A 9yearold girl is recovering from a concussion that she apparently suffered at the hands of other Elementary School students on a school bus friday. Alison now the childs family is asking why the bus driver didnt do anything to stop this assault. Stephen tschida spoke with the victims family and the School Officials today. What is the latest there . Stephen first of all alison, this cell phone video was taken on a school bus as it pulled out of Highland Park elementary last friday. In this video which we have edited, blurred the faces of some of the children, you will see the students begin to taunt this 9yearold girl thisdy min knewtive 9yearold girl diminutive 9yearold girl and the taunts and then it escalates to a physical beating. A girl pummels the 9yearold over the head with her fist. The 9yearold did suffer a concussion. Today, her family went to School Officials and Prince Georges County police to ask why the bus driver did not step in to protect the little girl. The video is seven minutes long. He didnt stop the bus even after he heard her screaming and crying. He never stopped. Stephen the Prince Georges County police said it was up to the School System to deal with the situation. An hour ago i heard from the school who says one of the student, the student seen delivering the most severe blows in that video has been suspended. Other students may be suspended. They are talking with him right now. As far as the bus driver the Transportation Department is talking with him. He is under investigation. As far as the punishment there, though. Nicole the universitys top administrator dealing with sexual assaults. She says in november article entitled rape on campus cast her as the chief villain in the incident. The article claimed that a woman identified only as jackwy was gang raped at the fraternity house. A Police Investigation later found no evidence of this crime. In a statement, she said i am filing a defamation lawsuit to set the record straight and to hold the magazine and the author of the article accountable for their actions in a way they have refused to do themselves. The magazine asks the Columbia School of journalism to have an independent review of the article and it found the magazine failed in the reporting and editing. Mcdonalds lawyers argue he should not have been convicted and it should be overturned for two reasons. First, he took no official action on behalf of Johnny Williams. The second argument being made from the defense is that judge James Spencer did not sufficiently determine whether or not jurors formed opinions about the case and about the governor based on publicity ling up to the trial leading up to pusly of the trial. Investigators say the officers opened fire after young rammed his truck in the deputys car. It started with a Domestic Violence call. The deputies now onopoly live leave. We have new information on husband and wife killed on the rockwell home on mothers day. They say richard and julian had been in West Virginia for dinner but the police would not elaborate on the come whereabouts. They say both victims suffered trauma to the upper bodies. Some 1900 bicycle riders from all over the country came here to the Police Memorial for the mills week Un Police Week unity tour. We caught up with them at a parking lot number eight of r. F. K. Stadium. They amassed there from numerous locations preparing to make the final leg, the twomile ride to the Police Memorial downtown. They talk to us about the camaraderie riding hundreds of miles over four days with fellow officers. They rode in memory of other office thers died in the line of duty. Like jones from Northern Virginia killed last may by a suspect as he checked out a suspicious vehicle. He was a hero. Just like the 117 officers who died nationwide in 2014 are all heroes.
