Residents there tell us the temperatures inside the homes dipped into the 40s. Right now the heat is on but the folks tell us theyre not optimistic itll stay that way. They are skeptical quite frankly because the heat is intermittent ever since it was turned on a couple weeks ago. There is a temporary fix right now. I can feel it here in the radiator. It is working. The heat is on. But they dont think its going to last the night. The heat is back on at the lexington apartment complex in northeast d. C. But residents are not con vipsd it will stay that way. Its really an incredible thing. People are frustrated. City officials a notice of violation w issued to the Building ManagementCompany Last Week because the heat was not working. A spokesperson says the boiler is broken and installing a new one could take weeks. Residents say the last couple weeks have been awful. Weve been stocking up op long underwear and sweat shirts and as many layers of blankets as we can pile on. Weve got this blanket. Last weekend this man says the temperature inside his apartment dipped below 50 degrees. Hard to do anything. Its kind of unlivable. The landlord allegedly delivered portable heaters and ordered Replacement Parts for the boiler to work temporarily. By 8 00 the thermometer is up to 68 degrees, the warmest its been in weeks according to residents but they fear the temporary fix will not last. I hope to come home to a warm apartment. And that it gets fixed tonight hopefully. My hope would have been to have had heat weeks ago. The residents showed us the boiler room. This is the question mark that has a lot of people concerned. What we do know is that officials are monitoring the situation. If the temporary fix in the boiler room does not stick and temperatures go down theyll certainly come out. Police tell us they were investigating a shooting in the 1800 block of West Virginia avenue. Two people were shot and their injuries are not life threatening were told. The Albemarle CountyPolice Department now confirms the 18yearold from alexandria is the victim of a homicide. While the medical examiner confirms she was murdered, her exact manner of death remains a mystery. Right now police are working to determine if Jesse Matthew played a role in grahams death. Her body was found in october, six weeks after she disappeared. Police in culpepper need your help tonight to find a man who is wanted for some serious crimes. Right now police are looking for Donell Easter jr. Wanted for felony lynching. The man killed is identified as cory clannigan. We have parents outraged and demanding answers wanting to know why Montgomery County schools took so long to notify parents after a substitute teacher jose pineda was accused of touching students inappropriately. The principal admitted she made a mistake but for some thats not good enough. You know, one parent said to me, thank god you guys have been reporting on this. We might never have heard about it. They also heard a troubling account tonight of what happened to the young student once she reported the alleged allegations. At a meeting with Roberta Clemente middle School Community parents wanted to know why the principal hadnt notified them immediately that the substitute teacher jose pineda had been accused of a sex crime against a student back on september 30. I realized that my decision not to send a letter to the Community Prior to november 7 was a mistake. And for that, i apologize. I was never attempting to cover up this incident. The principal said she was concerned about not revealing the victims identity and it wasnt until after a School Contractor had been arrested at another school for inappropriately touching a student she thought there could be other victims. I think that ought to weigh a little more heavily when youre talking about a middle school with 1200 students who could have potentially been affected by this. Parents were also serious about how the young victim had been handled once she reported. Another staff member attempted to conduct an initial fact finding to include gathering statements from the victim and other possible witnesses. The staff sent the victim and the witnesses back to class. Were there not any Staff Members or adults who thought this child was victimized and traumatized and maybe shouldnt have gone back to class . Like im having a hard time with that. In this video, we admit its hard to watch, you see a teenage girl targeted by a group of peers. At one point the victim tells us she was tased. Its been weeks but she is still recovering. I talked to her yesterday, leon. Fairmont high school is just down the hill there. Some of the students involved in the fighting there. The fight happened at an apartment complex behind me here. The mother says she was told even though the fight happened off campus that this was a School Matter but she says she doesnt know what the school is doing about it. When abc 7 broke the story friday of a brutal beating at suitland high school, one mother watched in particular horror because it looked all too familiar. Three weeks before, she says this happened to her daughter, a senior at fairmont heights high ch not only does the video show a group of girls kicking and beating her while she is on he ground, but at one point the victim says she was tased. She said it happened three times. How could this nice, kind girl, you know, all of a sudden get beat up by seven girls and nothing happens . Mother Bonita Porter shared pictures of her daughters injuries. She had a lot of swelling but no broken bones. The attack happened at an entrance to the Addison Chapel apartments. Porter says she was told even though it was a quarter mile off the fairmont heights high campus, this was not a police but a School Matter. And they had not communicated with me whatsoever whats going to happen to those girls. She said she was too upset to talk on camera but tells us off camera she was attacked because she said hi to a girl her attackers didnt like. She says four of the girls were fellow fairmont height students and fights are a big problem in the School Community. You dont want to worry about my kids going to school and theyre going to be jumped. You shouldnt have to worry about that. Her, you have the right to say hi to anybody. Within the last hour Prince Georges County schools got back to us about this. They say disciplinary action was taken in this case but they cant say what discipline action for confidentiality reasons. The attack on a new information tonight about violence in israel. Five people were killed and at least five injured. Among those killed, three americans. Four of the victims of the horrific attack allayed to rest just hours after their death per jewish tradition. All were rabbis, three american citizens. Thousands came out to mourn. This man read a eulogy for his father, saying, you went to pray at the synagogue and you were murdered by terrorists. The attack was stunning. Two palestinian men armed with knives, axes, and guns storming a synagogue in jerusalem. Coming in to the synagogue we heard gunshots from downstairs. A fifth victim, a policeman, died later. A number of others were injured, many from direct ax blows to the head. Police arrived at the scene and shot and killed the two terrorists. This was the first time in a long stoineding israelipalestinian conflict worshipers inside a synagogue were populated. It took place in a neighborhood with a number of English Speaking residents. The Palestinian Leader abbas condemned the attack. No Palestinian Group has claimed responsibility. Hamas applauded the violence. Tensions in jerusalem are at their highest point in years centered around the site that is one of the holiest places to both jews and muslims.
