a falls church man tells us about the three-hour tour that turned into 15 hours stuck on a boat in the middle of the ocean. >> live from the abc 7 broadcast center, this is abc 7 news at 11:00, on your side. >> first, new information about the bus driver caught using an ipad behind the wheel and the company in charge. an i-team investigation reveals america's bus and limo service as a number of safety issues on its record. >> the company does business with a federal agency. we wanted to know, why is the government dealing with a company that has a checkered record? josie is live in arlington with more on this. what did you find out? >> this bus trip began here in boston. we have new information courtesy of the general services administration. they do have a contract with america transportation services. based on what we have found, they will be investigating the allegations, looking at the company's past performance and potentially taking action if necessary. track to kings dominion. passengers got a thrill ride on this tour bus, watching their driver checking his ipad as they rolled down the road with his gps just above the wheel. company, but many writers say that is not what they got with america's bus and limo service. multiple reviews tell people not to use the company and we have even more reasons. we dug through safety reports and found they have two fatal crashes in their file and have been flagged for intervention because of safety issues and failing to test drivers for drugs and alcohol. we wanted to ask the owners about that but they weren't home. we also wanted to know why they say they are accredited by the better business bureau when the agency gave them an f rating. america transportation services has a five-year contract with the gsa. no agency says ats has compliance issues and a positive rating in the government database. tell us their driver should have kept his hand on the wheel, not on his rain. >> it is a sign of the times. repeatedly asked america transportation services for a comment on that video and their record. when we called, the man who answered the phone told us to keep our noses out of their business. >> thank you, josie. breaking news coming in from southern california t. a geyser opened up near the ucla campus. than four hours to turn off the broken water pipe. it gushed out some 35,000 gallons per minute, flooding roads and causing damages to sports fields on campus. underground parking structures were hit hard as well. three people had to be rescued. >> i couldn't believe it. i would never expect something like that to happen. y> the flooding damaged paule pavilion, the home of the men's basketball team. the universities spent $130 million renovating just two years ago. fortunately, no injuries have been reported. >> this just in, prince george's county, police have identified the man accused in a carjacking and chase that ended with a car slamming into a fast food restaurant. dominique harrison is in custody, facing a variety of charges. harrison carjack a woman just after 5:00 this morning. he drove away, hitting two cars in the process. harrison then lost control and drove into that mcdonald's. luckily, no one was injured. a rockyations of marriage and emotional crutch came out in the trial for the former virginia governor and his wife. attorneys say the other man and the alleged corruption triangle took advantage of their troubles. jeff goldberg reports tonight from richmond. >> we heard some very personal details about the relationship between bob and maureen mcdonnell. a marriage that had clearly been struggling for the past few years. indicate thisnts is setting up what could be a very ugly trial. >> the former governor entered court tuesday without his wife by his side, but sounding upbeat. >> we are looking forward to present our defense. >> the truth as explained by defense attorneys was that of a crumbling marriage during the time of their association with former star scientific ceo jonnie williams. maureen mcdonnell's attorney said she had a crush on him. she was protective and jealous of the relationship. one staffer referred to williams as the former first lady's favorite playmate. she was duped by williams into getting access to the governor, calling her, collateral damage. the former governor's lawyer says the circumstances created a rift so wide that an outsider could invade and poison the marriage. attorneys for both say the government's case is deeply flawed because it relies on the testimony of williams, who they argue is being granted immunity to save himself from millions in tax fraud allegations. prosecutors allege the ls wered's -- mcdonnel struggling financially. this is about the mcdonnells lining their pockets with secret gifts and cash. afternoon, the daughter of bob and maureen mcdonnell testified. she was married in 2011. catering bill to her wedding is a central part of the prosecution's case. she cried on the stand. testimony continues tomorrow. and richmond, jeff goldberg. >> thank you. only on seven tonight, a 28-year-old woman faces charges, accused of arranging to meet a 15-year-old boy she met while playing xbox. investigators say garen smith drove from missouri to montgomery county to connect with the victim. smith was invited into the family home by the boy's mother. the two were even allowed to share a bedroom. at some point, police say the mother became suspicious and called police. smith will be in court answering to charges of sexual abuse in a few weeks. >> just coming in from fairfax county, a landfill. originally was scheduled to close in 2018. they wanted to extend that by more than a decade. they offered a close date of 2025. nearby residents fought both dates. tonight, the residence won the battle. the board of supervisors ruled the landfill has to close on schedule in 2015. >> in an effort to cut down on trash, d.c. mayor vincent gray signed a bill banning some food containers. this goes into effect in 2016. meat trays used in grocery stores will be exempt. districts ago, the impose a five cent fee on plastic bags. >> including a fairfax county family are safe tonight after a nightmare whale watching trip. instead of three hours, they were stuck for 15, stranded off the coast of massachusetts. roz plater spoke with the family tonight. why was the boat stock for so long? >> it veered off course of little bit and got its propeller stock. on board was a journalist by the name of ken maguire, his wife and their young daughters. they were vacationing in boston. they had never been on this tour before. it was much more of an adventure than they bargained for. >> when they set out on the boat monday afternoon, the passengers were expecting a three-hour tour. >> ♪ a three-hour tour >> much like gilligan's vessel, this one ran into trouble too. on board was falls church resident ken maguire, his wife and two daughters. -- when you are driving a car and you hit a rock. >> that jolt was the beginning of their 15 hour ordeal. a second vessel arrived but the choppy water made it unsafe for passengers to board. by then, it was dark and cold. >> the ship didn't have any blankets. >> passengers started to get sick. >> grandmothers were sick. old childan 18 month who was throwing up a lot. >> hours later, a second dive team arrived and cut the rope. >> there was cheering in one corner of the boat so we knew it was good news. >> by 7:30, the passengers finally made it back to dry land. maguire says his family fared a bit better than most. >> we travel a lot. we have lived overseas. they didn't get seasick. >> would you do it again? >> first time and likely the last time. i think we have had enough of whale watching. >> the company is promising a $500 refund and a gift card towards another cruise. as you heard, the maguires won't be taking advantage of that. >> i would say that is a safe
