All this month Prince George county police say they will put extra officers on the street in certain areas. We are looking for guns and associated violence. Among the guns was of remington shotgun. They also seized amontemo and marijuana. Coming along tonight were federal agents. Stopping the violence was a focus. Officers also will be looking for drugs. Tonight they arrested these men after police say they smelled marijuana coming from their car. This is part of the initiative targeting six areas to try to make them better places to live. Almost all of them are in the gulf within a few miles of the district line. We are targeting Violent Crime and gang members. The number of homicides has been falling. As recently as 2005 there were 169 while last year there were 60. Officers know there is more to be done to target crime especially in these areas. If this goes well in january they expect to do it again sometime in the summer. Police say they do not suspect foul play in connection with the death of a clarksburg man. The body was found in a ventilation shaft. He vanished from a new Years Eve Party just after midnight. Officers discovered the body last night in an Apartment Building after calls someone was trying to get into the roof. It is unclear what lured him into the roof or why he was there. The district has said they have seen a historic low in homicides with 88 victims in 2012. They say those numbers are a far cry from 1991.
