the most powerful storm the southeast has seen in a decade. here's a l florida overnight as heavy winds set in ahead of the storm. this morning we're learning more than 270-thousand residents are without power. the national weather service is warning some locations "may be uninhabitable for weeks or months. meantime -- more than one million people are under mandatory evacuation orders-- from the latest on the storms track. hurricane matthew is centered just miles east of cape canaveral and is mph. the u.s. hurricane center in miami says although the eye of the storm is still off-shore, parts of florida are seeing strong winds. sustained winds of 46 mph and a gust of 70 mph were reported in melbourne this has shut down because of hurricane matthew. and one mequon family is caught in the middle of the mess. thousands of flights around the country are cancelled from milwaukee...flights to ft lauderdale and orlando are canceled...those airports shut down because of the storm. leaving one mequon family stuck in florida with no way to get began their week in hilton head, south carolina before mandatory evacuations were ordered.the family then drove to their planned end destination early--- disney world. the resort-- is now closed. it's only the fourth time in history that's happened. the linneman's are sheltered in place inside their hotel. they say the hotels are still providing food, but the lines for pizza--- was nearly 2 hours! we've just gotten to the point where we are just going to laugh it off and say we survived something else on vacation and now it's news --- milwaukee police are investigating a fatal shooting. it happened early this morning around 4-45 near 38th and wright. the medical examiner's office confirms they were notified of a death at this location. stay with fox six for the latest on this breaking story. this morning milwaukee police are also investigating four other shootings happening overnight. lancaster where officer responded to a shooting around 7-50 last night. police say a fight broke out after an argument on facebook. during the fight, a suspect fired several shots into the group-- hitting a 19-year-old man. he was taken to the hospital and is expected to be o-k. then just about a half hour later --- around 8-15 --- police responded to another shooting near 18-tha nd pearl. investigators say a 25-year-old man was shot after he was confronted by an unknown suspect. he was taken to the hospital. his current condition has not been released. police say a fight over a car led to another shooting around 10-30 last and glen. officials say during the fight, the suspect grabbed a gun and shot a 25- year-old man. he was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. a 28-year-old man is recovering after he was grazed by a bullet. the victim says he was driving near 35-th and center around 11-30 last night when a suspect fired several shots into his vehicle. the victim then drove himself to the hospital.
