handelman joins us now from the newsroom with some stories coming up on fox six news at five. segregation in milwaukee. it's a well known issue the city has had for years. at five, we take a look at where the problem comes from and a project trying to fix it. care to more communities. coming up, the life- saving facility that just opened in a local city. those stories and more coming up in about 20 minutes on fox six news at five. often times after a tragedy-- or the violence we saw this past weekend near sherman park -- the community comes together and organizes efforts to prevent something like it from happening again. but what happens to those programs in the years ahead? fox six's krystle kacner checks in with a grass roots ?neighborhood safety program we first told after 13 month old bill thao was killed by a bullet .. fired into the home he was in... back in december 2014 ... local churches sprung to action- through a program called...'adopt a block' - the idea ... to get the faith community and its leaders to interact with neighbors - get to know them- start conversations.. that could ultimately lead to change and put an end to violence. its a good starting point but th be the after caredr andrew calhoun says he's seen it time and time again-- it starts out strong.. but soon...loses momentum.. that wasn't the case at grace fellowship church. i think when you dont quite have a model like we have here, it starts up for a moment then it begins to fizzle away, they now call it 'adopt a neighborhood'... and it focuses on the grover and williamsburg heights neighborhoods. you got to have a forum where people can talk about things and say this program already in place has helped their community deal with the riots and violence happening in the sherman park neighborhood. they know people that live there, they go to church with people from sherman park, so having a way to voice your concerns, and see people who are trying to take the lead consistently relieves a lot of stress even though the church already has programs in place they continue to add new elements to keep the conversation going. for example they are go session held here between residents, teenagers and police officers. reporting in milwaukee, krystle kacner, fox 6 news. in some parts of the country-- people would say there is a lot of tension between law enforcement and some of the public. but one police department not far from our own city -- is trying to change that. the green bay police department is doing more to keep a solid relationship with the community at large.. one way they are doing that is with events like 'coffee with a cop'. they put the event on at the open to anyone who wanted to go! three new community officers attended on yesterday and got to know some of the people they will be serving -- and vice- versa. "what i've heard more of is just small talk, conversation. breaking that barrier and getting to know that person behind the badge which is what we really want in the community." while some simply chatted with the officers, others let them know about problems they have noticed in their neighborhood. the officers say events like this are needed right now and can only help when it comes to protecting communiti ad lib about program coming up on fox 6 news at four... the common injury doctors are ready for with the school year starting up. plus -- katrina cravy is here with some apps to help you easily manage your money. here's a live look outside right now from our camera in new next with feingold: i'm russ feingold and i approve this message. johnson: i've always said i'll be the calmest guy on my election night. i win either way. narrator: if he loses, senator johnson falls back on the johnson: i've always said... i win either way. narrator: if he wins, he gets another six years to support tax loopholes and bad trade deals that ship jobs overseas. all to benefit corporations and multi-millionaires like him. johnson: i win either way. we've all got bills to pay and sometimes it can be tough to keep track of them all. contact 6's katrina cravy joins us with some easy ways to help your manage your money. let's face it - budgets aren't always easy to manage and sometimes you can look at your bank account and wonder, "where did all my money go?" luckily - there's a few apps that can help you avoid any financial surprises. you can check out the app "level money." level money works with yo know how much money you make and what you're paying for your regular bills. it will also keep track of where you're spending your money. so - at any given moment you can open the app and know just how much money you have to spend. mint is another app to check out.. it's a personal finance tool that puts all your financial information in one place. mint gives you quick access to how much money you have...and breaks down what you are spending and where. if you want -- you can even set financial goals and mint will let you know entire budget - but the payments you always another app doesn't monitor your entire budget - but the payments you always make. it's called true-bill. the app scans and monitors your accounts - looking for recurring payments and subscriptions - like netflix or even your insurance. it will add them up for you to let you know how much you're spending. truebill lets you know if there's a price increase or a new subscription on your account. and - if you want to cancel with a company..no problem! truebill does it for you..even ones that are tougher to get out of - like gym memberships! want with just a couple clicks, which is pretty cool because sometimes..no one likes waiting on hold and going through a five-button dial menu just to get to a real person."
