fox6's rachelle baillon finds out.. monday night's debate between democratic nominee hillary clinton and republican nominee donald trump was the first face-off between the two, and it drew a near record breaking crowd. "trump brought a lot of eyeballs to the debate." "he brought them to the circus but what they saw director of the republican party of wisconsin. he now runs edge messaging. he says he won't be voting for trump or clinton -- but says clinton was the clear winner in monday's contest. "the bar was set so low for trump and he couldn't he hit his head on the bar he couldn't even do that. now, does that mean that she's going to get a huge bump in the polls i don't know." as of last week, the two were locked in a dead heat here in wisconsin. school poll showed clinton with 44 percent among the state's likely voters and trump with 42 percent. fraley predicts that monday's performance will halt recent polling trends. "it stops her decline and it stops his rise so it provides an opportunity for these last 40 days for a real slug fest." uwm professor mordecai lee thinks the debate was a draw.....and also says it may not have helped undecided voters move any closer to choosing a candidate. "which means that there's an opening both for the libertarian candidate and for suspect we're going to be seeing an increase by both of those candidates because people are just so unhappy with it." at the debate, donald trump said he has better judgment than hillary clinton because he was against the iraq war. clinton says trump doesnt pay federal income tax. tho from last night's debate. political reporter theo keith put them through a reality check. fact-checking by five different journalism organizations say donald trump said more untruths, but they also say hillary clinton was guilty, too.here, we check two claims from each candidate that are central to why they believe they should be president -- and the other should not. youre telling the enemy what to do crosstalk . during monday night's 90 clinton and trump, the clock seemed to turn back -- to 2002. i was against the war in iraq. holt the record shows otherwise . trump the record does not show - the record shows that im right this is misleading.the iraq war is key to trump's argument that he has better judgment than clinton, who voted for the war as a u-s senator. until recently, there was little evidence of trumps position before the war began. he wasnt in office, so there are no votes to examine. trump ha against the war from the beginning. but trump had a different view in a 2002 interview with howard stern discovered by buzzfeed. are you for invading iraq? yeah i guess so. i wish, the first time it was done correctly by 2004, the year after the invasion, trump was publicly against the war. trump offered an explanation at mondays debate for his earlier support for the war. when i did an interview with howard stern, very lightly, the that, i said very lightly, i dont know, maybe, who knows - essentially next, well look at a clinton claim. she questions why trump hasnt released his tax returns. she speculates that he's not as rich as he says. or maybe he doesnt want the american people, all of you watching tonight, to know hes paid nothing in federal taxes. because the only years anyones ever seen were a couple of years he had to turn them over to state authorities when he was trying to get a he didnt pay any federal income tax this is misleading. heres a report to the state of new jersey in 1981, when trumps company was applying for a casino license.the report shows trump paid federal income taxes three out of five years from 1975 to 1979. he did not pay the other two years because he reported losses. the washington post put the report online. we're also going to use it to fact-check something trump said, about how start in business. my father gave me a very small loan in 1975 and i built it into a company thats worth many many billions of dollars with some of the greatest assets in the world trump's claim about a "very small loan" needs clarification. according to the same 1981 report we just mentioned, trumps father gave him a 7.5 million dollar loan in 1980. the wall street journal says a report from five years later shows an updated amount -- 14 million. donald was very fortunate in his life, and thats his business with 14 million dollars borrowed from his father then theres the issue of trade. specifically, the trans pacific partnership,. the obama administration negotiated the deal, but it has stalled in congress. trump and bernie sanders agree on this one. both are against the tpp. clintons position has evolved. you called it the gold standard. you called it the gold standard of trade deals. you said it was the i said about it, and all of a sudden you were against it well donald, i know you live in your own reality, but that is not the facts. actually, clintons version of 'the facts' needs clarification. in 2012, clinton said the tpp 'sets the gold standard in trade agreements.' by 2015, she was against the tpp -- saying, essentially, that it didn't meet her standards. i'm theo keith, and that's a fox6 news reality check. trump also made news last night campaign had started rumors that president obama wasn't born in america. theo takes a look at that in a web extra version of this reality check...right now on fox6 now dot com. a busy campaign week in wisconsin. republican presidential nominee donald trump will be in waukesha tomorrow. he'll be at the expo center. anne holton -- the wife democratic v-p nominee tim kaine -- will be in milwaukee and kenosha on thursday... and hillary clinton's daughter they were watching a soccer game in germantown.. but little did they know - the real action was happening in the parking lot behind them.. how thieves were scoring big-time. and a black live matter banner - stolen from an area church for the 4th time!
