found on a lawn near 52nd and hemlock. police are trying to determine if it's a firework or something else. no one has been hurt. now to a story you'll see only on fox6. two milwaukee mothers are waiting for justice. their sons were hit and killed while they rode their motorcycles earlier this month. the driver who struck them was initially taken into custody-- but hasn't yet been charged. fox 6's ashley sears is live at 6th and mckinley to explain. the two women say they are frustrated. they thought the driver would be charged after authorities found eopened alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia in his truck. it its hell every day. for the last month-- its been rough. two mothers-- have shared the same pain. remembering their sons only in pictures. its just a whole lot of unanswered questions and its very frustrating. their sons were friends, riding their motorcycles together in the when 25-year-old deangelo maxwell and 36-year-old james morris were struck and killed at 6th and mckinley. the driver of the truck who hit them was initially arrested. a medical examiner's report indicates "two open bottles of alcohol were noted in the back seat of the truck" and "a marijuana pipe could be seen laying on the ground..." charges for homicide were pending-- but just two days after the crash, the driver was released from justice, not when you let a person out. the milwaukee county district attorney's office says the case is still under review for additional evidence related to accident reconstruction. its three weeks, going on four, what is going on? two mothers who are grieving-- now say they are fighting for their sons-- hoping to see justice. he killed my baby...this is crushing me and killing me. the mothera for their two sons this thursday. no on the city's north side. milwaukee police were called to the scene near 27th and brown around one this afternoon. one man was teen were also injured. they were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. this is the third homicide within the past two days and 90-th this year. you know there's been a lot of killings lately. so it's just really sad.butted with anything can happen, around here. stuff is just going haywire. a lot of people is just dying. police are investigating what prompted the shooting. no word on any suspects yet. stabbing victim from early yesterday morning. milwaukee police say 32-year-old shawn ostrom was stabbed to death on the lower east side outside of a bar. two suspects-- a 45-year-old oak creek man and a 20-year-old greenfield man are now in custody. officials say the stabbing stemmed from an argument between ostrom and people he knew. ostrom was a chef at the pfister. tonight a hotel spokeswoman says - we have lost one of our respected colleagues and work family members. our hearts and prayers go out to his family and gathered tonight to remember shawn ostrom, they met near the spot where he was killed. the investigation is ongoing. after reports that a 12-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted in a milwaukee park -- the girl has since recanted her story. five men had been arrested in connection to the alleged assault near 23rd and national yesterday afternoon. police say they determined the incident was quote, "baseless". a convicted sex offenderi today - and now 76- year old fortunato carrion is homeless carrion was convicted in 1986 and 1992 for having sex with a child. if he violates the terms of his release -- he will be taken back into custody. new tonight. a potential new arena! we're not talking about the one in milwaukee--- this proposal takes place-- in racine! but there is a potential tie-in with the milwaukee bucks. krystle kacner joins us live in racine concerts - sporting events- conventions - trade shows. it would be located in downtown racine. tonight- city officials brought their proposal to their would-be partners-- racine county. this could be a great game changer it was the first chance for the public i think the location of this is something that needs to be considered to weigh on a potential new arena for racine willing to pay a little more to get something like this going but it was also the first time for the county board to officially hear the city's plan... to build a 38-hundred seat arena in downtown racine..on the southeast corner of lake avenue and gaslight drive.. that could play host to around 270 thousand people each year. . for events like hockey.. nba d league basketball... concerts... wrestling matches... conventions... nat from meeting the city has told us this they would not be able to finance because the plan is still in it's infancy .. that's still one of the big question marks in all of this -- finances-- exactly where would the estimated cost of 40 million dollars come from.. if the county decides it wants to partner with the city on this project. this is a big one for all of us in the county the city you look at 440 construction jobs, 46 to 70 million dollars in development if you include the hotel and then the 300 plus regular jobs that come with the hotel and convention center after. racine's mayor says they found on a lawn near 52nd and hemlock. police are trying to determine if it's a firework or something else. no one has been hurt. now to a story you'll see only on fox6. two milwaukee mothers are waiting for justice. their sons were hit and killed while they rode their motorcycles earlier this month. the driver who struck them was initially taken into custody-- but hasn't yet been charged. fox 6's ashley sears is live at 6th and mckinley to explain. the two women say they are frustrated. they thought the driver would be charged after authorities found eopened alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia in his truck. it its hell every day. for the last month-- its been rough. two mothers-- have shared the same pain. remembering their sons only in pictures. its just a whole lot of unanswered questions and its very frustrating. their sons were friends, riding their motorcycles together in the when 25-year-old deangelo maxwell and 36-year-old james morris were struck and killed at 6th and mckinley. the driver of the truck who hit them was initially arrested. a medical examiner's report indicates "two open bottles of alcohol were noted in the back seat of the truck" and "a marijuana pipe could be seen laying on the ground..." charges for homicide were pending-- but just two days after the crash, the driver was released from justice, not when you let a person out. the milwaukee county district attorney's office says the case is still under review for additional evidence related to accident reconstruction. its three weeks, going on four, what is going on? two mothers who are grieving-- now say they are fighting for their sons-- hoping to see justice. he killed my baby...this is crushing me and killing me. the mothera for their two sons this thursday. no on the city's north side. milwaukee police were called to the scene near 27th and brown around one this afternoon. one man was teen were also injured. they were taken to the hospital and are expected to be okay. this is the third homicide within the past two days and 90-th this year. you know there's been a lot of killings lately. so it's just really sad.butted with anything can happen, around here. stuff is just going haywire. a lot of people is just dying. police are investigating what prompted the shooting. no word on any suspects yet. stabbing victim from early yesterday morning. milwaukee police say 32-year-old shawn ostrom was stabbed to death on the lower east side outside of a bar. two suspects-- a 45-year-old oak creek man and a 20-year-old greenfield man are now in custody. officials say the stabbing stemmed from an argument between ostrom and people he knew. ostrom was a chef at the pfister. tonight a hotel spokeswoman says - we have lost one of our respected colleagues and work family members. our hearts and prayers go out to his family and gathered tonight to remember shawn ostrom, they met near the spot where he was killed. the investigation is ongoing. after reports that a 12-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted in a milwaukee park -- the girl has since recanted her story. five men had been arrested in connection to the alleged assault near 23rd and national yesterday afternoon. police say they determined the incident was quote, "baseless". a convicted sex offenderi today - and now 76- year old fortunato carrion is homeless carrion was convicted in 1986 and 1992 for having sex with a child. if he violates the terms of his release -- he will be taken back into custody. new tonight. a potential new arena! we're not talking about the one in milwaukee--- this proposal takes place-- in racine! but there is a potential tie-in with the milwaukee bucks. krystle kacner joins us live in racine concerts - sporting events- conventions - trade shows. it would be located in downtown racine. tonight- city officials brought their proposal to their would-be partners-- racine county. this could be a great game changer it was the first chance for the public i think the location of this is something that needs to be considered to weigh on a potential new arena for racine willing to pay a little more to get something like this going but it was also the first time for the county board to officially hear the city's plan... to build a 38-hundred seat arena in downtown racine..on the southeast corner of lake avenue and gaslight drive.. that could play host to around 270 thousand people each year. . for events like hockey.. nba d league basketball... concerts... wrestling matches... conventions... nat from meeting the city has told us this they would not be able to finance because the plan is still in it's infancy .. that's still one of the big question marks in all of this -- finances-- exactly where would the estimated cost of 40 million dollars come from.. if the county decides it wants to partner with the city on this project. this is a big one for all of us in the county the city you look at 440 construction jobs, 46 to 70 million dollars in development if you include the hotel and then the 300 plus regular jobs that come with the hotel and convention center after. racine's mayor says they weren't nights meeting.. still.. time is of the the essense with a project like this. our job is to now try to get this done. the county board will do their best to do this in a timely fashion so that were not dragging our feet on this etc the county board says another step that needs to be taken- hearing more from the public. tonight they mainly heard from downtown business owners. they plan to addicted to opiates through july, the has certified 161 drug overdose deaths. thats up about ten percent from 2015. they are using elephant tranquilizers to try and cut the heroin with fentanayl which new tonight - a call to investigate a state-run veterans home. some lawmakers say the king veterans home has been mis-managed. and they want a review at both the state and federal levels. ted perry is in the newsroom with more. brad - after hearing concerns state lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say changes are needed. the comments follow a report from the capital times newspaper. the article claims, some patients, family members and employees have reported understaffing, unsanitary conditions, broken equipment and even residents potentially being overmedicated. lawmakers say they want to
