official. that state representative tells fox 6 he was released once police realized who they were detaining. a.j. bayatpour is also live near 44th and auer with that story... jonathan brostoff says he was in the area to talk to people that had gathered and try to calm the situation. he says he tried to himself in handcuffs. fox 6 cameras capture state representative jonathan brostoff face-down on the pavement tuesday night. officers arrest him when police say, for the second time that evening, they had to break up a large group. i kept saying to them, i know this is your job, i dont hold anything against you. its a tough job that i wouldnt want and were gonna figure this out, and thats what i kept saying. milwaukee police say they dispersed the gathering at a memorial for sylville smith because neighbors large groups. brostoff says hes well aware of those concerns and the complaints about some in the group being hostile. yes, i get the same energy put my way 100%. i usually bring some gum with me, try to de-escalate, try to chat with people. m-p-d says brostoff and an a-c-l-u observer were arrested after police tried to break up a confrontation between a resident and the group. a police spokesman says, unlike other elected officials and community leaders, brostoff and the a-c-l-u rep did not identify themselves to police. in a very violent manner, i went to go record it, and i took out my phone and started recording and i was kind of tossed to the ground and you saw me with my face on the concrete. in the video, you hear a bystander yelling at police who theyve arrested. m-p-d says it is reviewing the arrests to make sure officers followed proper procedure. we all want whats best for everyone. we just need to get there, work together, and we need to focus on preventive, not punitive. in a statement this afternoon, the a-c-l-u condemned milwaukee police for the arrests. brostoff says he has yet to speak with anyone from m-p-d since he was released. live near sherman and auer, a.j. bayatpour, fox 6 news. man killed yesterday in a triple shooting in milwaukee -- and a suspect is now in custody. 22-year-old anthony trice was shot and killed yesterday afternoon near 27th and vine. a teenager was also taken to the hospital. officials say a 25-year-old has been arrested in connection with the shooting. the milwaukee county medical examiner's office is investigating the death of a newborn. it happened milwaukee police say a one-month-old was found unresponsive... it's believed co-sleeping contributed to the death. officials are waiting for toxicology results before determining an official cause of death. the lawyers for the girls charged in the slenderman stabbing case are hoping to change the details of their trials. this week they filed motions and requests -- that could impact the jury. beverly taylor has this developing story. it's been since morgan geyser and anissa weier, then 12 years old, were accused of stabbing a classmate to appease the fictional character slenderman. now, attorneys for the two girls, charged with attempted 1st degree intentional homicide, are focused on where the trial should take place and who should hear it. morgan geyser's want a change of venue -- meaning hold the trial in a different county. they cite that despite national media attention for this case, there is more "interest and exposure to prejudicial details of this case in waukesha county,-- preference: an area that has shown less interest. using google trends, they state the topic has been only 40 percent as popular in the green bay-appleton area, and only 20 percent as popular in madison. ....taking a slightly different strategy. anissa weier's attorneys don't want a change of venue-- they want a jury brought brought in from a different county. in the letter to the court, it states, to move weier to a different facility"would create significant hardships" and "would mean moving our client from the ce which and whom she had been accustomed for over two years at the most stressful moment of her life. it also cautions taking her further "from her familial support system and her counselor". also-- in asking for the change of venue geyser's attorneys pointed a finger at newspaper coverage, stating "because of the volume and bias of media coverage in this case the court should grant this motion." the girls has unfolded in court. republican presidential nominee donald trump met today with the president of mexico. it comes ahead of a planned speech on immigration tonight in arizona. the meeting comes as a bit of a surprise..... president enrique pena knee-eh-toe nieto has sharply criticized trump in the past. the mexican p both trump and democratic candidate hillary clinton to his country for meetings. clinton -- speaking today at the american legion national convention -- commented on trump's meeting in mexico. "it certainly takes more than trying to make up for a year of insults and insinuations by dropping in on our neighbors for a few hours then flying home again. that is not how it works." "we train in non-escalation de- escalation is we teach the entire spectrum of human conflict." william singleton used to work for the milwaukee police department. but now, he works for a local training company called vistelar. "i joined the company full time back in february and since then we've seen a major uptick in police departments contacting us for this training." we stopped by a training session on wednesday, when most of the participants were just regular professionals. but singleton says the training is becoming more and more popular with d the country, as a supplement to the training officers get at police academies. "police officers like to go out and get extra training to enhance their skills and communication is becoming very valuable in law enforcement because of everything that's going on." the cudahy police chief tells us his entire department has completed the training. he's now an advisor for vistelar. he says the focus of this training is to develop the skills to stop a confrontation and turn the interaction around before it becomes negative.
