The 27year old mom is now awake and breathing fingers crossed that physical therapy and all the medical help that we get, that shell be able to lead a normal life. The road to recovery though will likely take years. Mayek suffered multiple broken bones and brain trauma in a hit and run on october 5th. Surveillalnce cameras at cesar chavez and greenfield show mayek crossing the street when a car strikes her head on. The driver then flees the scene. She sure didnt deserve this. Of all people. Milwaukee police have located the vehicle but are still searching for the person behind the wheel. Rivas hopes someone from the community will step forward who knows something.
