In milwaukee, groups will be passing out gift bags filled with water bottles, wristbands, and thank you cards to every police district. Those thank you cards were handwritten by school kids from around southeast wisconsin. One group of police wives spent yesterday creating the gift bags. My husband and her husband, together. They got into this at a pretty tough time for Police Officers. So, its actually great seeing the kids write the letters to them. I know it means a lot to the guys, that people still support them. Thema thank you notes will also be delivered to local firefighters. Those deliveries start at 8 00 a. M. Milwaukee police are asking for your help to track down whoever broke into a firehouse as firefighters were out on a call. Police say it happened at the the suspects got in by cutting out a window screen while fire crews were out on what ended up being a false alarm. The suspects got away with a cell phone, laptop, and other personal items. Anyone with information should call police. The case of the officerinvolved shooting of 23yearold Syville Smith is now the hands of the Milwaukee County district attorney. It could be months before we know if the officer in that shooting will face charges. Shot and killed after a traffic stop near 44th and auer. The state department of justice investigated that shooting and yesterday, handed its findings to the Milwaukee County d. A. Smiths death sparked two nights of violent unrest in and around the sherman park neighborhood. Milwaukees police chief says his department will be ready when the das decision is made public. Sherman park dig not it did not ignite. People from outside sherman park came into sherman park. That was not done by the community. The community was the victim of the violence, not the perpetrators of it. We have been working with them closely to make sure they feel safe and protected. Thema police said smith had a gun in his hand when he was shot. The officer has been placed on administrative duty. Nuns in their home in mississippi remains behind bars this morning. One of the nuns, sister margaret held, was born in slinger. Yesterday, a judge denied bond for the suspect in the case. Reporter ross adams from our sister station in jackson, mississippi, has the latest. Ross sanders has already confessed to the killings, but raising questions about how investigators got the confession. A state investigator testified sanders confession was videotaped, and that he waved his miranda rights before police questioned him. They said he told them he entered the nuns home through the garage door. Once inside, they said the women confronted sanders. Thats when he grabbed a knife and stabbed them. He went to the restroom to wash up. Sanders spotted a pair keys on the counter in the kitchen. He grabbed the keys hopped in , the car, and then hit the driving to kosciusko 15 miles away, where he lived. Sanders wife later brought him to the Police Station where he , was initially questioned about the killings. Sister paula merrills family sat just feet from sanders in the small courtroom. Were just kind of here as witnesses to the process, witnesses to the legacy of sister paula and sister margaret. Police started to chase the suspect who then started shooting into a car. Both people inside were shot in the chest. They are in critical condition. The suspect was shot and killed. Developing overnight, an amtrak train outside of los angeles was evacuated after police say a passenger suspected of carrying a gun barricaded himself in one of the cars. The train stopped at a station and nearly 200 passengers were evacuated. Police are still on the scene. They are deploying tear gas before taking the suspect into custody. Because of the standoff. Right now, some parts of the country could be looking at higher gasoline prices, because of a leaking pipeline. The gasoline pipeline has spilled more than 250,000 gallons near birmingham, alabama. Its not expected to be fully reopened until next week. The pipeline sends gas from refineries in texas to the east coast. Thats where any price hike would be felt.
