driving. 23-year-old jasen randhawa appears before milwaukee's common council with his attorney to discuss his family's convenience store. the meeting was in may. at the time, randhawa was in the process of taking over the business from his father, who has health issues. >> i just want to continue the way it's been operating to keep it consistent with the customers. reporter: tonight, randhawa is himself in for a fatal hit and run crash early sunday morning. police sources tell 12 news randhawa was driving this black lexus suv and blew through a red light. he slammed into an uber driver carrying three women from chicago. the three friends died, and the uber driver is in critical condition. court records show randhawa was found guilty last year of operating while revoked, owi-related, after driving the wrong way on a divided highway. during that hearing, randhawa stamper on his arrest. >> do you still drink? >> if i was to drink, i would make sure i was not getting behind the wheel. >> so you don't drink and drive? >> correct. >> ok. reporter: randhawa has not yet been officially charged. he had a passenger in the car. we do not know anything about that person tonight. christina palladino, wisn 12 from chicago. patrick, one of them was originally from southeast wisconsin. reporter: 30-year-old ashley sawatzke was a u.w. grad from menomonee falls. she was in town with two of her friends, 32-year-old amy taylor and 35-year-old lindsey cohen. the three were passengers in the uber car on their way to the kimpton journeyman hotel in milwaukee's third ward. it was early sunday morning around bar time when they were hit. the three women worked in advertising, two of them for the same ad agency. we are absolutely devastated by the loss of these three incredible, exuberant young women who were taken from us far too soon. our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones at this tragic moment. 12 news reached out to sawatzke's family. they declined to comment today. her uncle has this to say on facebook. she was a successful and wonderful young woman. her smile and face would light up any room. please keep them in your hearts and prayers. anchor: uber released this statement. we are devastated to hear of this tragic accident and extend those grieving for the loss of their loved ones. we will support the police investigation in every way we can. anchor: turning now to commitment 2016 election coverage. early voting began today in communities all across wisconsin. it's been underway in milwaukee county for a few weeks now. write-in votes may be popular when it comes to this year's election, however, some write-in votes might not count. state law allows write-in votes to be counted only for registered write-in candidates, not just anyone. president, but more could file before tuesday's deadline. they are cherunda fox, evan mcmullin, michael maturen, and marshall schoenke. a triple stop for the clinton shootings. police continue to search for suspects. the search is still on for the person who stole an suv with a toddler in the backseat, prompting an amber alert last t. the one-year-old boy from close eye on their pets after a dog was attacked and killed by a on friday night, a coyote killed a chihuahua in whitefish bay. the department of natural resources says this is the time of year when for an escaped inmate. the racine county sheriff's department says 30-year-old thomas clodfelter walked away from a work release site last night. he was serving time at the sturtevant transitional facility for burglary. waukesha police arrest an 11-year-old boy for making a creepy clown threat using his school-issued ipad. the video messages stated a clown was going to get the children at hawthorne elementary last week. investigators tracked the messages to a former hawthorne trying to scare a couple of friends at his old school and it got out of hand. anchor: walmart is pulling a halloween costume from its website that many say is inappropriate. it's called the razor blade suicide scar makeup kit. a shopper called out the retailer on social media after noticing it, and an online petition started over the weekend, prompting a big discussion. walmart says the costume came from a third-party seller and called it appalling and unacceptable. new recommendations tonight for
