the baby's family went from despair to pure joy in a matter of seconds when they heard one-year-old taratino carter had been found about four miles from here. this happened earlier tonight when the mother had her son in a car seat in the backseat and stopped at the a&s gas and convenience store and went inside. she left her car running and and drove off with her baby in the backseat shortly before 6:00. she called for help and police issued an amber alert. roughly two and a half hours later a caller had found the baby and car. >> my heart goes out to the milwaukee police department with a lot of gratitude at this point. you know, because this baby -- you know it could have ended a , completely different way. >> the amber alert really helped us out in this situation. from the amber alert, a citizen went out and noticed the car was still running and the lights were on. and proceeded to call the police department. and we sent squads over. terry: police say taratina was -- police say taratino was found in the 39th and silver spring neighborhood. he was unharmed and reunited with his mother. the temperature has dropped tonight and this is when people start leaving their cars running when they go into stores, and after what happened tonight, police are warning everyone not do that. that's what happened tonight. thankfully, the baby is ok and reunited with his mother. live in milwaukee, terry sater, wisn 12 news. adrienne: milwaukee police are looking for a hit and run driver who slammed into an uber car , killing three women. it happened near 2nd and clybourn in downtown milwaukee early this morning. the driver of a lexus crossover ran a red light and slammed into an uber car a ford fusion. police aren't giving us a lot of information about the victims but we know two of the women are the uber driver survived and is in the hospital. the two people in the lexus, including the driver, ran off. sheldon: family and friends gathered to honor and remember jay anderson junior. this afternoon, they released balloons at madsion park. it's the same park where a wauwatosa police officer shot and killed anderson in his car 4 months ago. anderson junior's family has maintained that there was a gun in his car, but say their son never threatened the officer learning to cope. >> just counseling and day by day coping. and just grieving. you can't get by this. you can't get by this. sheldon: newly released dash cam video may reveal more about what caused anderson junior's death. a brown deer police officer will be in court wednesday. she's charged with shooting an unarmed man. officer devon kraemer shot 26-year-old manuel burnley last police kicked burnley off a county bus after a disruption. the officer shot him while he was face down on the ground. he survived. adrienne: police are still looking for the shooter who killed a man in milwaukee last night. it happened just before 1:00 this morning near 38th and vienna. investigators say a man in his 20's was shot inside a home. he then ran outside to 35th and vienna. he died at the scene. right now, police need our help with two separate silver alerts. officers are looking for you see his picture. curry suffers from dementia and has a hard time walking. someone last saw him yesterday near holton and burleigh wearing a black baseball cap with an army logo and a bright orange jacket. after a deadly coyote attack. only on wisn 12 news, coyotes killed a 5-pound chihuahua named bertie. the attack happened friday night near hampton and woodruff right in front of bertie's owner. now her family wants to make sure neighbors are extra >> it really kind of freaked me out for all the little kids. you know be careful. , stay by your kids, don't let them play outside by themselves. sheldon: this isn't the first time a coyote killed a dog in the milwaukee area in the past year. we know of deadly attacks in greenfield, mequon, and wauwatosa. it has been two months since violent demonstrations rattled the sense of peace in sherman park. but neighbors are determined to work together to make a difference. volunteers joined other community mes up up the tri-block area. they picked up trash in the streets and now is 51st to 60th and center to burleigh streets. >> there are a lot of roots here. lot of people who really want to see this place be a great place to live, to safe. one-year-old taratino carter was in a car that was stolen tonight, near 59th and good hope. police found him later at 39th and silver spring. we'll bring you a live update on this s i minutes. sheldon: a police ride-along in california suddenly turns scary. an officer had a civilian in his squad car for a ride-along. when the officer tried to pull a car over the driver took off. the passenger in that car started spraying the squad with gunfire and bullets came right through the window. neither the officer nor the civilian were hit. police are still looking for the we're following a developing story out of california. investigators want to know what caused a tour bus to slam into a semi. adrienne: 13 people are dead 31 others are hurt. abc's adrienne bankert takes us to the scene. 2the tour bus crashed into the semi-truck's trailer on this -- reporter: the tour bus crashed into the semi-truck's trailer on this stretch of desert highway near palm springs, about one hundred miles from los angeles. the force of the collision is plain to see in the mangled wreckage. the entire front of the bus penetrated the back of the big rig. the california highway patrol says the bus was moving significantly faster than the >> i will tell you that the speed of the bus was so significant that when it hit the back of the big rig, the trailer, the trailer itself entered about 15 feet into the bus. reporter: this is all that is left of the semi. witnesses saying it appeared the big rig swallowed that bus. an eyewitness said several rows of seats in the front of the bus were crushed by the impact. firefighters used ladders to remove bodies. the highway patrol gathered the victims' personal effects in heavy machinery was needed to pull apart the massive metal wreckage. >> in almost 35 years i've never , been to a crash where there's been 13 confirmed fatal accidents, so it's tough, it's tough on all of us. reporter: the injured were taken to three hospitals. one doctor said some of their wounds could have been much worse. >> this bus struck something when you usually see someone involved in a high-speed motor vehicle crash the thing that you , see are big-time broken bones; this was not one of the circumstances that we were faced with. reporter: they still have yet to identify the victims, and we know that we talked to a couple of family members here who this morning. a man and his daughter boarded their flight hours early through an unlocked door. guess what? plane, dropped off their luggage, then went back to the terminal. when the flight crew found the unexpected luggage, they cleared the plane and called security. the passengers who caused the scare said they meant no harm. >> it was clear they were very confused, and they did not speak english. sheldon: american airlines put all of the passengers on another plane, just to be safe. adrienne: dedicating a new playground in milwaukee today. enderis park is now open to the public. -- enderis was named one of 12 2013, milwaukee parks in most need of repair. but with some help raising funds, redesigning, and a little construction, mayor tom barrett says the new park is for everyone.
