Of the nearly 30 you mentioned, nine of them are from milwaukee. Two more will load up the struggle of supplies and head out. More than two dozen volunteers from wisconsin heading to Hurricane Matthew promised to help for two weeks. Making sure that people have Emergency Needs covered. Food, shelter, and a nice place to stay. Reporter nicole gulatz, with the red cross, explains they dont even know where theyre going yet. Local volunteers could be headed to florida, georgia, or the carolinas. It is always you know youre kind of waiting for the disaster to happen and we dont know whats going to happen were planning for whatever comes up. More volunteers will load up a truck with supplies like these. And head for the disaster zone. Distribute meals, relief items like clean up kits so people can get their lives back to normal. Reporter of course we dont know how long that getting back to normal will take. The woman with the red cross you just heard from tells me she might even be going at the end of november because the relief peterson. Anchor a company headquartered in waukesha is working overtime to get generators to people impacted by the storm. Generac Power Systems already has thousands of generators on standby in warehouses in the southeast. But as a Vice President with the Company Tells us that might not be enough. Whenever the storm hits and given the magnitude of Hurricane Matthew we know we need to send more supplies down there and thats what our teams are concentrating on as we speak. As Christina Palladino reports from milwaukees north side, the family started to worry after not hearing from her for days. Christina the family of 58yearold kaye powell tells wisn 12 news theyre devastated over her sudden death. One of powells sisters found Laundry Chute of her home near 8th and clarke. The family says they were in the process of moving out their sister from this home but they havent heard from her in the last few days. Relatives tell 12 news investigators are looking into powells death as a homicide. But a Milwaukee Police spokesman would only confirm her death is suspicious. Neighbors say they heard gunshots earlier this week but thats not unusual for this neighborhood. They also heard someone possibly breaking into the home last night. Happened. So yes, i am scared. Im scared for the other neighbors toobecause she lives upstairs. Reporter dickerson tells me powell was a friendly person and lived alone with her pets. She was nice.
