kathy: for the first 43 years of marriage these high school , sweethearts have grown up together. there are countless pictures of raising four children, living in , of grandkids. for some 12 years marty and , elaine schreiber have faced a painful, exhausting plunge into the heartaches of alzheimer's disease. now elaine will point out the same flower day after day . another day she might think , mart? is her dad. she cannot read to the grandkids. >> you have had a lot of jobs in your life. you have been a governor, run a how do they compare? >> well nothing can compares , with being a caregiver. kathy: in his book, my two elaines written together with cathy breitenbutcher, marty hopes to encourage caregivers to stop thinking they can go it alone and get as much help as possible something he resisted , at first. >> my health was going downhill , having difficulty breathing, all kinds of issues. finally because elaine made that , call i was able to understand , the need to get help. alzheimer's association of southeastern wisconsin. >> it is the only one that can't be prevented, can't be treated, can't be slowed, and certainly can't be cured. kathy: most of the support groups are for caregivers. >> just the emotional support of knowing someone is in the same boat as you can make a huge difference. >> if you understand the disease, you can avoid the pain the disease, because you know the brain is broken. kathy: one of his toughest challenges was moving elaine to a care facility. a counselor made him understand it would allow her to be who she is now. >> there was no way i could operate 24/7 nursing care facility, so now elaine is in a setting with assisted living and she is more relaxed, more comfortable. i can now can get a decent nights sleep and spend time with the grandkids and chil daily and hopes he will get another dance with the elaine he fell in love with when they were 14 years old. ? kathy: 43 years with his first elaine, and 12 years with his second. southeast wisconsin chapter 24/7. they have a helpline. it is 1-800-272-3900. joyce: his book is available now. kathy: it is a great way to hear about it, from somebody going through it, and he is just determined to let people know. joyce: holds a lot of good lessons. a mukwonago woman hit by a train last week is conscious and talking. kathy: patrick, her sister says they are still looking for answers. patrick: bilicki has multiple broken bones. her left arm was amputated and she has a head injury. her boyfriend, brandon calkins, has been charged. according a criminal complaint, bilicki called her mother before she was hit by the train and said calkins hurt her and pushed her down, causing her to hit her head. it's believed she lost consciousness from that head injury and fell down on train tracks, where she was then hit. her sister can't believe she's alive. >> she's coherent. she's laughing. this, which has kept us all in high spirits. patrick: prosecutors say they're waiting for the surveillance video from the train that hit her to see if it shows how she ended up on the track. joyce: incredible dashcam of a fiery crash. it happened after a police chase through two milwaukee suburbs. as colleen henry reports, a driver refused to stop for hales corners police until he slammed into an oncoming suv in greenfield. >> you can still see the aftermath here at 76th and layton, the knocked down retag >> what happened here is just incredible. >> the president of robert haack jewelers was checking out the damage. the crash overnight knocked out the store's retaining wall on the eve of the busiest shopping week of the year. >> right there was the light pole, it looks like right here was the fire hydrant, and obviously it is not there anymore. there is not even a poll. officer tried to stop a speeder who fled and headed east into greenfield, where he crashed into an oncoming suv. a dashcam rolled as a greenfield squad responded to the call and arrived moments after impact -- after impact. >> they arrived on the scene and assisted hales corners in removing three people from the two vehicles prior to the suspect vehicle being engulfed in flames. >> police say the two men in the suv suffered injuries that aren't life-threatening. the suspect is a 21-year-old milwaukee man. his car was destroyed and he , was checked out at the hospital he's in jail tonight, facing felony charges. hales corners police say they'll be at the district attorneys office on friday for charging. kathy: tomorrow is thanksgiving, a day filled with food and traditions. joyce: patrick is looking ahead to both. patrick: one of those traditions happens in racine. thousands of people are expected the free meal is open to everyone. it's an opportunity to come together as a community. friends, dan and ray started this tradition seven years ago when they decided to give back to their home town. the feast is from 10:00 to 2:00 tomorrow at racine festival hall. the milwaukee rescue mission will also put out a large thanksgiving meal. the mission serves local homeless people all year, but tomorrow is made special with turkey, stuffing and all the fixings. about 100 volunteers help get the meal together. also tomorrow, the fifth annual drumstick dash at miller park. the 5-k race begins at 8:30 in the morning. money raised from the race goes to feeding america, eastern wisconsin. there are several turkey trots tomorrow, including in one cedarburg. st. francis borgia school is hosting the event. it started eight years ago to get people physically active on thanksgiving morning. the fun run is a little longer than a 5-k. the walk is 1.8 miles. the turkey trot is pet friendly. it starts at 10:00 in the morning through the town of cedarburg. joyce: today, president obama pardoned two thanksgiving turkeys, but his daughters members who replaced them, and why. shouldn't knee and ankle supports comfortably fit your knees and ankles?
