and what an enormous difference this catch makes it fourth and two versus fourth and a mile. dave, you would call this a good call and a catch? >> absolutely, chris. both hands are under it. >> referee: after further stands. fourth down. >> nothing to show that ball hit the ground. >> kirk: the only thing that happens that instead of going tempo to try to go for it, now, with the review, the defense came to the sideline, clemson goes to the sideline, and now it slows things down for the florida state defense to kind of get things in order. >> chris: they are going for it. >> kirk: he's under center here. you have a big lineup there with dexter alexander in the wilkins. >> chris: jumbo formation. they run gallman behind it and he escapes and gallman galloping down near the 30. much more than what he needed. >> kirk: what a slasher. and what a great job to be able to follow the two big fellas, wilkins and lawrence. watch them pick up those blocks. you don't think they have an impact? they're blocking corners that are 180 pounds. these guys are over 300 pounds. good luck, mcfadden. you don't have a chance. space with those live legs, he is a talented back. >> chris: gallman's got it again. by the way, when they used that jumbo package, those two defensive linemen, they're now 4 for 4 converting this season. fun for the big d-linemen. wilkins told me he loves that. >> kirk: they get down inside that -- look at them talking about it. will kins gets more excited for those package plays than he does sacking the quarterback >> kirk: positive, positive energy and a great leader for this team. >> chris: deshaun rolling out. side-steps a man. is hit hard. driven down after a three-yard gain. >> kirk: another play by demarcus walker. not letting deshaun watson get to the corner. does a good job of containing him and forcing him back to the inside. make that play, but again, the senior, the veteran, making a play to set that up. >> kirk: huegel, kirk, was connecting from 50 in warmups. his long this season is 47. so, they're in range if they don't take a loss, but deshaun is thinking, move the chains on third and seven. has time. delivers. incomplete. off the outstretched hands of jordan leggett. and it will be attempt for the lead now coming up. >> kirk: they motioned him over. they got the look they wanted. and it just -- just beyond the outstretched hands there of his tight end, but he had exactly the look that he wanted when they motioned him over. in fact, they ran that play early in the game for a big gain. this time, just not quite able to connect. >> chris: snap it to seth ryan, that is a pressure field goal. hammers it right through. and clemson up by a point. 5:25 to play. taco bell's $5 cravings deal... ...with a cheesy gordita crunch... ...burrito supreme?... ...nachos... ...taco... ...and a baja blast?. all the cravings one person can handle, just five dollars. only at taco bell. [train horn] [ dove men+care. like leather, skin is stronger when it's hydrated. that's why dove men+care bodywash has a unique hydrating >> chris: you make your third field goal in three attempts to give your team the league. seth ryan, the routine with the holder there. dance there. boulware, smack him across the head. speaks volumes about the chemistry on this clemson team. you got defensive starters coming over to a kicker, giving him love like that. >> chris: he hasn't been very busy. he only attempted and made one field goal the last three games. 3 for 3 tonight. he should be pretty pumped up. drives this kick to the end zone. kermit whitfield's going to bring it out. whitfield, a little crease. and he's tackled over there at the 20 yard line. and that's where francois will take over with 5:19 to play. halloween night. the 5-1 vikes and the bears. jay cutler back under center. 6:00 eastern, "monday night countdown." kickoff at 8:15. also on the watch espn app. >> kirk: see how florida state rebounds after that last possession, where they had the big gain and pushed back after the unsportsmanlike conduct on they get the ball back. now trailing by a point. >> chris: cook. they go back to that play again. this time, he runs left. knocked down after a five-yard gain. >> kirk: that counter play has worked for some big yards, but you know that brent venables has told his team, take away the outside. both times they've run the counter, he got the edge and got down the sideline. and brent venables don't care if he goes back up the middle, but you better not let him get to the outside. >> chris: fake it to dalvin. francois roms out. delivers a long throw and a catch made at the 40 yard line, first down. whitfield. >> kirk: see, that's jimbo fisher. he runs the counter play, he runs the counter play, and then he runs the boot off the counter look. and then he rolls his quarterback out where he's comfortable. between francois and the move and his wide receiver. when cook gets the running game going, that entire chapter on the play -- on the play call chart opens up. >> chris: strong throw by the redshirt freshman. play action. side steps the rush. dalvin cook's open down field and he dropped the football at the 35. he had beaten boulware. did everything but catch it. boulware against cook. and that's a mismatch. it's a wheel route. protected just long enough for francois. watch his eyes, chris. see how he looks up? he peeks up. as good as he is, he peeks up to see who is coming towards him so he can make his next move. he knows he has boulware beat. but he's trying to see who's in front of him and by peeking up, just for a second, he took his eyes off the ball and dropped it. >> chris: thinking, just give me that play. they fake it to him again. and now francois's going to fire down the field for rudolph, in traffic, it's broken up. two flags come in. another interference call on the tigers. and francois, again, just knocked down hard after the throw. dlb was big. this was a running start by the middle linebacker, joseph. >> referee: pass interference, defense, number 25. 15-yard penalty. first down. >> kirk: i happened to be watching joseph the entire time. he got a on a delayed blitz and keep in mind, the hits that francois has been taking since the very first opening drive. watch 34 get a running start right there. just a clean hit, right into the sternum. >> chris: midsection, yeah. he has taken all manner of hits, as we pointed out, from the very first game of his college career. just brutalized by just about every opponent this season. >> kirk: there's the pass interference. tankersley with the left hand, grabbing onto the shoulder of travis rudolph. see, watch, he looks, by the time he looks back to find the ball, he's grabbing onto travis r rudolph. >> chris: that would have been, probably if he didn't interfere, it's going to be a long watch. but the concern, obviously, as maguire gets ready to perhaps go in for francois. >> kirk: it's been a very common theme throughout thi this is -- that's christian wilkins landing on top of him, along with the big hit. i don't think he knew where he was on that one. there's at outside pressure. that one from austin bryant. big dexter lawrence, 340 pounds coming down on top of him. and then this one, a full sprint by kendall joe receive, a linebacker, the culmination of all these hits taking a toll on one of the toughest dudes i've seen play this year at this that matter. >> chris: testament to toughness, what we called that road win at miami. wake forest knocked him around, he had two weeks to kind of get the shoulder healthy. get back to 100%, which he was coming into this game, but he's not 100% right now. >> kirk: if anybody can come back from all this, it would be this kid. clr now sean maguire is going to have to go in. he started against clemson, filling in for jameis, and then he was chosen to start over goallson last year in the loss, so, he's experienced but stone cold. >> kirk: this is why you take a lot of mental reps, for these kind of moments where you get thrown in and you got to be ready to make decisions. >> chris: you want to do this, if you're a backup, you've seen a starter get pummeled again and again, you want to finish the job if you can. stevenson, the fullback, has a stevenson gets the edge! dives down inside the 5. usually a guy who blocks for dalvin cook gets loose himself. >> kirk: they break a tendency and they run stevenson, and watch dalvin cook leading the way here. so, they go the opposite way and dalvin cook does a pretty good job along with ryan izzo in blocking, and stevenson, 6'1", 241 pounds, showing that he's got some speed himself down the sideline. >> chris: kirk, he just doubled his season. francois is back in the game. first and goal. cook. the hat trick for cook. and the noles reclaim the lead, up five, will go for two. >> kirk: got to go for two here, to make it a seven-point lead. a six-point lead really doesn't do you any good, if clemson were to go down and score a touchdown, obviously with the extra point. >> chris: dalvin, who dropped that pass, redeems himself with a block on stevenson's run and then the touchdown. >> kirk: that was beautiful. he's the hapes field right now. looking to the sideline, the tigers are for their defensive call here. >> kirk: and jimbo fisher is going to call a time-out. o second time on a two-point conversion. again, these time-outs are going to be precious as this game, you know, goes back and forth here in the final few minutes. >> chris: precious time-out, but a very important play, the and how dangerous, how clutch he is. have a look at the touchdown. >> kirk: after the big run by stevenson, that go right back with the stretch play, he was able to bounce it to the outside. has such a good feel. wiggins just doesn't have the speed out there. he immediately knew he was going to bounce that. good effort there by murray on fields to block. it was a one-on-one play. it was wiggins up against dalvin cook and he takes a bow, and he should. 33 yards in the first half. he has caught fire here in the second half, up to 172 yards now. averaging close to ten yards a carry with four touchdowns. >> chris: here's the two-point play. francois, some confusion there. rudolph who has had a tough night, only one catch. he wasn't turned around. >> kirk: miscommunication. he pulled away from ryan carter. he was wide open. jimbo fisher wants to talk to rudolph. watch him. see, he works his way down. watch him. if he just -- on the inside. watch him. now, just work the sideline. work towards the sideline. he's picking a i way from ryan carter. for some reason, he had a different call in mind. he turns and starts to run. there's no more room down the sideline. >> chris: if he turns the other way, he catches it. >> kirk: all he had to do was slide outside. an easy throw for francois. >> chris: rudolph last game, 13 for 238. one of the top five games in the history of florida state receiving. tonight, just the exact opposite. he's kind of giving it back to the coach there. the bigger picture is, florida state has a five-point lead. deshaun watson has 3:23 to work

and what an enormous difference this catch makes it fourth and two versus fourth and a mile. dave, you would call this a good call and a catch? >> absolutely, chris. both hands are under it. >> referee: after further stands. fourth down. >> nothing to show that ball hit the ground. >> kirk: the only thing that happens that instead of going tempo to try to go for it, now, with the review, the defense came to the sideline, clemson goes to the sideline, and now it slows things down for the florida state defense to kind of get things in order. >> chris: they are going for it. >> kirk: he's under center here. you have a big lineup there with dexter alexander in the wilkins. >> chris: jumbo formation. they run gallman behind it and he escapes and gallman galloping down near the 30. much more than what he needed. >> kirk: what a slasher. and what a great job to be able to follow the two big fellas, wilkins and lawrence. watch them pick up those blocks. you don't think they have an impact? they're blocking corners that are 180 pounds. these guys are over 300 pounds. good luck, mcfadden. you don't have a chance. space with those live legs, he is a talented back. >> chris: gallman's got it again. by the way, when they used that jumbo package, those two defensive linemen, they're now 4 for 4 converting this season. fun for the big d-linemen. wilkins told me he loves that. >> kirk: they get down inside that -- look at them talking about it. will kins gets more excited for those package plays than he does sacking the quarterback >> kirk: positive, positive energy and a great leader for this team. >> chris: deshaun rolling out. side-steps a man. is hit hard. driven down after a three-yard gain. >> kirk: another play by demarcus walker. not letting deshaun watson get to the corner. does a good job of containing him and forcing him back to the inside. make that play, but again, the senior, the veteran, making a play to set that up. >> kirk: huegel, kirk, was connecting from 50 in warmups. his long this season is 47. so, they're in range if they don't take a loss, but deshaun is thinking, move the chains on third and seven. has time. delivers. incomplete. off the outstretched hands of jordan leggett. and it will be attempt for the lead now coming up. >> kirk: they motioned him over. they got the look they wanted. and it just -- just beyond the outstretched hands there of his tight end, but he had exactly the look that he wanted when they motioned him over. in fact, they ran that play early in the game for a big gain. this time, just not quite able to connect. >> chris: snap it to seth ryan, that is a pressure field goal. hammers it right through. and clemson up by a point. 5:25 to play. taco bell's $5 cravings deal... ...with a cheesy gordita crunch... ...burrito supreme?... ...nachos... ...taco... ...and a baja blast?. all the cravings one person can handle, just five dollars. only at taco bell. give your team the league. seth ryan, the routine with the holder there. dance there. boulware, smack him across the head. speaks volumes about the chemistry on this clemson team. you got defensive starters coming over to a kicker, giving him love like that. >> chris: he hasn't been very busy. he only attempted and made one field goal the last three games. 3 for 3 tonight. he should be pretty pumped up. drives this kick to the end zone. kermit whitfield's going to bring it out. whitfield, a little crease. and he's tackled over there at the 20 yard line. and that's where francois will take they go back to that play again. this time, he runs left. knocked down after a five-yard gain. >> kirk: that counter play has worked for some big yards, but you know that brent venables has told his team, take away the outside. both times they've run the counter, he got the edge and got down the sideline. and brent venables don't care if he goes back up the middle, but you better not let him get to the outside. >> chris: fake it to dalvin. francois roms out. delivers a long throw and a catch made at the 40 yard line, first down. whitfield. >> kirk: see, that's jimbo fisher. he runs the counter play, he runs the counter play, and then he runs the boot off the counter look. and then he rolls his quarterback out where he's comfortable. between francois and the move and his wide receiver. when cook gets the running game going, that entire chapter on the play -- on the play call chart opens up. >> chris: strong throw by the redshirt freshman. play action. side steps the rush. boulware beat. but he's trying to see who's in front of him and by peeking up, just for a second, he took his eyes off the ball and dropped it. >> chris: thinking, just give me that play. they fake it to him again. and now francois's going to fire down the field for rudolph, in traffic, it's broken up. two flags come in. another interference call on the tigers. and francois, again, just knocked down hard after the throw. dlb was big. this was a running start by the middle linebacker, joseph. >> referee: pass interference, defense, number 25. 15-yard penalty. first down. >> kirk: i happened to be watching joseph the entire time. he got a on a delayed blitz and keep in mind, the hits that francois has been taking since the very first opening drive. watch 34 get a running start right there. just a clean hit, right into the sternum. >> chris: midsection, yeah. he has taken all manner of hits, as we pointed out, from the very first game of his college career. just brutalized by just about every opponent this season. >> kirk: there's the pass interference. tankersley with the left hand, grabbing onto the shoulder of travis rudolph. see, watch, he looks, by the time he looks back to find the ball, he's grabbing onto travis r rudolph. >> chris: that would have been, probably if he didn't interfere, it's going to be a long watch. but the concern, obviously, as maguire gets ready to perhaps go in for francois. >> kirk: it's been a very common theme throughout thi this is -- that's christian wilkins landing on top of him, along with the big hit. i don't think he knew where he was on that one. there's at outside pressure. that one from austin bryant. big dexter lawrence, 340 pounds coming down on top of him. and then this one, a full sprint by kendall joe receive, a linebacker, the culmination of all these hits taking a toll on one of the toughest dudes i've seen play this year at this that matter. >> chris: testament to toughness, what we called that road win at miami. wake forest knocked him around, he had two weeks to kind of get the shoulder healthy. get back to 100%, which he was coming into this game, but he's not 100% right now. >> kirk: if anybody can come back from all this, it would be this kid. clr now sean maguire is going to have to go in. he started against clemson, filling in for jameis, and then he was chosen to start over goallson last year in the loss, so, he's experienced but stone cold. >> kirk: this is why you take a lot of mental reps, for these kind of moments where you get thrown in and you got to be ready to make decisions. >> chris: you want to do this, if you're a backup, you've seen a starter get pummeled again and again, you want to finish the job if you can. stevenson, the fullback, has a stevenson gets the edge! dives down inside the 5. usually a guy who blocks for dalvin cook gets loose himself. >> kirk: they break a tendency and they run stevenson, and watch dalvin cook leading the way here. so, they go the opposite way and dalvin cook does a pretty good job along with ryan izzo in blocking, and stevenson, 6'1", 241 pounds, showing that he's got some speed himself down the sideline. >> chris: kirk, he just doubled his season. francois is back in the game. first and goal. cook. the hat trick for cook. and the noles reclaim the lead, up five, will go for two. >> kirk: got to go for two here, to make it a seven-point lead. a six-point lead really doesn't do you any good, if clemson were to go down and score a touchdown, obviously with the extra point. >> chris: dalvin, who dropped that pass, redeems himself with a block on stevenson's run and then the touchdown. >> kirk: that was beautiful. he's the hapes field right now. looking to the sideline, the tigers are for their defensive call here. >> kirk: and jimbo fisher is going to call a time-out. o second time on a two-point conversion. again, these time-outs are going to be precious as this game, you know, goes back and forth here in the final few minutes. >> chris: precious time-out, but a very important play, the and how dangerous, how clutch he is. have a look at the touchdown. >> kirk: after the big run by stevenson, that go right back with the stretch play, he was able to bounce it to the outside. has such a good feel. wiggins just doesn't have the speed out there. he immediately knew he was going to bounce that. good effort there by murray on fields to block. it was a one-on-one play. it was wiggins up against dalvin cook and he takes a bow, and he should.
