Richland county deputies are still looking into circumstances surrounding a person who was found shot in a crashed vehicle in Richland County last night. Investigators say shortly after 9 30 a vehicle was found crashed in the 400 block of seton hall drive. The victim was found inside with multiple gunshot wounds and later died at the hospital. Call crimestoppers if you know anything about the case. Fire crews in lugoff worked throughout the night to keep an eye on a series of brushfires that broke out yesterrday evening near highway 1. The Lugoff Fire Department says its been able to contain the fires near the pepperidge subdivisionand that no impacted at this point. Lugoff fire marshall will catoe says the Forestry Commission is also on scene. Weve got about eight Fire Departments on scene with 45 firefighters. We are actively trying to put the fires out. A Richland County Council Member facing felony charges for allegedly driving drunk, is touching off worries among his fellow Council Members. Councilman kelvin washington was released from jail sunday after being arrested for felony dui. Highway patrol says two people were taken to the hospital saturday night after washington rear ended their vehicle. If hes convicted, washington could get at least a 51 hundred dollar fine and up to 15 years in yesterday councilman seth rose told wis now is the time for washington to let someone else take over his duties on council become abundantly clear that mr. Hundreds of people gathered last night to protest the killing of 24 year old akiel denkins, pictured here. Police say he was shot and killed after a short foot chase near downtown raleigh. Police say denkins was wanted on a felony drug charge but did not touch on why the officer shot him. Witnesses say denkins was unarmed. Police say they found a gun near the mans body. A Tiger Airways jet made an Emergency Landing in melbourne, australia this reported ill. The plane landed safely after the fire brigade and ambulances were put on standby. Tiger airways said the crew detected an unusual odor in the cabin during the descent into melbourne. Tensions are on the rise in a officerinvolved shooting, monday that left one man dead. Hundreds of people gathered last night to protest the killing of 24 year old akiel denkins, pictured here. In a brief News Conference, police say he was shot and killed after a short foot chase near downtown raleigh. Police say denkins was wanted on a felony drug charge but did not touch on why the officer shot him. Witnesses say denkins was unarmed. The victims mother was in tears on the scene, and is demanding answers from police. They killed my son for no reason. Everybody out here said that he was running, didnt have a gun, trying to jump a fence and the officer shot my son seven times, for what . For nothing. Police are giving a different report from witnesses. Officers say they found a gun near denkins body. An investigation will determine who the gun belongs to. Political experts say today could make or break some campaigns specifically on the republican side. A total of 595 republican delegates are up for grabs of the 1,237 needed to clinch the gop nomination. A new cnnorc poll today shows donald trump with a sizable lead, getting 49 percent of the republican primary vote followed by marco rubio with 16 percent and ted cruz with 15 percent. A local political expert says todays vote could determine where each candidate stands in future of this race. The momentum builds it seems to move very quick. And once theres the appearance of someone steamrolling through these primaries, it becomes over very quickly. And its very close to that point for donald trump at this point. Its important to note that twothirds of republican votes so far have been toward one of the other four candidates. And political experts say after the more than twelve states vote today we will have a better idea of which candidates will still be in the race. Defending home turf will be the key today for senator ted cruz. Yesterday, the republican candidate campaigned across texas in a bid to win its huge delegate prize. Rival donald trump said he thinks he has a very good chance of winning the lone star state. But cruz told reporters in dallas hes confident in his texas chances, despite trumps momentum. Cruz says a strong texas performance will narrow the gop contest to a two person race between he and trump. Were working to get every vote winning texas. A win in texas is very simple it is winning texas donald trump is, in all likelihood, gonna have a big chuck of delegates and we are, i believe, gonna have a big chunk of delegates and i think everyone else will be way, way, way behind. At that point, it will become abundantly clear, this is a 2 man race. Meanwhile, marco rubio is still fighting to win his first state in the republican nominating contest. The florida senator has consistently placed 2nd or 3rd in primary voting contests thus far. Rubio was in tennessee yesterday where he made several mentions of donald trump calling the gop frontrunner unelectable referencing trumps reported failure to immediately disavow support from a white supremacist leader. Rubio also attacked trumps record. What hes saying to people isnt true. It doesnt match his record. And yet somehow its gotten to this point. Its gotten too far. Its called a con job. And we are not going to allow a con artist to take control of the party of lincoln and rubio also held rallies in super tuesday nominating states of georgia, arkansas, and oklahoma. A bit of wild scene at a Trump Campaign event monday where a photographer is accusing a secret Service Agent of choking him and slamming him to the ground. Time magazine photographer chris morris told cnn he stepped just 18 inches outside the media pen when the agent put his hands around his neck. Trumps campaign has not yet commented on the incident. The secret service also says it is aware of the incident and is working with local Law Enforcement on the matter. On the democratic side Hillary Clinton is hoping her South Carolina landslide becomes an even bigger super tuesday victory lap against rival Bernie Sanders. Right now a new National Poll has clinton leading sanders by about 17 percent. A strong super tuesday could give her just about all the delegates she needs to wrap up the race. With such a commanding lead, clinton has been shifting her focus from beating sanders to beating republicans while sanders has been working to draw big crowds of supporters who support his call for a political president ial candidate tomorrow in 11 states, including massachusetts, there will be over 800 delegates up for deciding. We anticipate winning many of them and a majority of them right here in massachusetts. A judge ruled monday that the United States Justice Department cannot force apple to provide the fbi with access to data from a locked iphone in a brooklyn drug case. The judges decision supports apples controversial stance on not assisting the fbi with accessing the iphone used by one of the suspected shooters in the San Bernardino terrorist attacks. He was convicted of sexually assaulting a 26 yearold woman back in 2005. A small passenger bus and four fuel pumps were destroyed in a dramatic fire at a San Francisco gas station. Officials say the bus driver pulled into the station monday after his engine started overheating and smoking.
