They spoke on behalf of her president ial campaign at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church monday during a forum called breaking down barriers. The group included the mothers of trayvon martin, sandra bland, eric garner, and dontre hamilton. The women say clinton is the only candidate who listened and talked with them about their concerns with gun violence, racial profiling and social justice. She calls and says, what can i do for you . How can i help . and she really listened. She was taking notes. Her and she sat back there turned that half and hour meeting into two hours because she was going to sit there and listen to every one of our stories and take heed and see what she can do for us. The women will also make another appearance today at central Baptist Church in columbia. Doors open at 4 45. The event begins at 6 15. Meanwhile clintons challenger Bernie Sanders is campaigning in South Carolina and beyond. He made a quick stop in sumter monday before heading off to boston where he picked up an endorsement from peoples politics. He pointed to his belief that challenger, Hillary Clinton appears to be adopting some of his positions on issues hes been advocating. He also said despite recent primary results, hes in the race for the long haul. We ended up doing a lot better than people thought we could do, and we will continue to do a lot better in the coming months, s sders said the goal for his campaign is to strongly contrast his record with clintons. As we head into saturdays democratic primary, you still have time to vote absentee. If you want to receive a ballot by mail you must turn in your application by today. You can vote in person at your county Voter Registration office until 5 pm on friday. A controversial lower Richland County sewer project faces its next hurdle. And neighbors are keeping up their push to shut it down. Our chad mills has the latest. This is our home. This is where we live. Dont destroy it. We beg you not to destroy it. The county council has already advanced a plan to modernize an aging sewer system thats failing in some instances. In this meeting, dhec answered questions and recorded Public Comments before it makes its decision on whether to permit the project or not. Andre williams hopes dhec can shoot it down. Even though the county has said current homeowners can keep their functioning septic tanks, he believes theres still the possibility that failing tanks will cause homeowners to tap into the new sewer line. What they have told us in the previous meetings is that it can cost anywhere between 2,000 to 6,000. On an average income, as you heard here today, you know, some of these families dont make that. Meanwhile, he and others dont think theres a need for a new system either. Midlands Technical College is celebrating black History Month with a special salute to its own contribution. Ininstigators are still working to learn the motive behind an uber drivers shooting rampage that left 6 people dead in kalamazoo, michigan over the weekend. 45 year old jason dalton is being charged with 6 counts of murder after his appearance in court monday the prosecutor sa so far, has not given a motive. Officials say when asked if he had anything to say he responded that he would prefer to remain silent. 8 people were shot. 6 were killed. If convicted, dalton could be prison. Lexington police say they have received several reports of scammers trying to take advantage of people in the midst of tax season. Police say a man claiming to be an irs agent is calling people regarding a federal criminal investigation. The calls appear to be from two there on your screen. If you get a call that is Suspicious Police are asking you to never give out any personal information and to not call registry list. Columbia police are still working to piece together evidence that could be related to the reported shooting at the Columbiana Centre mall over the weekend. The Highway Patrol responded to old chapin and beech creek roads in lexington last night to investigate a single vehicle crash. Myers was arrested when officers went to his home and determined it was his car. This is not myers first dui charge. And served a year probation. In 2012 he was charged with having an open container. Investigators are still working motive behind an uber drivers shooting rampage that left 6 people dead in kalamazoo, michigan over the weekend. 45 year old jason dalton is being charged with 6 counts of murder after his appearance in court monday the Prosecutor Says dalton admitted to his involvement in the shootings but so far, has not given a motive. Officials say when asked if he had anything to say he responded that he would prefer to remain silent. 8 people were shot. 6 were killed. If convicted, dalton could be sentenced to life in prison. Uber now says it received complaints about jason dalton from several passengers saturday but prior to that night had no reason to believe anything was amiss with dalton. One passenger reported to Police Driving erratically more than an hour before the shootings began.
