warmer through the weekend! friday sunday: partly cloudud highs in the upper 60s to middle 70s by sunday. changes coming as it looks wet and cooler starting monday and much of the next week. trending in decision 2016 news this morning -- presidential candidate ted cruz the republican campaign trail. the latest nbc news-wall street journal poll finds cruz the leading candidate among likely republican voters -- just two points ahead of donald trump with florida senator marco rubio in 3rd place. ted cruz, marco rubio and ben carson were 3 candidates tackling the topics on the minds of voters, just days before a crucial primary. all 3 were on stage last night for a town hall hosted by cnn in greenville. karin caifa was there. ben carson, marco rubio and ted cruz took questions from audience members, as well as moderator anderson cooper. some audience members -- undecided voters. some leaning in one direction, but not entirely committed to a candidate in saturday's primary. handling national security and policy, and readiness to be commander-in- chief -- it's an important topic here in south carolina -- and a question posed to both the neurosurgeon ben carson, and the freshman senator, marco rubio. presidential candidate "ya know i can guarantee you that i've had more 2am phone calls than anybody else, all the rest of them put together, have had to make life and death decisions." presidential candidate "as both a member of the intelligence committee and foreign relations committee over the last five years i've been dealing with every single a question posed to rubio hinted at an anxiety some voters feel over? the last candidate to take trump's personality, than his suggest we go should have commander-in-chief." trump will be among the republican candidates who take time on wednesday trading jabs on the trail and on twitter. in greenville, south carolina, i'm karin caifa. marco rubio picks up one of his south carolina. ladies and gentlemen if we elect marco rubio, every day will be a great day in america." governor haley announced her endorsement of rubio during his campaign event in chapin yesterday. she talked about how her lifestyle was similar to rubio's -- stating he understands the hardships of americans. haley says she believes rubio will bring unity to the republican party. "i want a president who's going to have the backs of our military veterans and those in active duty. i want a president who knows that when we fight wars, we win wars. i want a president who understands we need to stop the federal mandates states because of obamacare and the epa." govenor haley will be joining marco rubio on his campaign trail today. she's scheduled to appear at his event in greenville this morning. while governor haley heard cheers from the crowd in chapin -- her name earned some boos in sumter. that's where donald trump spoke to a crowd of thousands. our chad mills was there. just minutes after governor nikki haley endorsed senator marco rubio in chapin. lt. gov. henry mcmaster "you usually don't see crowds like this, people like this, this many, at an event like this." .her lieutenant governor, henry mcmaster, introduced the front-runner to thousands at the sumter county civic center. lt. gov. henry mcmaster "this is an important moment in the history of our country." donald trump was greeted by chants of "u.s.a" and "build that wall" from the supportive crowd. while he continues s maintain a south carolina polls, he cautioned his supporters. donald trump "you have to assume we're tied, okay? please assume you're tied, because on saturday, you have to get out and vote." trump continued his push for a wall to fight illegal immigration. donald trump "we have 179,000 we found this out the other day criminal illegal they're in the country. they're all over the place." in a crowd where some wore shirts that read "hillary for prison 2016," trump attacked the democratic candidate on her e-mail scscdal. donald trump "did you ever notice the way president doesn't want to do this." i mean, did you ever here her so solicitous? i mean, you know why. tell me why. that's right. she doesn't want to get indicted. that's right." trump attacked some fellow republicans too. he called ted cruz a liar and had some words for governor nikki haley. .haley's name was booed by the crowd as soon as trump spoke it. donald trump "first of all, she's very weak on illegal immigration. very weak." donald trump will appear in columbia tongiht for the 2nd town hall hosted by cnn. jeb bush and john kasich will also be there. those new poll numbers released yesterday are suggesting trump could be losing his edge nationally. according to nbc ted cruz is now polling two percentage points ahead of trump. marco rubio comes in third in that poll with 17 percent...followed by john kasich, ben carson, and jeb bush. cruz didn't seem too surprised by the numbers. "it's tremendously encouraging...to be leading the field nationally, i think as a result. hj: did you ever think you'd be here? cruz: that was always the plan. that's how you win. you've gotta get to first place to win." when it comes to polling in south carolina however, the numbers continue to show cruz well behind donald trump. to cast your vote in the saturday there are a few things to keep in mind. polls around the state open up at 7 am and close at 7 pm. you must have a form of photo id present. accepted forms of i.d. include a driver license, i.d. card from the dmv, voter registration card with a photo, military i.d. or a passport. once you've been checked in, a polling manager will take you to the voting booth. "anytime one of our vehicles are involved in any kind of traffic collision, south carolina highway patrol is the agency that is responsible for that investigation. they are also looking into this case right now. and we are really in the early phases of what will be a lengthy process. highway patrol's mait team was on the scene overnight collecting evidence needed to reconstruct this crash. we've made calls to the highway patrol and we hope to get an update this morning on where they stand in the investigation. live in lexington county, michal higdon, wis news 10. ted cruz, who is now the republican frontrunner according to a new nbc news/wall street journal poll, is upping his ante in attacks against donald trump. cruz is now leading trump by two percentage points. earlier this week-- the trump camp sent cruz a cease-and-desist letter, calling for cruz to get rid of an ad publicizing trump's supposed former pro-choice views on abortion-- or he'll sue. cruz's response to trump? bring on the lawsuits. "i'll confess, i laughed out loud. this has not been a typical race by any sense. and i don't think anyone is surprised that donald is threatening to sue people. he's done that most of his adult but this letter really was -- look, i've practiced law 20 years, and this letter really pressed the bounds of the most frivolous and ridiculous letters i've ever seen." cruz made the comments while at a cnn town hall in greenville last night. cruz continues his south carolina tour ahead of the first in the south primary this weekend. this afternoon, cruz will be in easley with senator mike lee. that's at three p-m and it's free. the event will be on powdersville road. meanwhile-- florida senator marco rubio is getting personal. the republican candidate spoke in greenville on wednesday night-- recalling his experience with racism growing up. he says he was too young to understand the issue, but that americans should confront racism in a responsible way-- in order to continue being a great nation. "i do recall growing up in las vegas, and some of the neighborhood kids were taunting my family, saying why don't you go back on your boat, why i was so young. i said, 'i marco rubio picked up a coveted endorsement in governor nikki haley. governor haley told a crowd on wednesday in columbia that she wanted somebody quote "humble enough" to work for all americans. she also said she wanted to endorse a candidate that would show her immigrant parents that coming to america was the best decision they ever made. "donald trump's not a a steady hand for sure and he's not a servant. intimidating. he's a bully. punch him back in the nose." bush will make a stop in rock hill today as he continues his campaign. he'll be at the magnolia room on laurel creek drive to host a town hall meeting. that's at 5:30. meanwhile-- the campaign trail wasn't so friendly for john kasich. kasich was interrupted by a group of planned parenthood protesters in bluffton yesterday. they asked the ohio governor why he hated women's health. kasich brushed off the interruption-- saying he loves when young people show up and protest. he said he supports strengthening women's healthcare and cutting funding for planned parenthood. friday sunday: partly cloudy, highs in the upper 60s to middle 70s by sunday. changes coming as it looks wet and cooler starting monday and much of the next week. back to our top story this morning-- three lexington county deputies injured after two of emergency call. this happened on platt springs road near old orangeburg road. our michal higdon is live where this crash happened with the latest details. the scene at this point in the morning is clear and a very different picture than what we were seeing just hours ago. i talked with adam myrick, the spokesperson for the lexington county sheriff's department. he says all three deputies involved in this crash are in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries and expected to be okay. this is video of what that crash scene looked like last night. right now details are still very limited on how this crash happened -- as we await new information from the highway patrol. what we do know is the crash happened sometime between 8:30 and 9 o'clock last night. two deputies and one reserve deputy were responding to a burglary- in-progress call when their vehicles collided. right now investigators are not how the crash happened. myrick says that will be up to the highway patrol to determine. "anytime one of our vehicles are involved in any kind of traffic collision, south carolina highway patrol is the agency that is responsible for that investigation. so as per the standard policy, they are also looking into this case right now. and we are really in the early phases of what will be a lengthy process. highway patrol's mait team was on the scene overnight collecting evidence needed to reconstruct this crash. we've made calls to the highway patrol and we hope to get an update this morning on where they stand in the investigation. live in lexington county, michal higdon, wis news 10. new national frontruner ted cruz is upping the ante in attacks against donald trump. earlier this week-- the trump cease-and-desist letter, threatening to sue unless cruz got rid of an ad on trump's former pro-choice views on abortion, that trump says were false. cruz's response to trump? bring on the lawsuits. "i'll confess, i laughed out loud. this has not been a typical race by any sense. and i don't think anyone is surprised that donald is threatening to sue people. he's done that most of his adult life. but this letter really was -- look, i've practiced law 20 years, and this letter really pressed the bounds of the most frivolous and ridiculous letters i've ever seen." cruz made the comments while at a cnn town hall in greenville last night. cruz continues his south carolina tour ahead of the saturday primary today in easley. he'll be campaigning with senator mike lee. the event will be on powdersville road. meanwhile-- florida senator marco rubio is getting personal. rubio took the stage before cruz at that cnn town hall -- recalling his experience with racism growing up. he says he was too young to but that americans should confront racism in a responsible way-- in order to continue being a great nation. "i do recall growing up in las vegas, and some of the neighborhood kids were taunting my family, saying why don't you go back on your boat, why don't you go back to your country. i didn't know what they were talking about. i was so young. i said, 'i don't swim.'" governor nikki haley shared a similar story about growing up in america when she announced her endorsement of rubio -- part of the reason she says she's now backing him governor haley told a crowd on wednesday in columbia that she wanted somebody quote "humble enough" to work for all americans. she said she wanted to endorse a candidate that would show her immigrant parents that coming to america was the best decision they ever made.
