"i don't know ask more questions i guess, i just assumed the city would take care of it." due to the size of the break, officials warn the tap water in ames may appear to be rusty. the city says its still safe to drink... but it could stain clothes if used to do laundry. so, cold water for several minutes until it's clear. police are investigating an apparent shoot-out in eagle grove... it happened in front of this apartment building around eight last night. police say two people were shot... one they're calling the victim.. the other the suspect. investigators are not saying if the two shot each other.. or if one shot the other and himself. police say neither person is from eagle grove. sandy 13:26:39 this is a small town. everybody gets along. everybody knows everybody. i was really surprised. 50 dci 16:10:02 this was a very isolated incident between two individuals. we do not feel like there's any public safety issue to the community or the residents of eagle grove or wright county 13 both people are hospitalized in des moines in critical condition. a bus driver has pleaded not guilty to the the charge that he hit and and killed an iowa state student, and then left the scene. ben clague was driving the bus that police say hit and killed emmalee jacobs. police say say clague stopped the bus shortly after the accident to check the vehicle for damage and then continued on. clague will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on march 22nd. his trial is scheduled for april 5th. a domestic abuse survivor wants iowa lawmakers to quit treating repeat offenders with kid-gloves... in 20-09 tiffany allison was attacked by her boyfriend. he was charged and convicted... but was released from prison after serving 10-months of a 30-month sentence. once out he attacked another woman. allison is trying to get lawmaker's attention with this... i was his fifth victim, i almost didn't get away, i was his sixth victim, i never thought that this would happen to me, i was his most recent victim, number seven, i'll never be the same 'im really scared hes going to do this again and potentially kill someone the next time and i know i dont want to be responsible for so hard to get this legislation passed.' that legislation would require repeat offenders to serve at least 85- percent of their sentence. current they only serve a little more than 30. the bill was introduced last year... but failed to make it out of a sub-committee... this year she hopes lawmaker are taking notice.
