the victims families didn't want to speak to the media, but told authorities they are devastated by this news but at the same time it also gives some closure suspects---both yenger and dye are being held in the wapello county jail on a 500-thousand dollar bond each. des moines police are still following up on leads in the city's first homicide of the year. police found the body of 71-year old norma jean mc-neeley in her home on pioneer road early sunday morning. they're not saying how they believe mcneeley died... but the police report indicates nothing was taken from the home. police say they're conducting interviews and processing evidence... but do not have a suspect at this time... we're awaiting autopsy results in the death of a prominent des moines architect. 62 year old kirk blunck died sunday. an autopsy was performed this morning. police say they are trying to determine if blunck's death was an accident.. or firm are credited with several historic renovations in des moines... including the teachout building in the east village where blunck died. a former band teacher has pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual abuse. benjamin thompson was accused of assaulting a 15-year old in charles city back in 20-11. he's entered a written guilty plea and sentencing is set for march 28th. in marion county, thompson is also charged with three counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee... he was the assistant band director at pella high school. thompson pleaded not guilty in that case and is expected to appear in court in april. a mother faces charges, after a deadly crash in eastern iowa - and she wasn't even in the car. fayette county deputies say 38-year old james tackett lost control of his car... and crashed into a business in clermont. a five year old girl was in the back seat. tackett died in the crash. paramedics took the girl to the hospital. she is expected to be ok... investigators say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. convicted sex offender that didn't register in fayette county. they say the girl's mother knew that, but left her five year old in tackett's care anyway. 27-year old hilary upton now faces a child endangerment charge. and investigators believe a dart bus driver may have suffered from a medical condition just prior to slamming into a des moines home last night.. the dart bus went through janet brown's living room. fortunately, brown had just left the living room and wasn't hurt. the bus driver and a passenger were treated for injuries. the unemployment rate is holding steady in iowa... the jobless rate remained at 3.4 percent... the number of unemployed iowans fell to 58-thousand-300 that's about 500-fewer than november.... and down 15-thousand from one year ago. iowa workforce development says the unemployment rate has been falling since january of last year. senate democrats released their budget proposal today... it calls for nearly seven-point-four billion dollars in general fund spending. that's less than governor branstad is proposing. democratic leaders say their increase in funding for schools... and still spend less than what the state takes in. house republicans haven't released their full budget proposal yet. but they did vote yesterday to increase school funding by two- percent. governor branstad proclaimed this school choice week.. it's designed to spotlight education options.. like public or private schools, charter schools, home schooling, online learning and more. 35:47 when i think of school choice, i also think of duel credit coarse that let students earn high joins us with more on the results heading into caucus monday. the numbers show there's plenty of room for one candidate to make his or her move. the survey only included likely caucus goers... iowans who are definitely or probably attending. from a list of 5-thousand republicans, 5 thousand democrats and two thousand independents, a little more than 700 people were polled. trying to shore up their ground game heading into next monday. they're hard at work trying to win over all the undecided voters. and the poll shows there are still a lot up for grabs. the same sample was used in november and then again this month as a comparison. the biggest change in this poll is the issue that iowans say they will base their vote on.. it used to be the economy... now it's terrorism. something else to note, about 27 percent said they changed their minds over the course of the campaign... and are now supporting another candidate. just days out, the number crunchers say it's a "pick 'em" situation on
