>> jennifer: sarah, nancy, protests continued into the early morning hours in charlotte. officials say several officers have been injured. the crowds overnight. the protesting began after a deadly officer-involved shooting in the city. investigators say man was shot on tuesday while officers were looking for a different person at an apartment complex. officers say the man was armed with a gun when a black officer shot him. late last night protesters gathered at the apartment complex. others ended up on a major highway where they forced traffic to be shut down in both directions. smoke bombs were seen going off as officers formed a line to try to block advancing down the interstate. demonstrators say the violence needs to end. >> there was a terrorist new jersey, new york. he was taken alive. they say they wanted to question him. because of you wanting to question him, does his life mean more than our black men across the nation? it doesn't make any sense. >> jennifer: the officer who shot the man has been placed on administrative leave. he's been with the department apartment complex. in the newsroom, jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: breaking overnight, a violent night in two boston neighborhoods. police working several crime scenes. >> nancy: and in dorchester, reports that one person was killed. let's go live to 7's john cuoco for the latest on the investigations. good morning to you, john. >> john: good morning, nancy. we're looking potentially at one person killed, one injured, and cars covered in bullet holes. police are investigating three reported shootings here in proves to be deadly according to the "boston globe." all three happened last night. one took place on downer avenue. another on dudley street, a third on boston street. the "globe" says the man was killed around 8:00. the victim was taken to boston medical center but he later died. investigators have not made an arrest in this case. according to the "globe," police say this was the 24th deadly shooting in boston this year. officers are also looking into reports of shots being fired on rockland street. bullet holes were found in area appears to have been injured in the shooting. and finally, the "globe" says, a man who was injured in the shooting on dudley street is expected to survive. they say the man was hit in the leg at around 8:30. this victim was also taken to boston medical center. officers have not said that they have identified a suspect in that shooting. now, all of these cases are developing stories, so when we get more information, we'll bring it right to you. for now live outside boston police headquarters, john cuoco, >> sarah: right now a little boy is in the hospital after being struck in the street. the two-year-old was hit by a car in brockton. 7's nicole oliverio live now with the very latest. nicole? >> nicole: sarah, we spoke with some family members yesterday, obviously too distraught to speak on camera. they say that boy is now in a boston hospital. you can see the only thing that remains from this investigation is the crime scene tape attached to this utility pole. two-year-old boy was hit by a car and badly hurt. friends of the family say the boy's parents rushed to his side hysterical. >> i went over there and saw the baby and saw the ambulance. i saw him moving. i don't know what was going on. i was so shaky. >> nicole: police and paramedics quickly arrived. the toddler was put enter an ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital and eventually taken by medical helicopter to boston. >> i went over there and saw the baby in the ambulance. i saw i was so shaky that i didn't see nothing. i don't know. i just know he's not doing too good. he's in boston right now. and i pray that everything comes good. i hope they catch the person and do not let him out until that baby survives. >> nicole: the car that allegedly hit the boy, this toyota. police say the driver stayed at the scene. accident reconstruction crews trying to figure out what happened. right now police are calling this a horrible accident and neighbors say in general this is a busy street and people who live there always keep an eye out when children are playing. >> everybody knows everybody here. people keep an eye on them. today i don't know what happened exactly that the eyes wasn't there and the kids just ran. this is the first time. >> nicole: family friends say that they believe the boy was in critical condition. police have not given an update. we do know that his family is with him at the hospital. live in brockton, nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." >> nancy: now to a story you'll see on just one station, a prominent north shore plastic surgeon arrested, accused of possessing crack cocaine. 7's victoria warren live in lynn with the details. >> victoria: good morning. dr. sheldon sevinor is nationally known. he's been on programs like "the view" and other tv shows. he was once voted boston's best plastic surgeon, but over the weekend police here in lindsay they call him possessing -- police in lynn say they caught he's a well-known, internationally recognized plastic surgeon, but police say he was in possession of crack cocaine in lynn on sunday. >> he's a very powerful person in this town. i'm pretty shocked. i had no idea. >> victoria: according to a police report, a lynn detective watching a suspected drug dealer say he and another officer say they witnessed the doctor buying crack. the detective says when the officers approached the plastic throwing motion toward the ground and we both observed several packets of suspected narcotics fall out of his hand. the doctor has a private practice at north shore medical center union hospital in lynn. union hospital is also where he performed surgery. the doctor has been on the msnc medical staff for 39 years. msnc released this statement. "we are very concerned about retirement from our medical staff. additionally we have no record of any prior issues of this nature with the doctor." the doctor's attorney released this statement, "the doctor has been a respected surgeon for 40 years. he has never been accused of any type of inappropriate behavior. that said, i respectfully decline to make any additional comment. we're in the process of reviewing the allegations and will respond at the appropriate time. the doctor's attorney was in lynn district court yesterday setting an arraignment date for next month. live this morning in lynn, victoria warren, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: happening today, the family of a new hampshire woman who was raped and murdered taking their fight to the state supreme court, trying to reverse an order to unseal records about the victim's past sexual history. lizzi marriott was killed in 2012. the controversial order comes as this court order is in direct opposition of the rape shield law to protect a victim's privacy. >> nancy: turning now to the terror takedown in new york and new jersey, the man accused of setting off bombs in both states is now facing federal terrorism charges. federal prosecutors say ahmad khan rahami bought bomb-making equipment online. investigators say he also wrote about planning the attacks in a journal, and one of those entries said he hoped the sounds of the bombs would b rahami is already facing murder charges for injuring two new jersey police officers during a shoot-out on monday. that's officer peter hammer receiving thunderous applause as he was received in the hospital tuesday morning. he was shot in the head while trying to arrest rahami. hammer says he's lucky to be alive. >> i got shot in the head. i'm glad to be alive. afternoon as the clouds thinned on out and we got a little sunshine in place, despite all of this rain, still lingering to the south of us, none of it is going to make its way into new england. in fact, eventually it will get kicked out off to the east of us. and if you look from whether the wealth is coming in from -- weather is coming in from, low to mid-80s out there this day-to-day investigators say they have been searching for another individual when they spotted the man with the gun. a block officer shot this black man. several officers were injured during the protests throughout the city. breaking overnight, police are investigating three reported shootings in boston including one that proved to be deadly, according to the boston "globe." all three happened last officer barrett in a red sox jersey slammed gurin's face twice. >> we proved that did not happen. >> jennifer: in another video, you see gurin running down boylston street and officer barrett commissioner evans says it would have been a felony if the car window had been damaged. that's why officer barrett chased after gurin. >> if someone commits a crime, i expect my officers to act. >> was an army veteran who served in iraq and afghanistan. relatives of murdered mit police officer sean collier calling for an official day to honor first responders. the tsarnaev brothers shot and today, boston police officers cracking down on drag racing in southie. officers say they worked to catch people parse painting in illegal drag races in the new market square area in south boston. officer-involved shooting in the city. investigators say man was shot on tuesday while officers were looking for a different person at an apartment complex. officers say the man was armed with a gun when a black officer shot him. late last night protesters gathered at that apartment complex. others ended up on i-85. traffic with -- traffic was stopped in both directions. smoke bombs were seen officer was injured after a brawl on tuesday night. one person was arrested on a gun charge. police arrested seven more people after the brawl. the officer was hurt while running after a suspect. >> drinking while taking care of their children on monday. police say one of the women was lying in a puddle while holding her child above her head. they have been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. >> nancy: a rhode island man accused of plotting with isis is set to plead guilty. the man is set to face terrorist charges. he and two massachusetts men organized a prophet muhammad cartoon contest last year. that attack never happened, but the man's associate was killed after allegedly charging police with a knife in roslindale. >> sarah: right now boston animal control looking for the owner of these two dogs. they say the dogs were tied the a tree and abandoned at the arnold arboretum over the weekend. they're asking anyone who recognizes the dogs or saw them to give a heartless crime in milton. thieves steal a special sculpture made to honor victims of the holocaust. one of those victims the artist's sister. the artist says he made the sculpture to honor the people who died. >> a decent resting place for my sister and for the 1.5 million children who also died in the because they went up in smoke. >> sarah: the sculpture was two bronze stars of david along with hands that symbolized the final resting place for the victims. >> nancy: happening today, the house homeland security committee is celt to meet this morning following the terror takedown in york. the morning's hearing will address how to stop potential future attacks. it follows separate explosions that happened over the weekend. ahmad khan rahami has been arrested and charged in connection w and the head of the company that drastically raised the price of its lifesaving epipen will testify during a congressional hearing today. mylan c.e.o. heather bresch is set to answer questions from the house oversight committee. bresch is saying mylan doesn't plan to lower its price. they've been slammed for raising the price of the epipen to $600. >> sarah: the c.e.o. of wells tar go under fire from elizabeth stumpf for profiting off deceptive practices. stumpf fired 5,300 employees when the fraud was exposed. warren told stumpf he should be the one losing his job. >> you squeezed your employees to the breaking point so they could cheat customers and you could drive up the value of your stock and put hundreds of millions ofol pocket, and when it all blew up, you kept your job, you kept your multimillion dollar bonuses, and you went on television to blame thousands of $12 an hour employee. ism warren also demanded the system -- sec and the department of criminal justice investigate. a lawyer for man who shot an he says officer betty jo shelby believes terence crutcher was on drugs and was uncooperative when his car stalled in the middle of the road. the lawyer confirmed that shelby shot and killed crutcher because she thought he was reaching inside his s.u.v. for a gun. attorneys for crutcher's family disagree. officials are still investigating this morning to see if criminal charges should be filed. to the fight against isis now. the u.s. has reached a preliminary conclusion that russian warplanes convoy in syria. the white house has taken the position that russia is responsible for the strike regardless of whether it was their planes or the syrian regime that carried out the attack. convoy was hit monday night, prompting the u.n. to halt this aid operation in syria. >> sarah: 7news now turning to complaints about the new iphone. >> nancy: customers say the iphone 7 is making some strange sounds. apple has gotten several complaints that the iphone 7 hissing noise. customers have posted videos on twitter of the phones making that noise and iphone users say the sound happens when it's using a lot of apps. samsung meantime says 500,000 replacements for its galaxy note 7 have now arrived in the united states, and people will be able to start exchanging them today. the phones were recalled after reports they burst into flames. samsung says they have already exchanged about 25% of the phones in the u.s. >> sarah: new report is leading to some water worries for people who drink tap water. the report says more than 200 million americans are drinking water that potentially contains dangerous amounts of a toxic carcinogen. water samples in phoenix had the highest level of toxin nationwide. and samples from city wells had the highest levels of the >> john: sarah, we're looking at one person killed, another injured, and cars covered in bullet holes. police are investigating three reported shootings in boston, including one that proved to be deadly according to the "globe." all three happened last night. third on rockland street. the "globe" says a man was killed in the shooting on downer street around 8:00. the victim was taken to boston medical center but later died. investigators have not made an arrest in this case. according to the "globe," police say this was the 24th deadly shooting in boston this year. of course, all of these shootings are developing stories, and, of course, when we get more information, we'll make sure to bring them right to you. for now, we're live outside boston police headquarters, john cuoco, 7news "today in new england." >> nancy: john, thank you. now to a child tragedy in brockton. a two-year-old boy hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a car. 7's nicole oliverio is live with more. nicole? >> nicole: well, the family obviously too distraught to speak on camera. last night they said that boy was rushed to a boston hospital. as i step out of the way, you can see all that remains of the scene here is the crime scene tape that's tied around a market street in brockton shut down after police say a two-year-old boy was hit by a car and badly hurt. friends of the family say the boy's parents rushed to his side hysterical. >> i went over there and saw the baby inside the ambulance. i saw him moving. i don't know if they were moving him or not. i was so shaky. >> nicole: the toddler was eventually taken by helicopter to boston. >> i don't know. i just know he's not doing too good. he's in boston right now. and i pray that everything comes good. i hope they catch the person and do not let him out until that baby survives. >> nicole: the car that allegedly hit the boy, this toyota. police say the driver stayed at the scene. accident reconstruction crews trying to figure out what happened. neighbors say in general this is a busy street and people who live there always keep an eye out when children are playing. >> everybody knows everybody here. people keep an eye on them. there and the kids just ran. this is the first time. >> nicole: sadly the boy lives only a few houses away from where he was hit by that car. hits parents remain by his bedside at the hospital. so far no update on the boy's condition. that's the latest live in brockton, nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: now to a story you'll see on just one station, a prominent north shore plastic surgeon arrested. he's accused of possessing crack cocaine. 7's victoria warren live in lynn with the details. >> victoria: dr. sheldon sevinor, very well-known, who has been on tv programs like "the view" and other national program, he was once recognized as boston's best plastic surgeon. other the weekend police here in lynn arrested him, saying they caught him possessing crack cocaine. he is a well-known, internationally recognized plastic surgeon, but police say dr. sheldon sevinor was in possession of crack cocaine in lynn sunday. i'm pretty shocked. i would have no idea. >> victoria: according to the police report, a lynn detective who was watching a suspected drug dealer says he and another officer believed they witnessed dr. sevinor buying crack. the detective goes on to say when the officers approached the plastic surgeon's car, sevinor made a throwing motion toward the ground and we both observed several twists of suspected narcotics fall out of s dr. sevinor has a private practice inside the medical building at north shore medical center union hospital in lynn. union hospital is also where he performs surgery. dr. sevinor has been on the nsnc medical staff for 39 years. nsnc released this statement. "we are very concerned about these allegations and have accepted dr. sevinor's immediate retirement from our medical staff. additionally, we have no record of any prior issues of this the doctor's attorney released this statement, "dr. sevinor has been a respected surgeon for 40 years. he has never been accused of any type of inappropriate behavior. that said, i respectfully decline the make any additional comment. we're in the process of reviewing the allegations and will respond at the appropriate time." the doctor's attorney was in lynn district court yesterday to set an arraignment terrorism charges. federal prosecutors say ahmad khan rahami bought bomb-making equipment online. investigators say he also wrote about planning the attacks in a journal. one entry said he hoped the sound of the bombs would be heard in the streets. officials say rahami's father federal investigators say neighbors heard rahami's father calling his son a terrorist. he told the f.b.i. that rahami clouds down into southeastern mass. but that will lift. the clouds break apart and most of us enjoy mostly sunny skies look at the dew points to the north and west of us. that's the lowest humidity that's going to be working on in. so we do enjoy dew points into the 40s and lower 50s over the next couple afternoons. a little bit of a bump up on friday, and then as the cool air pours in over the weekend, the humidity goes crashing down as well. taking a look back into the midwest, low to mid-80s from detroit to pittsburgh this afternoon. that's summer stance. that's going to be working in here for a couple of days before it finally gives in byhe late in the day on friday evening, i think we're going to start the feel the change as the cold front slides on in with some scattered hours after a deadly police-involved shooting. the protests throughout this city. and protesters also shut down parts of highway and damaged vehicles. protests started after an officer shot and killed a black man. police were searching for another individual when they spotted the man when the gun. it was an african american officer who shot that black man. boston police investigating three separate shootings, one of them deadly. investigationers have not made an arrest in this case. also a two-year-old boy in the hospital after being hit by a car in brockton. it happened on market street. he was murdered mit police officer sean collier are calling for an official day to honor first responders. the tsarnaev brothers shot and killed collier in the days following the marathon bombings. according to the "herald," collier's brother andrew will head to washington next week to promote a bill that could lead to the creation of national first responders day. a facebookwoods casino in police shoot a suspected. police say they were trying to arrest man in a parking lot when he pulled out a gun. investigators say officers then shot the suspect causing him to fall several floors to his death. the order to unseal records about the victim's past sexual history. lizzi marriott was killed in 2012. the controversial ord her murderer appeals his conviction. this court order is in direct opposition to the rape shield law that protects a victim's privacy. also boston police officers cracking down on drag racing in southie. officers say they worked to catch people participating in a a -- in illegal drag racing in the new market square area of south boston. police issued about 75 citations and 35 criminal complaints in the three-day investigation. these two dogs. they say the dogs were hours. >> sarah: they're already angry over this deadly police shooting. 7's jennifer eagan following breaking details. >> jennifer: sarah, 12 officers have been injured in the protests, including one officer who was hit in the face with a rock. protesters took to the streets after police fatally shot a after serving a warrant for someone else on tuesday. officers were dressed in tactical gear and appeared to release tear gas as they attempted to disperse the crowd. people kicked in a cruiser's windows. they looted tractor-trailers and started a fire on the highway. this began after man was shot on tuesday. investigators say officers were looking for a different person at an apartment complex when they say a black officer shot saw the man get out of a car with a gun and deemed him a threat fur some reason. the officer who shot the man has been placed on administrative leave. in the newsroom, jennifer eagan, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: breaking overnight in boston, a violent night. three separate shootings keeping police very busy, at least one of them deadly. >> nancy: john cuoco is live at boston police headquarters with more. good morning to you, john. >> john: nancy, we're potentially looking at one person killed, one injured and police are investigating three reported shootings here in boston, including one that proved to be deadly according to the "boston globe." all three happened last night. one took place on donner avenue, another on dudley street and third on rockland street. the "globe" says man was killed in a shooting on downer street around 8:00. the victim was taken to boston medical center, but he later died. investigators have not made an arrest in this case. according to the "globe," police say this was the 24th deadly developing. when we get more information, we'll bring it right to you. live outside boston police headquarters, john cuoco, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: now to a child tragedy in brkton, a two-year-old boy is hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a car. 7's nicole oliverio is live now with more. nicole? >> nicole: sarah, family friends tell us that that boy was in critical condition. we don't have an update from police, but this all happening a few houses away from where the bo you can see the police tape is all that remains from this investigation. this happening on market street just around 7:00 last night. witnesses say they haired a thud. that two-year-old boy was hit by a car. his family nearby running to be by his side. neighbors say that the mother actually collapsed when she saw her son. he was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital and then later taken by a medical helicopter to a boston hospital. now, police did say that the driver remained on the scene. been charged. they believe that this is just a horrible accident, but it does remain under investigation. that's the latest live in brockton, nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." >> sarah: nicole, thank you. now to a story you'll see on just one station. >> nancy: a prominent north shore plastic surgeon arresting. he's accused of possessing crack cocaine. 7's victoria warren is live in lynn with details. >> victoria: good morning. dr. sheldon sevinor is well-known. he's been on "the view" and other national tv programs. plastic surgeon. but now over the weekend lynn police arrested him and accused him of being in possession of crack cocaine. he is a well-known, internationally recognized plastic surgeon. but police say dr. sheldon sevinor was in possession of >> he's a very powerful person in this town. i'm pretty shocked. i would have no idea. >> victoria: according to the police report, a lynn detective who was watching a suspected drug dealer says he and another officer believed they witnessed dr. sevinor buying crack. the detective goes on to say when the officers approached the plastic surgeon's car, sevinor made a throwing motion toward the ground and we both observed several twists of suspected narcotics fall out of sevinor's hand. dr. sevinor has a private practice inside the medical building at north shore medical center union hospital in lynn. union hospital is also where he performs surgery. dr. sevinor has been on the nsmc medical staff for 39 years. nsmc released this statement: "we are very concerned about these allegations and have accepted dr. sevinor's immediate retirement from our medical staff. additionally, we have no record of any prior issues of this nature with dr. sevinor." the doctor's attorney released this statement: "dr. sevinor has that said, i respectfully decline the make any additional comment. we're in the process of reviewing the allegations and will respond at the appropriate time." the doctor's attorney setting off bombs in both states is facing federal terrorism charges. federal prosecutors say ahmad khan rahami bought bomb-making equipment online. investigators say he also wrote about planning the attacks in a journal. one entry said he hoped the sound of the bombs would be heard in the streets.
