[explosion] an explosion as a bomb squad t that appeared to condition and the bombs near a transit station. Also breaking, f. B. I. Agents are now questioning five people in connection with saturdays explosion in manhattan after a traffic stop. Sarah right now investigators are trying to determine if these incidents are connected. Jennifer eagan is here with more. Jennifer sarah, five people, as you mention, were in that car that was pulled over. The New York Times is reporting an official told them those five people may be from the same family and may have been heading to the airport. An explosive discovery in new jersey. A backpack filled with bombs found at a transit station in elizabeth. [explosion] one of the devices exploding as a robot worked to neutralize the threat. Authorities say two men found the backpack in a trash can near that train station and a pub. When they looked inside, they found wires and pipe bombs so they called police. If that pub was crowded and there was a lot of people maimed or killed many, many people. Jennifer the mayor does not know if elizabeth was the target. The person who put the bombs in the trash may have been trying to get rid of it. The people doing this, they have no value on human life, and its really difficult to understand their rationale. Jennifer the explosion prompting authorities to suspend Amtrak Service in elizabeth and concerned that an active terrorism cell could be at work in the new York New Jersey area. Authorities stopped a vehicle of interest in saturdays new york blast just before 9 00 sunday night near the verrazano bridge. Right now five people are being questioned by the f. B. I. And in manhattan, Surveillance Video shows this same man at two new york locations, one where a bomb went off and another where a suspicious device was found. 29 people were injured in the explosion in chelsea saturday night. A bomb set off b ran outside and saw glass, people screaming and chaos outside. Jennifer authorities found another device that appeared to be a Pressure Cooker with wiring and a cell phone taped to the side. A bomb exploding in new york is obviously an act of terrorism, but it is noted to international terrorism. In other words, we find no isis connection, et cetera. Jennifer a few hours before that, another explosion mentioned a moment ago, no International Terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the incidents in new york and new jersey. There is an increased Police Presence across new york city today, including additional state troopers and members of the national guard. Then a second device found made from wires and a Pressure Cooker. Its all very familiar. Victoria the similarities hauntingly reminiscent of the 2015. You have improvised explosives. The discussion seems to be about Pressure Cookers. It brings back a lot of vivid memories of the Boston Marathon. I can tell you theyre doing the same things we did following the marathon. Theyre looking at all the evidence. Victoria the former head of the state police and the former Boston Police commissioner say new york city investigators have a Monumental Task ahead of them and a massive crime scene, especially given the nature of how Pressure Cooker bombs explode. Theyll be piece of evidence they can locate on the streets. We found it in boston on buildingtops, you know, on adjacent streetways. Victoria one big difference in new york, they have a bomb that didnt go off, and that could hold vital clues, and just like in boston, surveillance cameras are everywhere. The biggest clue came from video. Frankly, it is the most important piece, this digital evidence that we can access now, is the single most important victoria obvious similarities, but thankfully also some major differences. A man attacked nine people with a knife at that the f. B. I. Has been searching the suspects apartment to verify that claim made by isis in a statement. Police say during the attack, the suspect asked victims if they were muslim. He was eventually shot and killed by an offduty officer. For some of us torrential rain across parts of New Hampshire and central and western mass so far this morning. 72 degrees in boston. You know we have the warmth. We have the humidity, as well work dew points running close to 70 degrees. So its a muggy air mass in place. Plenty of moisture to work with. Were just ringing out some downpours north and west of 4 the wind is out of the south. That stays with us. Flood advisory in effect west of nashua, New Hampshire, stretching back into the Southwest Corner of New Hampshire and into portions of northwestern mass out near athol, orange and as well as greenfield. This is where the bulk of the heavy rain has been. Locally one to two inches of rain. Yes, very beneficial for parts of manchester, New Hampshire, cob concord, New Hampshire, back into ashburnham. Per hour rain amounts dropping out of these showers and storms rolling on in. That goes all the way down to the mass pike just to the east of springfield right now. Take a look at the wind speeds. Once in a while you see some of these brighter greens showing up. So embedded in some of these thunderstorms rolling on through have been some gusts about 30 to 40mph. Not overpowering, but a few of these storms with gusty winds. Follow the line of the showers and storms. This batch right here, a lot of that is going to go north and west of boston. But i am optimistic that down into southeastern mass well have a chance to get some scattered downpours in here throughout the day as we have a long trail of moisture that has to work on in. So the downpours, showers and thunderstorms will be scattered about throughout the day. And thunderstorms, locally heavy rain. Sometimes its too much of a good thing when you have a lot of water vapor in the atmosphere. You can really ring out torrential rains. That gives you a quick inch or two of rain. Today, tonight and tomorrow. Still some leftover scattered showers and storms out there tomorrow morning. Then we really begin to dry it out as we get into tomorrow afternoon, especially away from the coastline. I think by the afternoon well see partly sunny skies.
