These two train right here stop because they cannot continue on to south station because of this signal problem. We have got pretty much an empty scene at south station right now. It should be filled with passengers at this hour. But nobody is arriving at south station. Because of this signal problem with amtrak essentially on the commuter line trains and passengers having to divert to other stations. Its been suggested that they get off at forest hills. We got some pictures that one passenger shared with us. He estimates that thousands of people were literally waiting on platforms to transfer from destination. He thinks he will get there much quicker than that. Sky 7 above the commuter train just hitting on the tracks as amtrak is working on this signal problem. Hoping to get service restored. A short time ago we spoke with frank depala from the department of transportation. We asked him what they are suggesting passengers should do. If they take if they have to or are taking the Commuter Rail i ask for their patience. Because they will have to transfer at outer lying point. And use the Transit Service for the rest of their trip in. If they have a choice and they can go either directly to transit or some other mode such as bus, i would request that they choose another mode for today. If youre a commuter and riding the franklin or fair month line those are still getting in. Are being diverted because of this signal problem that amtrak continues to work on. Add to that there was a disabled red line train earlier this morning causing severe delays on the red line. The t tells us that problem has been revolved. Because they were hoping to get the signal trouble was causing diverted. We have video from south station which typically in the morning rush hour would be pack with folk getting off of strain. It was much emptier than usual. The only people there were folk waiting to get on train. But just werent leaving. All of this because of the signal problem on amtrak that started just after 5 00 a. M. It had the crazy domino effect as commuter line train were diverted. We have pictures from some passengers showing an absolute crush of passenger trying to get on orange line after they got off of commuter line trains. One man estimated that maybe as many as more than 1,000 people trying to wait on these platforms to get on the orange line trains. He chose to walk. He felt he would get to work much faster than trying to transfer over to orange line. We have sky 7 video. It shows you the commuter line train. They cant go further. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Crews brought a crane in to get that truck out. The man accused of a murder outside a randoph bar is now waking up in jail. Gregory wright accused of shooting and the killing the victim after he left the bar. Theres no explanation for the prosecutors say the two men did not interact at the bar. Prosecutors say the victim was performing in an open mic night before he was killed. Police were nearby when they heard the shot and arrested wright across the street from the bar. 7news now pointing to mbta they say they will now more closely inspect the bolts and rivots that hold the bolts together on their train. This comes after metal panel fell off orange line train hitting the third rail causing the train to smoke. Passengers broke through windows to escape.
