Sarah now to some breaking news this morning. Fire crews busy at work overnight in worcester after several fires break out. Kris their work there is being made much more difficult because of the freezing temperatures that weve been dealing with the past few days. Nicole, the cold is not just dangerous for crew, but also their equipment. Its freezing up, as well. Nicole it is, kris. Really firefighters say that was the only issue fighting this fire this morning was just with battling these cold temps. As soon as the water hit those homes trying to put out the flame, it was immediately icing over, causing concern for crews who were trying to get that fire out. Now, this happening on crescent street overnight in worcester. You can see just the intense flames burning from this tripledecker. Now, the good news is two of the three apartments here were vacant. One person living on the third floor managed to get out safely, so no injuries to report. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. But as we have been talking about, its these cold temps that are really causing problems for firefighters. As soon as the water hits, its freezing everything over in this neighborhood. Crews from more than a dozen nearby cities and towns had to be called in to help out. First fire broke out on rain bow lane followed by the second on commercial street just about an her later. In both cases the fire chief says people were trying the warm frozen pipes and thats when the fire started. The third fire over on arnold road is still being investigated. There was frozen equipment over at Logan Airport, and there were problems along the tracks along the t. Temperatures below zero were tough to handle. Mbta workers lit a section of track along the orange line on fire with kerosene. The unusual measure taken because of the extreme cold. The heat helped straighten out the track. The t ran some trains overnight to help prevent tracks and switches from freezing. Temperatures hovering around zero also caused problems at Logan Airport. Headed to d. C. For a business trip, and i was supposed to be on the 5 15, and last i checked it was delayed until 7 06. Jennifer massport anticipated problems yesterday, especially with equip on the ground. A jetblue spokesperson told 7news fueling operations were impacted because of dangerously low temperatures. It caused hourslong delays for some passengers. This video from a viewer shows rescuers lowering one person to the ground. 48 passengers on board two cars became trapped after the braking system became stuck. Thankfully no one was hurt. Officers say the pedestrian who was hit was transported to brigham and womens last night. The persons condition not known and the accident remains under investigation. Sarah developing this morning, former new york governor Eliot Spitzer is under investigation for allegedly choking a woman inside a hotel room in manhattan, but hes denying the assault claim. Spitzer and the 25yearold woman had a romantic relationship for two years. Spitzers spokesperson says there is no truth to the allegation and is far in charges have been filed. The woman was treated and released from the hospital. Spitzer resigned as governor of new york in 2008 over a prostitution scandal.
