under investigation. >> christa: a new mother and father who survived this dramatic rollover crash are birth of their healthy baby boy. just hours after the crash, doctors decided to go ahead and street in manchester sending one car on the sidewalk and into a utility pole, sheering the pole in half while the car flipped on to its roof. britney, 7 months pregnant, trapped inside. her husband thrown from the car. >> johnnytwo cars were racing and one tried to wedge between the cars. it sent the saab on to the sidewalk. >> there was a as a in the left lane, a minivan in the right and a car between them. the car wanted to go by the saab, clipped the car, flipped, went through the fence. >> the baby boy, due on christmas, was delivered by c-section. grandpa says after seeing this video, expect at the hearing. >> reporter: the big question today is the teenager, philip chism, mentally competent to continue his murder trial. last month the trial against philip chism was abruptly halted when the judge ordered chism evaluation. the defense attorney said he was making alarming remarks and was seen on the cell floor banging his head into the floor. prosecutors claimed chism was manipulating the court. he's on trial for the rape and murder of colleen ritzer, his math teacher in 2013 at danvers high school. her body was found in the woods. its unknown if the judge will have a full hearing or just come out and make an order, make some sort of decision on how this trial should proceed. all of the potential jurors, they have been on hold now for about two weeks. live this morning in salem, victoria warren, "7 news today in new england." >> christa: the department of children and families joining the investigation into the death of an infant in sandwich. police say the one-month-old was found unresponsive at a home there yesterday morning. but there were no obvious signs of trauma or injury. the office of the medical examiner will try to figure out the cause of the infant's death. a deadly ending to yesterday morning's police standoff in canton. the man who barricaded himself in a home died. police say that he stabbed his brother then threatened officers. a s.w.a.t. team moved in, closed down the area, got into the house but the man already injured himself. officials in illinois are expected to announce the officer whose death sparked a manhunt in september killed himself. lieutenant gliniewicz reported he was chasing three men. they announced he was shot with his own weapon. >> jadiann: happening today, an 18-month-old fall river girl is in the hospital after nearly having her ear ripped off after she was attacked by a dog. kris anderson joins us with more. we're told that that dog is now at animal control. >> reporter: they're keeping an eye on the dog. he injured the 18-month-old girl tuesday. one woman show saw the incident says the child is expected to recover. that's the good news. the bad news is she may have permanent damage. it happened in an apartment in fall river. sabrina hague saw the dog bite the child. her boyfriend pulled the dog witnesses say it was absolutely terrifying. >> a good seven minutes that dog had the baby in his mouth. ear was pretty much like severed. it was awful. like pretty much severed. you could see the skull on the back of the head. >> reporter: the child is being treated at hasbro top five. republican presidential candidate donald trump and democrat sean o'malley will be in new hampshire to file papers for the primary. the state's filing period kicks off today. several other candidates are expected to file this week. the date of the 2016 primary has yet to be announced. jeb bush will kick off day two of his jeb can fix it tour in new hampshire. he has a busy day with early. and you saw some of the video there, pretty scary to see that. we'll show you again. the whole thing caught on camera. three cars were driving down a two-lane street in manchester. this happened tuesday. it sent one car on to the sidewalk straight into a utility pole, sheering the pole in half. the car flipped on to its review. brittney beaudoin, 7 months pregnant, was trapped inside. her husband thrown from the car. both were taken to the hospital with serious injures. beaudoin told her father there were two cars racing at the time of the accident. we learned that a 24-year-old male driver was involved in the other car, involved in this accident. no charges have been filed as of this point but police tell me the investigation is ongoing. anyone with information worcester on sunday night. this is the surveillance video of it. it shows a group of men entering the store wearing masks. after one of the men threatens the clerk with a knife, the robbers steal cash and cigarettes and make a get away. a family in lowell are living in fear after receiving threats about the kkk. a nationwide list was posted on line revealing those who are allegedly associated with the kkk. the family run kk insurance agency in lowell was mistakenly on the list. and it has been the target of nonstop harassing phone calls. >> if you are a member of kkk, no way. i said no, we're not. i don't even know what is it. >> the owner says that he's worried that someone will vandalize his business because of this. >> jadiann: police in new haven, connecticut, teaching drivers a tough lesson about locking doors. officers will check cars for visible values and if the door isn't locked they'll take it and leave a note. the items can be picked up at the police station. they hope it cuts down on the number of burglaries but a civil rights attorney says it's against search warrant federal laws. >> they're stealing people's property. they have no right to enter their car because the car, just the fact it's not locked doesn't property. >> jadiann: the city says there's a caretaker provision in the state law that allows them to do this. >> christa: a prison guard facing a felony charge in connection with with a prison gene palmer will be arraigned this afternoon. he turned down a plea agreement in june and waved a hearing in favor of having his case heard by a grand jury. he helped richard matt and david sweat escape from prison in june. matt was killed by border patrol agents. sweat was captured two days after that in september. another prison employee was sentenced to seven years in prison for helping the men. >> jadiann: scientists believe they're closing in on the source of the e. coli outbreak linked to dozens of illnesses at which which chipotle locations in washington, washington state and oregon. it's been identified and may have been carried on produce or spices. the restaurant closed 43 locations. more than three dozen people have become sick. the ntsb says an issue with the fuel supply may have cost a plane to burst into flames at fort lauderdale hollywood international airport. the main fuel line was disconnected from the engine and may have sparked the fire as the flight prepared for takeoff. nearly two dozen people were hurt when evacuating the plane. the damaged runway is expected to reopen today. >> christa: checking news from across the country this morning, the former c.e.o. of wal-mart and two other people will be okay after their plane made a crash landing in arkansas. bill simon was flying the plane when it crashed in fayetteville. video shows the plane descending as the emergency parachute deployed to slow the landing. simon and his two passengers suffered minor injuries. investigators say the plane had a severe loss of oil pressure which forced simon to make the emergency landing. >> we heard a big clap like something just fell. we looked up and there was a parachute. >> we were so shocked. we who breast fed are 20% less likely to develop hormone receptor negative breast cancer. it accounts for 20% of breast cancer cases in the u.s. going green may make you smarter according to a study on least two, including a crew member and a child. the plane crashed on the banks of the denial river shortly after -- nile river shortly after taking off. new clues in the crash of a russian passenger plane over egypt. a news agency reports no traces of explosive residue were found on the bodies of the victims. if true that may support the theory the plane crashed from a mechanical failure rather than a bomb. >> jadiann: the department of children and families is joining the investigation into the death of an infant in sandwich. police say the one-month-old was found unresponsive at a home yesterday morning. there were no obvious signs of trauma or injury. the office of the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death. >> christa: ables officials in illinois are expected to announce the officer whose death sparked a manhunt in september killed himself. was found dead september 1st after reporting he was chasing three suspicious men. last month investigators announced gliniewicz was shot with his own weapon. also, called to court. the teen charged with killing his teacher in danvers high school made his first appearance in a courtroom since the trial was put on hold. let's go to victoria warren outside the courthouse. >> reporter: the big question today is whether or not 16-year-old philip chism is mentally competent to continue his murder trial. last month his trial was put on hold when the judge ordered chism committed for a mental health evaluation. it was right in the middle of juror selection and the defense attorney said he was making alarming remarks and seen lying on his cell floor repeatedly banging his head into the floor. prosecutors claimed chism was just trying to manipulate the court. chism is on trial for the rape and murder of colleen ritzer, his math teacher, in 2013 at danvers high school. her body was found in the woods behind the school. it's unknown if the judge will issue some type of ruling, if they'll have a full hearing. all of the people called for jury duty, all those potential jurors, they've been on hold for about two weeks. live this morning in salem, victoria warren, "7 news today in new england." >> jadiann: a toddler from fall river is waking up in the a dog. a woman says she saw the dog nearly bite the 18-month-old girl's ear off in an apartment tuesday. the woman's boyfriend managed to get the caused severe problems for the mbta and commuter rail. now a danvers driver who -- she got the ticket in the mail and -- that said she didn't pay a toll but the car they cited wasn't hers. but even menu so we weren't having a lot of luck. i decided i would just appeal. >> phyllis filed the appeal and about a week later received a letter in the mail. her appeal was rejected. phyllis made a few more calls but got nowhere so she reluctantly decided to pay the ticket. >> you feel so helpless because you can't solve the problem other than paying the fine. >> just before dropping the check in the mail, phyllis remembered solve it 7. >> i watch channel 7 all the time and enjoy this segment so i thought why not give it a shot. >> we contacted the department of transportation and told them the trouble phyllis was having. a few days later we got this response. after investigating the details of this situation, massdot was able to determine that this violation was issued in error and has yesterday morning's police standoff in canton we were reporting about. the man who barricaded himself in a home died. he stabbed his brother and threatened officers. a s.w.a.t. team moved in and closed down the area. they got into the house but say the man had already injured himself by then. >> jadiann: part of the mystery of a random grave stone found outside a condo complex in wins has been solved. the name carlton knight jr. was etched on the headstone but misspelled. the headstone maker made a new one and that person is buried in duxbury. >> christa: a lowell family says they're living in fear after receiving threats about the kkk. a nationwide list was posted on line revealing those who are allegedly associated with the kkk. the family run kk insurance agency up in lowell flames. this has happened just before midnight on middlesex and baldwin. the house was empty at the time and no one was hurt. the cause of the fire is under investigation. >> christa: also this morning, an emergency delivery for a pregnant woman involved in this intense rollover wreck. that video is breathtaking, in manchester, new hampshire. this new mom had to undergo an emergency c-section last night. >> jadiann: nick emmons is live for us in new hampshire with how this mom and that baby is doing today. >> reporter: that's right. thankfully it sounds like they're okay. all things considered. the couple in that car that flipped over lucky to be alive as they welcome a new baby boy into the world. and this wreck, as you saw, pretty extreme to see on camera. it was three cars driving down a two-lane street in manchester on tuesday. one of those cars went on the sidewalk, straight through a utility pole, sheering the pole in half then it flipped on to its roof. brittney beaudoin, 7 months pregnant, was trapped inside, her husband, dennis, was ejected. both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. >> there was a saab in the left lane, a minivan in the right lane and the car between them saab, clipped the car, flipped, went through a fence. >> oh, we're just thanking the stars that all three survived. all three survived. >> reporter: so as of right now, police say a 24-year-old man from manchester was involved in that other car that collided with the car that flipped over on the sidewalk. no charges have been filed as of now but police tell me the investigation is ongoing. live in manchester, new hampshire, nick emmons, "7 news today in new england." >> christa: right now we're tracking breaking news out of south sudan. that is where a russian made cargo plane crashed killing at least 25 people onboard. a spokeswoman says there are at least two survivors, including a crew member and a child. the plane crashed on the banks of the nile river shortly after taking off. one witness said the plane looked like it was going to hit a busy marketplace but the pilot diverted at the last second. it's unclear what caused it to come down. with you new clues in the crash of a russian passenger plane over egypt. a news agency reports no traces of explosive residue were found on the bodies of the victims. if that's true that supports the theory the plane crashed from a mechanical failure rather than a bomb. >> jadiann: now to voice your choice, a shakeup in boston's city council. kris anderson joins us with a look at the were only four seats available. anissa essaibi-george pushed out murphy. newsroom,. >> christa: the department of children and families joining the investigation into the death of an infant in sandwich. the one-month-old was found under responsive at a home yesterday morning. there were no obvious signs of trauma or injury. the office of the medical examiner will determine the infant's exact cause of death. also on just one station this morning, just one station is there an angry parents in pembroke crowd a school committee meeting. let's go to nicole oliverio for us. sounds like they're concerned about a student accused of threatening to shoot up the school here? >> reporter: these parents say the school and the district isn't doing enough to protect the children who were threatened. this threat happened in late -- or just last week. parents last night at the school committee meeting let members know how they felt. >> my son was threatened. you're going to sit there and tell me that there's no threat? are you kidding me? it's insane. we're all sitting here thinking the same thing. one child is being protected. all of ours are inconvenienced. it's maddening. >> first appearance in a courtroom since his trial was put on hold. victoria warren is live outside the courthouse with what is expected today. >> reporter: good morning, jadiann. the big question today is whether or not 16-year-old philip chism is mentally competent to continue his murder trial. last month the trial against the teen was abruptly halted when a judge ordered chism committed for a mental health evaluation. it was right in the middle of juror selection and chism's defense attorney said he was making alarming remarks and he was seen on the cell floor banging his head into the floor. prosecutors say chism is trying to manipulate the court. chism is on trial for the rape and murder of colleen ritzer, his math teacher in 2013. her body was found in the woods behind the school. it's unknown if the judge will issue a ruling or have another hearing. all the people called for jury duty have been on hold for about two weeks. live this morning in salem, victoria warren, "7 news today in new england." >> christa: now the race for the white house. a new poll shows the race for the republican nomination in new hampshire's tightening and one candidate is making a big movie. donald trump holds the lead in the survey but it's two points over ben carson. meantime, marco rubio has jumped from 2% support in september to 11% now. john kasich and chris cristie round out the top five. >> jadiann: former boy band member nick lachey doesn't agree with ohio voters to rejected the legalization of marijuana. he tweeted support of the process and says change takes time. the cincinnati native stood to make possibly millions of dollars because he co-owns one of the state regulated pot farms. >> christa: the former c.e.o. of wal-mart and two others are expected to be okay after their plane made a crash landing. the plane's parachute floated with the aircraft over fayetteville and landed on the highway. bill simon and two passengers suffered minor injuries. the plane
