>> we have some showers to deal with and to kick off the weekend and once again minor coastal flooding tomorrow during the afternoon 3:00 to 6:00 pm coastal flood advicely like this afternoon and yesterday with the high tides. also have a wind advisory through 11:00 in the morning back through southern bristol and plymouth county for gusty winds. 35-45 miles an hour at times and they're gusty out there now. temperatures only near 50 degrees so it's a cool raw evening and we do have more batches of rain that will continue to work in overnight. not talking about tremendous amounts of rain and downpours, we'll have scattered showers around. does taper off to some patchy drizzle forked afternoon. so interest may be some dry periods in there. what else are we tracking? joaquin beginning to pull itself away from the bahamas, it picked up forward speed. the movement is now off to the neat at 10 miles an hour. so it's beginning to pull itself away from the bahamas and you look at this shocked this happened. >> as investigate iuncover new clues. >> taking a live look at the white house tonight. the president has ordered flags to fly at half-staff to honor the nine men and women who lost their lives in oregon. tonight we are leashing more about those -- learning more about the victims as the sheriff releases their names and family begin to tell their story. we have more. >> reporter: we know the gunman was enrolled in the class where the shootings occur and we're hearing from survivors who were in the classroom when the shooting started. >> long gun. >> reporter: the shoots started to ring out at 10:38 a.m.followed by nine long minutes of terror. >> i was terrified. i didn't know if i was going to be alive. >> reporter: it happened thursday morning on the umpqua community college campus. it started in a writing class that chris harper mercer was enrolled in when he started shooting. >> i'm very lucky, there are some people that didn't make it out. >> reporter: armed with six guns and a rifle he had body armor and extra ammunition, during a search of the apartment they found seven more guns all purchased legally. >> we never completely determine what the motive was but we're certainly going to look every where. >> reporter: while students ran to police officers, confronted the shooter who was' killed in the gun fire. law enforcement officials say the gunman wrote a hate-filled document that hell. >> reporter: tonight the released, nine innocent victims, jason johnson was 34. >> i wish that i would have said, don't know "if i know what i know now. >> reporter: nine others were seer husbandly hurt includes chris mince shot several times trying to shield others. the shooter shoot him again. he survived but doctors say he will have to learn to walk again. >> he walk aid way with his life. that is more than some of the other people did. >> reporter: the nine killed range from 18-67. the youngest a freshman. the oldest a professor. brandon gunnoe, 7 news night team. >> tonight the brother of one of the victims is telling his sister's tale of bravery. she came face-to-face with the shooter and survived. >> i don't know how to explain the sound of someone's voice when they think they're going to die. >> reporter: corey was trying to reach his sister from his classroom 500 yards away. when he got through on a cell phone it was terrifying. >> she was' balling her eyes out. she said i've been shot. >> reporter: she was shot in the back and corey remembers every flightenning moment. >> she said god was telling her stay calm, stay still, don't do anything revenues and that message saved anna's life when she played dead. >> the calm it took to not lose it in a situation like that, she is so brave. she is so strong and courageous and she did exactly what she had to do. i don't know how many people could have done that. i don't know if could i have done that. >> reporter: the bullet to her sister's brain narrowly missed critical nerves in her lungs. >> the first thing my sister did when a surgeon came in, she said i want one thing from you. i want the bullet from my gunshot wound. she started laughing, she is heroes. >> hanscom air base is in mourning because two of the aches airmen killed in the crash in afghanistan tee moyed moyed from hanscom. elizabeth norieka has more about what we've learned about the fallen heroes. >> reporter: very hard day here at the base for the peoples who are living here and today was about remembering the lives lost and also being there for one another. flags lowered to half-staff at hanscom air force pace to honor the victims of a military plane crash in afghanistan including two airmen who deployed from hanscom. >> they were' incredible airmen who lost their lives protecting this great nation. >> reporter: they're members of the 66 security forces squadron. their mission to assist with security admissions around the globe. the 130 members of the skowran at hanscom are being offered counselling. >> this a devastating day for the united states air force and for hanscom. our hearts are heavy with sorrow as we grieve with and for the families of these brave areamen. >> reporter: the plane the airmen were in looked like this one. witnesses at jalalabad heard a strange sound coming from the plane before it crashed. they're trying to figure out what caused it: we're expected to learn the napes of those -- names of those victims sometime tomorrow. elizabeth norieka, 7 news night team. >> the night team turning to an emotional vigil after a toddler tragedy. family and friends remembering 2-year-old gigi brown. she died earlier this week. her mother is fighting to get custody of her other two children. the night team's kimberly bookman live in worcester with emotional madges from tonight's vigil. >> reporter: look at what is left of the vigil. it's a memorial to a little girl who once lived here. >> she was a beautiful little angel and now heaven has another. >> reporter: dressed in purple wearing a tee shirt with the 2 yearsade pictures on it dozens gathered at the doorstep of the apartment where the toddler was found not breathing and later died. >> everybody is a wreck. emotionally distraught. >> reporter: they're hear to grieve a loss they say doesn't make anience. >> we don't understand what happened. like they said there was no signs of trauma, no signs of anything like that so we want to know why, what happened? >> reporter: in the crowd the little girl's mom. she was in a closed door to regain custody from d.c.f.of her other small children. the family says they were' taken by the state following gigi's death. >> it's totally wrong, nothing, they didn't do nothing. that is totally wrong. those kids need to be with their mother. >> reporter: the family says until this investigation is over they'd like the other children to be with loved ones. it's. >> it's hard, they need to be with us to grieve with us and not be sprited. >> reporter: the family is waiting for autopsy results. in the meantime they started a go fund me payment in order to get money for funeral arrangements. kimberly bookman,news. >> a tool football controversy in swampscott. the latest as the school district decided the team will for fit its games. self of the team's younger yard line doing naked with upper classmen. they say students involved could face further punishment. >> text messages of hate landing lowell students in a lot of trouble. the texts are racists as the students targeted a classmate bus he is black. susan tran is live in lowell with what the response is. >> reporter: what the messages were made public the students were suspended. tonight they ahong with their parents met with the victim and his parents. this entire incident is shocking for those here at lowell high school who say it's diverse and they have elected other minority students before. anya didn't have time to celebrate after winning his presidential election at lowell high school. >> i was disappointed. sand heart broken. >> reporter: he learned a half dozen of his classmates were charged with racism. there was a petition to impeach hundred and one class mate who wrote about limping. >> did you really say that you were going to lynch me. i said that is not a joking word. >> reporter: the school suspended six students and one was a candidate who lost. the other candidate who said he wanted to win but anya will be a great president and says -- >> anye is a nice kid. he didn't deserve this. it was disappointing and surprising but i don't think it's reflective of the school as a whole. i think these problems exist anywhere. >> reporter: the police are doing their own investigation to see if criminal charges are appropriate. but for now, school and city offices say they'll use this as a teaching opportunity because lowell has a long history of welcoming diversity. >> the vial, despicable comment that have come to life inland away from the coastline we could get a few breaks of sun. i can't rule out a little bit of patchy drizzle but in terms of heavy rain we're not going to see that. different case down through the southeast. look at this channel of moisture, down to the car line ashes, there are radar estimates of chose to 10 inches of rain that has fallen. this is just beginning through south carolina, through pores of north carolina as well. this channel of moisture has that tropical connection back to hurricane joaquin. now it's indirect but it's pulling tropical moisture back into the carolinas. the direct impact from the storm unlikely here as it's moving away from the bahamas moving off to the northeast and you look at the latest track from the natural hurricane center, this is several hundred miles east of the united states. wind right now 125 miles an hour. it movement is off to the northeast at about 10 miles an hour. they'll experienced intoing rains north carolina and south carolina, we've been focusing on a high pressure to the north that created the wind gusting 35-45. we'll see that into tomorrow morning, especially for the cape and the islands. we may see a little bit splashover close to the 4:00 high tide tomorrow afternoon. coastal wind, 46-52 the low. tomorrow's high temperatures there is not much movement. upper 40s in the worcester hills, 52-54 in the city of
