tim caputo live in boston with developing details for us at 7:00. >> reporter: that video went viral almost immediately. a lot of people were quick to rush to judgment. the police investigation did just the opposite. they spent all summer long the better part of 4 months looking into this matter. they believe this officer did not use excessive force. >> why were you running? >> reporter: it didn't look pretty. an internal off duty police officer did nothing wrong who ran down a pedestrian who hit the officer's car with an umbrella. >> the video narrator says we tackled. the victim and witnesses say he tripped on his own and he fell. >> reporter: several other witnesses told a different story. >> we proved in that officer barrett had every right to run after the man. >> unfortunately it happened to his own car. i don't expect my officers to stand idly by and have their car damaged. >> no crime was committed right. it was clear no crime was committed. when the officer got out of his car and when he was returned to his car. when he walked back to the car it would have taken one co broken and didn't care. >> reporter: spent too much time looking into his client and not enough into the officer's actions. >> it was shocking to us that -- it sounded like a witch trial. >> reporter: so this internal investigation was launched by boston police. they were never asked by that alleged victim to launch the investigation. they did it on their own for the sake of transparency. and now that he has been cleared will remain the same on the police department. in roxbury tonight. tim caputo 7 news. >> anchor: state police in connecticut are investigating an officer involved shooting at fox wood's casino. kimberly bookman live in connecticut with the latest tonight and what we know about this incident. kimberly. >> reporter: here's what we know at this hour. connecticut state police say there was a suspect here at fox out for his arrest. tribal police approached that suspect. police say that suspect flashed a gun which led a tribal police officer to fire at least one shot. the suspect fell off the 4th unclear if the suspect died from a bullet or a fall to the pavement below. the officer involved was not hurt nor any other people at the casino. traffic in and out of the garage was stopped as police descended on the area. back out here live at this point we can tell you this is an active investigation. you see a police officers car behind us. they have closed traffic off to that area. we will be here all evening follow the progress and bring you more this evening. reporting live from connecticut kimberly bookman 7 news. >> tonight on 7. >> i put him in the >> shed a new light on a troubled past. >> just because you make an arrest that's not where the investigation stops. >> it's the search for clues behind the terror take down. >> anchor: breaking news in this case federal officials charged ahmad rahami with planting bombs in new york city and new jersey. bombing suspect's father raised red flags about his son in the past. terror take down investigation. begin with dan hausle live in manhattan with the latest information tonight. >> reporter: as new yorkers tried to move on. some people think there may have been a red flag from the father's call. this grew out of an incident in which rahami was arrested for stabbing his brother in the leg. a grand jury recommended no charges in the case though. the father made st the police and the fib. 24 hours after bombing suspect ahmad rahami is in a shoot out with police. rahami's father told the fbi 2 years ago his son was a terrorist. >> what happened? >> he doing bad. >> what did he do bad? >> he stabbed my son. he hit my wife. i put him in jail 2 years ago. >> reporter: rahami's father had fallen in with a bad crowd. what did you say 2 years ago? [simultaneous conversation] >> reporter: did you speak to the fbi 2 years ago. >> reporter: new york's giving a tour of the bombing site wouldn't answer my question about the father's warning to the fbi. >> did someone miss a chance to get this guy. did someone miss that? >> reporter: also brushing off questions speaking only to praise investigators who caught rahami so quickly. >> it's a testament to the level of sophistation that our law enforcement today brings to investigations like this. >> reporter: i found the councilman who handles this neighborhood more interested. does that concern snu. >> that's upsetting and shocking. >> reporter: but found no credible connection to terrorism charged with trying to kill police who caught him new yorkers clean up and worry what's coming next. >> i walk by here every day. you can find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. >> reporter: so moments ago federal charges placed against rahami in addition to the charges placed against him in relation to the shoot out with police at the time of his arrest. on those he was hospitalized and held on 5 million dollars bail. live in new york city dan hausle 7 news. >> anchor: boston police commissioner talking about the similarities between this terror investigation and that of the boston marathon bombings. 7's steve cooper continues our team coverage. boston area. >> reporter: the special agent in charge for the fbi's boston office clearing up confusion when he told me there were no notes left behind on any bombs by new york and new jersey suspect rahami referencing the boston marathon bombing. >> at this point in time there is nothing in it that i received to indicate association with the tsarnaev's. >> reporter: are working around the clock at this point to keep everyone safe. can people area feel safe or should they feel safe? >> they should. they should. we're doing everything in our power to stay in front of these threats. >> reporter: so even with the increased patrols the pressure cook her bombs in new york are churning up memories around here. >> that was 5 days of hell here in the city. both physically and mentally for everybody overnight? looks pretty out there. sure is sticky. >> reporter: in the low 70s. city at 72. bedford 73. the dew point temperatures they are in the upper 60s to around 70. there is dryer air. worcester on the hunt for an armed robber. the guy in the surveillance pictures went in the cvs and handed the pharmacist a note demanding oxycodone. >> anchor: a military flair washed up on the few years brought him piece in a life dominated by so much monday morning that peace was disturbed. getting a phone call from the cemetery telling him to someone stole a sculpture a memorial he created to honor his late sister and other children who perished in the holocost. >> i was upset. i was angry. >> reporter: the 2 bronze stars of david along with the hand that symbolize a final resting place for his sister and those her. i saw this as an entrance finally to a decent resting place for my sister and the other children who died in the holocost. >> reporter: the 81-year-old now believes that this theft had a bigger purpose. >> i realized that it had more impact by having been stolen in terms of publicity in terms of alerting people to the fact that so many people died on route 6 with temperatures in the upper 70s. thursday fall arrives. thursday morning after 10 a.m. warmer than tomorrow. temperatures on thursday heading for the mid 80s. again, should say 10:21. i
