>> we elected them to represent us and get things done >> in chicago federal employees are holding a protest at noon at federal plaza. >> a pension reform plan could be ready for illinois lawmakers to take up when they return for the fall veto session. this session is scheduled to get under way in springfield on october 22nd. a member of the panel working to come up with a way to deal with the state's unfunded pension liability says it is very likely they could agree on a plan to change state retirement benefits by the time the session begins. state rep tells the chicago tribune any plan forwarded to the legislature will probably be challenged in court >> he was heading home from work and has not been seen since. today volunteers stepped up efforts to find a missing lake villa man >> it has been more than one week since he disappeared. dozens of volunteers today conducted a grid search... trying to find any sign of the missing father >> more than 150 volunteers -- fanning out over 225 square miles, sunday. from wood dale -- to lake villa. the route nicholas steward was taking from work to home...on september 20th. it was the last day...anyone's seen or heard from him. devastating for his parents... his wife..and the couple's one year old son hopefully we'll find something today that will help us bring nick home to us. steward - who's 33 - was driving a 2008 white saturn aura. around 5:30 on that friday... relatives say his i-pass transponder and cell phone registered...at the touhy toll plaza, northbound on i-294. they say his cell phone died -- and hasn't been turned on since. his financial records show no activity... and it's unclear where he exited the highway. we don't know where he got off. that's why the grid system today takes into account wood dale to lake villa because we really don't know where he made it past the touhy avenue plaza which was the last time his i- pass pinged steward's family says they're grateful for support from the community and all of the volunteers... who donned green ribbons... searching and handing out fliers... hoping to jog a memory... or, find a clue. thats what we're looking for someone who might of seen him. we don't know. friends and family set up a facebook page hoping to generate tips in the case. anyone with information should call police >> glen ellyn police say they have found the body of a missing woman buried in a local park. the 33 year-old had been reported missing. police said they discovered the woman's remains buried in a clearing in the woods. police say there were obvious signs of trauma. they say they do not believe there is a threat to the neighbors in the area. a criminal investigation is underway >> chicago police issued a community alert today after an attempted adduction in the austin neighborhood. at about 930 friday morning the man seen in the lower left corner of your screen drove his black nissan passed a 14 year-old girl, honking his horn in calling out as she walked to a strip mall at madison and central. he then followed her into one of the stores and tried talking to her outside grabbing her arm when she tried to walk away. she broke free and he fled in his vehicle >> a rescue this afternoon at monroe harbor. a child in a stroller rolled into the water. fire officials said they pulled the child and an adult out of the lake on the south end of the harbor. the two are in good condition and i there was hospitalized. at about the same time there was a rescue of a man and his dog from the chicago sanitary and ship canal near west 28th street. they are both fine as well >> for the third time this month chicago police report someone being robbed by a man posing as a federal agent. the latest incident happened around 11:00 saturday morning. police say in each case the impostor driving a silver suv approach to victims and identified himself as agents or officer franklin. saturday's victim was a 41 year-old man. the impostor ordered him to get into his car as part of a police investigation and demanded cash before allowing him to leave unharmed >> a louisiana pastor was gunned down in the middle of a sermon. next, the accused gunman's connection to the church. also ahead, another big step for private space travel and exploration. and later, the illinois state police are set to post guidelines for what it will take to get a concealed carry permit in the state. today was beautiful... things will get interesting this week ... we will have details... break it's been a happy union. he does laundry, and i do the cleaning. there's only two of us... how much dirt can we manufacture? more than you think. very little.
