This is the last day of the special security measures and School Officials and police decided it is safe again for kids to play and parents are relieved. Im glad they did and got the police out here protecting the kids. It is a good thing. The mayor hopes the bill the renovated apartment complex and a new school would open the doors to opportunity. If we make sure there is no gap between the front door of the home and the front door of a school every children no matter where they live will succeed in their future. But some people are wondering if its worth it. its not fair for the cab drivers. It means the cab driver cannot own a medallion. in 2010 the going rate for a city of chicago taxi medallion was 256thousand dollars. This time around bids start at 360,000. 50 medallions that were returned or confiscated are going up for auction, expected to bring in more than 18 Million Dollars in revenue for the city of chicago. Elizabeth granoff, an attorney who represents medallion owners, says the skyrocketing market for taxi medallions could start to reverse because of the growing popularity of ride sharing appslike lyft and uber x. A lot of my clients have expressed concern about those types of applications and cars and medallions. Our pay are concerned that the city of chicago is allowing those to be on the street. The owners of the taxicabs, and make the same amount of money we do. It is stealing business from the taxicabs. But the commissioner of chicagos department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection insists a taxi cab medallion is still a sound investment. The department has a social Media Campaign encouraging consumers to take advantage of licensed chicago cabs. His friend called 911. Emergency responders finally rescued him 20minutes later still clinging to a breaker wall. There were about five of us whod dropped pulled amount. Fern golden, neals mother neal was going to Northern Illinois university and he had a motorcycle and he was going to class and he was cut off by a car. And that was the beginning. that was 1979 and neal golden was 20 years old. there were many bumps in the road along the way. He was in a coma for about a month. they didnt think he was them all. after spending nine months in a spinal cord unit and then a rehabilitation center, neal came home to his parents. Fern and jerry golden have tirelessly cared for their son for the past 34 years, making sure his life is as full and active as possible. Jerry golden first thing hell say in the morning is, are we going out today, are we getting out of the house . he likes to go to different places. like to a blackhawks or bulls game.
