struck a tank, starting as massive fire in north carolina. it happened early this morning at a gas company in greensboro. i-40 and i73, portions of it were closed for hours. firefighters had to use a special phone to put out the blaze and stay on the scene in case the fire started up again. officials say they prepared for an incident like that four year ago. >> the grant was applied for and we received it that allowed us to put in place several measures that would help to mitigate any fire that occurred out here. obviously, our hope was that we would never get to put those things into play. >> reporter: nobody injured in that fire. >> 19 people now confirmed dead from the flash flood that swept through an arkansas campground early friday. one person is still missing. searchers have been looking through piles of debris along the little missouri river. survivors have been standing at a church nearby. victims who have been identified are in arkansas, louisiana and texas. >> as many as 26 people were killed in baghdad after insurgents stormed iraq's central bank, to day. the violence began with bombs going off near the building in baghdad. gunmen then tried to rob the bank, which lead to a three- hour standoff with security forces. insurgents managed to get to the top floor and burned documents. a military spokesman said they apparently wanted to steal the deposits in the bank and then blow up the building. israel has announced an inquiry into last month's deadly rate on floatilla. the inquiry will include foreign observers have canada and ireland. israeli commandos killed picked up 2/100th of an inch of rain. most of the heavy rain was falling through central illinois. we are getting some rainshowers, maybe a clap of thunder in some areas as we speak. meanwhile, time lapse cameras show another gloomy display. this is the way it look the all day today in chicago. we had cloudy skies, but the rain managed to hold off until late in the afternoon. big thunderstorms rolling through the area, in fact, encountered a lake breeze. they tended to diminish a little, but the rain was fairly widespread. this is where the big storms are, southern illinois and southern indiana. notice up here, something in the chicago area. rain and apparently a little thunder action just off the lake front as you look into lake michigan. we expect this kind of nonsense most of the evening, off and on. meantime, further out to the west, the panhandle of texas and oklahoma, big thunderstorms developing out there. we watched them all afternoon, in fact, they were responsible for at least five tornadoes, there have been seven tornado reports all in all extends as far north as nebraska. meantime, high temperature, cloud cover and a lake breeze kept us very chilly, only 70 degrees, 7 or so. some mild air in can a. eventually, we'll get back toward more summery temperatures, but we have to break the lake breeze. there will be another one tomorrow keeping our temperature chillient dew point temperatures, very close to the air temperature and that's producing some fog problems. the wind isn't much of a factor. presently at five to 10-miles per hour, but look at visibility, starting to shrink, especially well away from lake michigan. a thin fog has already formed in this condition. here's the temperature forecast. notice the warm air to the south of us. we are in a relatively mild air regime, thanks to the lake. but plenty of hot air will pour into the chicago area by friday. at which time we have a chance for a 90. look for the showers and thunderstorms to plague the area. low temperatures, 61-66, tomorrow, mostly cloudy, thunderstorms likely with heavy downpours, high temperatures should come in around 70, mostly cloudy tomorrow night, storms possible, low temperature in the 60s with an east wind and then on monday -- or tuesday, we'll tip with mostly cloudy occasional storms and a high temperature, mid-to upper 70s across the area. so, look for a high tomorrow, about 70 and then as you see, we warm up to 79, but more showers and thunderstorms tipping tuesday and maybe into early -- continuing tuesday and maybe into wednesday and we'll get a break, drying out before the next storm comes in with hot air friday evening. the temperature could easily say 90 on friday. more storms possible by the weekend. kind after a messy month
