Anyone who feels harassed should call the depaul Public Safety department. A scare for passengers on a flight out of chicago it was struck by lightning and had to make an emergency landing. United Airlines Flight 4613 was on its way to charleston, south carolina. One passenger says they smelled something burning after lightning jolted the plane. The pilots landed at columbia metroplitan airport and found that the air conditioning unit was damaged. No one was hurt. All 47 passengers were put on a bus to charleston. A man is in custody this morning after yesterdays hostage standoff. He held his two Young Children and two pets inside a semitruck. The standoff occurred on the 44hundred block of south cicero avenue just before rush hour. Police were responding to a call from a woman in bedford park. She said her husband was holding her two small children and two dogs in the cab of a truck and wouldnt release them. Police responded and a short chase began. The city of chicago plans to double the number of cabs that are accessible to people with disabilities. There are about 6 thousand taxis in chicago but only about 160 of them have wheelchair access. Mayor emanuel will announce a plan today that adds at least 200 more accessible taxis over the next four years. The expansion will be paid for in part by the citys accessibility fund.
