collided near milwaukee. it happened at about 8:30 last night in slinger, wisconsin. the trains collided head-on at a spot where two tracks cross. three engines and ten rail cars derailed. two people on the trains were injured. more than one hundred nearby homes were evacuated because one of the train cars was carrying diesel. >> somewhere in the neighborhood of 5,000 gal. of diesel fuel that has been spilled. three engines on the ground. one tank car involved is not leaking. >>residents were told to leave until emergency crews could more information about the contents of the train. they may be allowed to return home later today. another violent weekend in chicago leaves nearly 40 people shot and four dead, including an 11-year-old girl. police and city leaders will meet later this historic lows in murders and overall crime. a hard pill to swallow when you have another violent weekend like we just had with four killed at least 38 injured in shootings across the city. but it's the death of a young girl that is once again putting the spotlight on gun violence. partly because of her age but also because of the tragic way in which she died. killed friday night hit in the head by a stray bullet ripped through the wall of a home where she was attending a slumber party. an emotional mayor spoke about the fragility of life during an event saturday afternoon saying the familiarity of laughter has been replaced by gun violence. >> every child in this city deserves a childhood. how many times are we looking in kit size and it's been stolen? too often. >> she's the 34th child lost this year to gun violence or homicide that is according to the chicago sun-times. today's meeting between city and federal and government leaders gets underway at 10:30 a.m.. is not open to the public. back to. >>the u-n security council is expected to vote on a resolution today, condemning the downing of malaysia airlines flight 17 in ukraine. the resolution demands that those responsible be held accountable, and that armed groups don't compromise the integrity of the crash site. investigators say pro-russian separatists have been preventing them from gaining full access to the wreckage. ukraine and its western allies accuse russia of providing rebels with the missile that shot down the plane on thursday, killing 298 people on board. russia denies any involvement, and suggests ukraine's military is to blame. the rebels say they found the plane's black boxes, and promised to turn them over to international investigators. the bodies of 251 victims have been found. secretary of state john kerry travels to egypt today, to try once again to stop the violence between israel and the palestinians. two american citizens are among 13 israeli soldiers to die in israel's ground campaign in gaza. hundreds of palestinians have been killed -- most of them civilians -- as israeli troops bulldoze secret terrorist tunnels, and target hamas weapons caches. the u.n. security council held an emergency meeting last night, and called for an end to the violence. so far, israel says it has destroyed 16 tunnels, with 43 access points. the palestinians have used them to smuggle tomorrow. an off-duty chicago police officer was killed on his motorcycle when a car cut in front of him on the dan ryan expressway. officer tito rodriguez was southbound at 69th street when investigators say a car changed lanes abruptly trying to get to the 71st street exit. the driver of the car was ticketed. superintendent garry mccarthy extended sympathies to rodriguez's family, saying the loss of an officer affects the whole department. a man died after being tased by a chicago police officer. it happened in the 42-hundred block of south richmond on the southwest side saturday. police responded to a call about a fight and tried to break it up, but the man turned on them. that's when one officer used a stun gun. the case is under investigation by the independent police review authority. eight people, including two children, were injured last night when a porch collapsed on the west side. it happened at a home in the 700 block of north saint louis around six o'clock. all of the victims were taken to local hospitals. one woman was listed in serious condition. a group of sculptures honoring the tuskegee airmen were vandalized on the lakefront. the 13 statues are called *the watch* and were the work of an artist from the pilsen neighborhood. they were installed on the lawn north of the field museum in may. they were tipped over sometime saturday night. some had their hands or fingers broken off and at least one was beheaded. the sculptures celebrate the groundbreaking african american pilots who fought in world war two. illinois children with epilepsy will soon be permitted to use medical marijuana. governor quinn signed the measure at northwestern memorial hospital. the new law takes effect january first. it adds seizures to the list of treatable conditions in the state's medical marijuana program. children with epilepsy will be allowed to consume *oil from the marijuana plant, with their parents' consent. >> to have compassionate artists are setting up phony facebook profiles of the victims of this month's malaysian plane disaster in ukraine. and ukrainian authorities say, the crash site was so poorly secured that thieves went through the wallets and purses of dead passengers, and stole their cash, valuables and credit cards. relatives of the victims are urged to freeze those credit cards, before any unauthorized charges start appearing. rory mcilroy wasn't the only big winner at the british open yesterday. his father's confidence in him will pay off big time, thanks to a bet he made that rory would win the open
