recaptured. and he's due in court this morning. jesse vega has a long criminal record, including aggravated battery charges in a brutal attack on a female acquaintance in the "great america" parking lot. he was on his way from the elgin mental health center to a court hearing yesterday, when officers stopped at a gas station... and vega jumped out of the car and ran away. police put out the word cab, and captured vega. taking a look at the *other top stories this morning. israel and hamas have begun a five-hour cease-fire, to let a humanitarian convoy deliver food and medicine to gaza. israel has been launching airstrikes there, in an effort to destroy hamas targets. hamas has launched hundreds of rockets at israel. the pause in the fighting will allow the people of gaza to get emergency supplies. taliban terrorists attacked the airport in kabul, afghanistan. police say the four men occupied a nearby building under construction... and for four hours, they used it as a base for firing automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades. police surrounded the attackers, and killed them all. no planes were damaged. a worker who was trapped in a grain bin in kendall county, is recovering at a hospital in downers grove. it happened at a company where farmers bring corn and grain to be dried and shipped. the man's leg got stuck yesterday afternoon, in a bin that was about a quarter-full with corn. crews emptied it first, so he wouldn't suffocate. the man was conscious when he was taken to the hospital. an attorney for rod blagojevich filed a new argument in the former governor's appeal of his corruption conviction. the filing alerts the 7th circuit court of appeals to a u-s supreme court ruling in april that soliciting contributions is only corrupt if a politician promises an official action in return. he is serving a 14 year prison term. chicago is getting some federal help in the fight against gun violence. seven additional a-t-f agents are being assigned here, bringing the city's total to 52. the a-t-f's main focus is stopping the flow of illegal guns into the city. attorney general eric holder will announce this move later today. he'll also announce the f-b-i will assign 20 more agents to its violent crime unit in chicago. three congressmen from chicago addressed the city's gun violence on the house floor. congressmen bobby rush, danny davis, and robin kelly talked about that issue last night. davis says the solution isn't just more police.. it's adding more jobs and business opportunities to areas where there are none. >> the solution is to provide people with hope. if they have hope, they don't find or feel the necessity for certain kinds of action. >>davis says money for preventing crime should also be invested in neighborhoods, which could lead to better results. rogers park residents showed up in force for an evening peace march to protest the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man. they gathered at devon and glenwood, where wil lewis was
