Police say russell peenia, the subject of a heroin investigation, struggled with officers, ripped it open, and threw it at the officer. Michael lopes, his passenger, was arrested on drug charges. Heather an Investigation Underway in seekonk after a driver got away from police there. Police tried to stop a car for a violation. The driver took off and that car ended up hitting another car before the driver eventually lost control and hit pole near pleasant street. That driver is now being treated at the hospital. Police still investigating why the driver tried to get away. More than 24 hours, and theres still a lot of unknowns about a deadly crash that happened along 128 south in waltham. This was the scene thursday night after a person walking in the middle of the highway there was hit by several cars and killed. It happened just near exit 26 just before 10 30 thursday. Road and didnt find any vehicles nearby that couldve belonged to the victim. The persons name hasnt been released. Jason a shooting Investigation Underway in New Hampshire. Police in billerica looking for a man accused of dragging a Police Officer 15 feet with his car. It happened at a right aid parking lot. This is on boston road. Police say eric oblenis was sitting in his van, possibly shooting drugs in h accused of throwing the needle on the ground and hitting the Police Officer. As the suspect tried to back up to get away, the officer wasnt badly hurt. But police say oblenis is driving a green Dodge Caravan with rhode island place. Hes facing charges. Jason a man remains in custody this weekend accused of throwing heroin at police during a drug bust. The man facing multiple charges now been thrown out. Fox 25 spoke with a former Police Officer who says the attempted murder charge should never have been filed in the first place. Reporter e. M. T. S wheel the victim into the hospital for exposure to drugs. Russell pena, the subject of a heroin investigation. Struggled with officers, ripped the b officer. His passenger was arrested on drug charges. Pena arrested for multiple offenses including two counts of attempted murder. Ultimately at his arraignment, the attempted murder charges were dropped. Tom nolan, a 27 year Boston Police veteran and merrimack criminology professor says theres a good reason for that. Theres no prosecutor to obtain a guilty conviction in a situation like this. Reporter nolan says filing attempted murder charges for throwing heroin at police is characterize them as frivolous and ridiculous and an abuse of authority. Under mines the Public Confidence that people have or need to have and should have in the police. Reporter but Falmouth Police say pena is known to cut his heroin with fentanyl. They tell fox 25 in a statement heroin particularly combined with fentanyl are both dangerous substances and could have seriously harmed or killed the officers if they had overdosed as a result of this incident. Hes now being treated in the hospital. Police investigated why the driver tried to get away. An underage girl reported a man approached her just before 6 30 on the morning of october 25th and brick ford street in roxbury. The man in the photo right here is believe connected to that crime. Fortunately, the officer was not badly hurt but police say oblenis got away again. Hes driving a green Dodge Caravan with rhode island place. Hes now facing assault and battery with a dangerous Weapon Charges and operating to endanger charges. Jason a falmouth man in custody this weekend accused of throwing heroin at police. The man facing multiple charges fox 25 spoke with a Police Officer who says the attempted murder charge should never have been filed in the first place. Reporter e. M. T. S wheel the suspect into an ambulance. He and two falmouth Police Officers rushed to the hospital for exposure to drugs. Police say russell pena, the subject of a heroin and cocaine investigation, struggled with officers, pulled a bag of what appeared to be heroin from his pants, ripped it open, and then threw it at the officers. Michael lopes, pena was arrested for multiple offenses including two counts of attempted murder. Ultimately at penas arraignment, the attempted murder charges were dropped. Tom nolan, 27 year Boston Police veteran and merrimack criminology professor says theres a good reason for that. Theres no prosecutor able to obtain a guilty conviction in a situation like this. Reporter nolan says filing attempted murder charges for throwing heroin at police is unheard of. These kinds of charges, and i frivolous and ridiculous and an abuse of authority under mines the Public Confidence that people have or need to have and should have in the police. Reporter but Falmouth Police say pena is known to cut his heroin with fentanyl. They tell fox 25 in a statement, heroin, particularly if it is combined with fentanyl, are both dangerous substances and could have seriously harmed or killed the officers if they had overdosed as a result of this incident. Police sent us a link to dea detectives story of their dangerous exposure. Puffed up into the air right into our face and we ended up inhaling it. I felt like my body was shutting down. One family contacted Investigative Reporter Eric Rasmussen after their mobile data use mysteriously spiked overnight with no explanation. Reporter its happening when people are asleep and their phones are turned off even while videos that never actually play. Fox 25 investigates has been looking into that spike in mystery data since july and we found the fcc has received numerous complaints in recent months. Videos, emails, game, every kilobyte comes at a cost. Were paying more and more and more. Reporter heather and tim renault couldnt make sense of their cell phone bill over the summer. Im actually going to have my photographer zoom in to one section of the bridge. The part of the old highland bridge theyre going to be tearing down tomorrow. The other mirror image on the other side of 128 that is what theyre tearing down right now. That is what all of the construction and detours are about. I do want to show you video from sky fox. This is when we flew over the perspective of how widespread this area is. If youre headed out, if you usually take 128 over the weekend, you are going to have to kind of just plan your trip a little bit differently. Again, the northbound lanes have already closed around exit 19. At 6 00 tonight, thats when the southbound lanes are going to close. So detours already in place this morning. There are those very big orange neon signs to help you navigate. Police officers are also here to some people they say are just going to avoid this area completely. Other drivers, of course, thats just not realistic. And some businesses told us that theyre doing what they can to help make it a little easier for drivers. An underage girl reported a man approached here before 6 30 on october 25th on the area of blue hill avenue in roxbury. The man in the photo believed to be connected to the crime. Last seen jumping into a newer model white nissan sentra. Jason concerns over a potential terrorist attack are arising as election day draws closer. This morning, potential threats are being monitored in new york, virginia and texas. Election. Mass. State police will have extra patrols out and the fbi in boston says its actively working to uncover and disrupt any potential threats. Reporter we are seeing a lot more drivers here on the road. This surrounding exit 19 on 128. Taking a look. You can see a line of cars getting on to 128. And this is part of that detour. Because, lanes section around exit 19, thats closed. And so all of these cars right now are being diverted and going back on to 128, you can see that its smooth sailing. But, again, as traffic begins to pick up. Mass. D. O. T. Could see back ups up to two miles long. Something to keep in mind as you head out today. The northbound lanes of 128 already closed. Starting at 6 00 tonight. Thats when crews will close the old highland avenue bridge. If you take this route, you are going to be detoured around the construction. There are already signs. Just to let you know where you need to go. Police officers are also stationed at various points. So theyll be able to help you out. But it could be a little bit tricky. So definitely a good idea just to give yourself a little bit of extra time. In the meantime, some local businesses are making the most out of it. Especially the business here along the busy stretch of some folks, actually tell us the detours actually led to a boost in their business. Came just right out here. Heather thank you. Developing this morning, police in billerica looking for a man accused of dragging a Police Officer 15 feet with his car. It happened in a rite aid parking lot. Eric oblenis was sitting in a van on boston road possibly shooting drugs into his arm. He was seen with this man, seen in a Surveillance Video, and when police approached, oblenis is accused of throwing the needle on the ground and hitting the Police Officer as he fortunately, the officer was not badly hurt. But police say oblenis was driving is a green Dodge Caravan right now with rhode island place. Hes facing assault and battery with dangerous Weapon Charges and operating to endanger charges. Jason a falmouth man remains in custody this weekend accused of throwing heroin at police. The man facing multiple charges right now but an attempted murder charge has been thrown out. Fox 25 spoke with a former Police Officer who says the attempted murder charge should reporter e. M. T. S wheel the suspect into an ambulance. He and two falmouth Police Officers rush to the hospital for exposure to drugs. Police say russell pena, the suspect of a heroin and cocaine investigation, struggled with officers, pulled a bag of what appeared to be heroin from his pants, ripped it open and then threw it at the officers. Michael lopes, penas passenger, was arrested on drug charge offenses including two attempted murder charges. At the arraignment, the attempted murder charges dropped. The professor says theres a good reason for that. Reporter theres no prosecutor to obtain a guilty conviction in a situation like this. Reporter nolan says filing attempted murder charges for throwing heroin at police is unheard of. These kind of charges and i would characterize them as frivolous and ridiculous and an the Public Confidence that people have or need to have and should have in the police. Reporter but Falmouth Police say pena is known to cut his heroin with fentanyl. They tell fox 25 in a statement heroin, particularly if it is combined with fentanyl, are both dangerous substances and could have seriously harmed or killed the officers if she had overdosed as a result of this incident. Police sent us a link to a dea video sharing two new jersey detectives story of their dangerous to exposure. Poofed up in inhaling it. I felt like my body was shutting down. And people around me say that i looked really white. I lost color. And it just really felt like i thought that was it. I thought i was dying. Jason both falmouth officers treated and released from the hospital. Pena being held on 125,000 bail. Military trainers killed when their car didnt stop at the base. They opened fire killing all three and an hurt. Heather this morning, new york city is in mourning after a Police Sergeant killed during a shoot out in the bronx. Police say a man broke into an apartment, where his estranged Police Caught up with him about a mile away. When officers approached, he got out of his car and started shooting. He killed one officer. Hit another one in the leg. Officers returned fire, killing the suspect. But the officer who died was a 19 year veteran of the department and married with two young children. The other officer remains in stable condition this morning. Jason investigators have uncovered a body on a farm in South Carolina one day after rescuing a woman who they say was chained up like a of a shipping container. She went missing two months ago, after she was rescued she told police there could be other bodies on that 100 acre property.
