Heather a Massive Police response in boston after one of their own shot during a traffic stop in dorchester, a 9yearold veteran of the force, now in intensive care this morning. Blair fox 25 brought you the unfolded. That officer shot in the leg and rushed to the boston medical heather the suspect was tackled by other officers as he tried to get away. Blair Stephanie Coueignoux is live this morning, this all started as a traffic stop. Reporter and, blair, thats when the the suspect got out of his car and started shooting at officers of this morning, all is quiet at Police Headquarters. Certainly as you can imagine, a very different story yesterday. And, again, we do want to let you know, last check that officer who was shot is still in intensive care this morning. Police havent released the officers name. We can tell you he is a 9 year earn have around part of the police drug unit. He was rushed to Boston Medical Center yesterday after he was shot in the leg. Again, this all started with that traffic stop yesterday. Police pulled that driver over, knowing he didnt have a valid license. Police say inside that car was 27yearold grant headley. They told us after officers pulled headley over, he got out thats when they say he started shooting at officers. One of the officers was hit in the leg. And training kicked in, that Police Commissioner and that officer pulled out a tourniquet like this one, to wrap around his leg, stop the bleeding and help save his life. He tried to do this, initially because all of our officers have it, then our uniform officers who was nearby heard it and he tied it up. Reporter and i believe that youre taking a look at headleys mug shot right now. Police were able to tackle him just down the street and taken into custody. Weve also learned that he was just released from jail months ago. Weve dug into his past and took a look at his criminal history. Heather the shooting in boston comes on the heels of an officer shooting in philadelphia as well. That crime allegedly committed in the eyes of isis. Urging officers to be vigilant. The shooting in philadelphia happened late thursday night. The whole thing played out on surveillance camera. You watch right here, with the gunman with the gun drawn, approaches the police cruiser, police say he fired 13 times into that cruiser. Three of the bullets hitting jeff knee hand net in the arm. Im shot. Im bleeding heavily. Heather the video thens and you can see the officer get out of the cruiser and shoot at the suspect. He was shot once and taken into custody quickly. The weapon he used was a stolen police gun. It was stolen back in october of 2013. It was reported. And that is one of the things most, when an officers gun is stolen, that it is used against one of your own. Heather and now the fbi has joined in the investigation into the shooting. Injuries that will require multiple surgeries but he is expected to recover. Blair and both of those shootings drawing strong association. As they called to an end of the violence against police. In philadelphia a Police Officer was almost assassinated. Somebody came up to him in the cruiser, ambushed him, fired 13 times into the cruiser. This has become a daily occurrence in this country, it cannot stand. Blair and fox 25 will follow the shooting in philadelphia and the boston Police Officer shooting. Donnie sanchez in court yesterday for a dangerous hearing. He was arrested after his girlfriends 3yearold son was brought to the hospital on new years day. That boy was seriously hurt and needed surgery for repair of a perforated bowel. He have it was already arrested for threats he made against the mother. A mother of 4 month old baby, arrived home to find the dead bolt, lowed and conwaylally too drunk to even open it. She had a newly empty bottle of been 3 times the legal limit had she been driving. Mario roman was in court yesterday for an incident that happened thursday near granite and north street. Prosecutors say he admitted to having an altercation with another driver. Not being charged. We do now know that that behavior allegedly entails a series of internet chats with someone he thought was a 13yearold girl. Reporter hes not faces any criminal charges but the allegations are disturbing. This report obtain by as fox 25 investigates. Former principal, edward rosemary writ spoke over a one month period to someone he it was actually decoy for the nonperverted justice foundation. According to the report, the foundation contacted investigators and provided chat logs, screen shots of chats, Text Messages and photo emails. Allegedly admitted to the decoy. He was a principal and a father, but, said, he was just a regular guy in a chat room. And his chat name, a agree guy. The chats were sexual in nature and that he initiated the sexual chat. Fox 25 first reported that they had been to his place for an examination. Examination of his desktop activity found activity from the two browsers in question. A school issued dell laptop also contained evidence consistent with chat activity on those websites. Plus dozens of graphic files depicting adult pornography. Rosemary rick, he acknowledged his behavior was inappropriate and said he did it because its exciting. For the third time since this story broke, we tried to reach him but he did not come to the door. But parents had plenty say to say when we told them what we learned. I think its horrific, certainly as a principal of a school, you know, with children. The best thing is that hes not here any more. Thats how i feel. The most important thing is obviously our kids safety. And i think they did a great job by telling him, hes no longer with the school. Reporter and in a letter sent home to parents this week, the district explained when they learned of the allegations, they immediately suspended rosemary rick and followed a no trespass order. We did reach out to the attorney, and there are no charges against rosemaryic. State law requires him to entice a victim to a specific location and theres no indication that rosemaryic did not do that. In not charges rosemaryic, the District Attorneys Office does not suggest that his conduct in any way was appropriate. As repugnant as his act was, it simply does not cross the criminal line. But were going to continue to check in throughout the morning. As for the suspect involved, he is in jail this morning. It all happened with a traffic in dorchester. Officers pulled grant headley over, because he didnt have a thats when police say he got out of the car and started he hit the officer in the leg. And then ran. Police tackling him moments later. When we looked into headleys past, we learn that he had been released from jail just about nine months ago. And we found that hes he had been arrested six other times. Most of those arrests were for illegal weapons and drug charges. The most recent arrest in 2009, when Police Charged him with four counts of carrying a firearm without a license. A man walked in, demanded cash and ran offer. When Police Arrived, this he realized the suspect description matched five other armed robberies in the last two weeks. Rashardbenton, jr. They found to his apartment and found evidence linking him to all six robberies. He will be arraigned on monday. Heather also this noon. Cocaine, marijuana, thousands of cash, taken off the streets of worcester. It is a multidrug investigation that led to the arrest of a new york man accused of being a drug dealer. That man is in jail right now. Hell be arraigned on monday. Two more area colleges have now banned hoverboards. Umass amherst and Boston College say the devices are too dangerous to have on campus as weve been reporting the batteries can overheat causing the hoverboard to catch on fire. People also fall and get hurt. Emerson college banned the boards earlier this week citing similar concerns. This morning, he remains in intensive care. Blair fox 25 brought you the breaking updates on a story all day long yesterday as they unfolded here. That officer was hit in the leg and taken to surgery at Boston Medical Center. Heather the 27yearold suspect had only. Blair stephanie, this all started as a traffic stop. Reporter and blair, it was during that traffic stop, when that suspect got out of his car and started shooting at officers. It is quiet this morning, outside of Boston Police headquarters. But as you can imagine, a very different story yesterday. And when we last checked. That officer who was shot in the leg, he was still in intensive care at the hospital. Police havent released the officers name. But, again, we can tell you he is a 9 year earn have police drug unit. He was rushed yesterday can after being shot in the leg. This all started with the traffic stop in dorchester. Police pulled that driver over knowing he didnt have a valid license. Police say inside that car was 27yearold grant headley. They told us after officers pulled headley over, he got out of his vehicle and they say unprovoked, thats when he started shooting at the officers. One of those officers was hit in the leg. Immediately commissioner william in. The officer took out a turn nick adequate like this one to stop his life. We try to do it initially because all of our officers have it then a fellow uniformed officer heard the call and he tied it up. Reporter youre taking a police were able to tackle him down the street and take him into custody and we have learned he has been released from jail a few months ago. Heather the shooting in boston comes on the heels of an officer shooting in philadelphia as well. That crime allegedly committed in the name of isis. The attack has departments across the country on high alert, urging officers to be vigilant. The shooting . Philadelphia happened late thursday night. The whole thing played out in on surveillance camera. See how the gunman has the gun gone drawn, approaches the police cruiser, police say he fired 13 times. Just three of the bullets hit officer jesse heart net in the arm. An officer shot. Im bleeding heavily and you see him get out and shoot at the suspect. That suspect was hit once and taken into custody. Were told the weapon he used was a stolen police gun. Stolen back in october of 2013. It was reported. And that is one of the things most. When an officers gun is stolen, your own. Heather now the fbi has joined in on the investigation into the shooting. It happened as that woman was trying to cross webster street just before 8 00 last night. Police say she had serious nonlifethreatening injuries. The driver of the jeep did stay on the scene. Police do not believe drug dr. Alcohol or speed were factors. Also working on another crash ha happened overnight in malden. On lynn street. Not much left of one car after a crash. Marsha rowdy was the director for the North Central dcf office which worked on the case of 5yearold jeremiah oliver. He disappeareded. And social workers did not check on him for months. He was later found dead. The herald reported that rowdy has become the director of the Western Region now. A worcester man held without bail accused of beating a little boy to the point that the child needed surgery. 23yearold Johnny Sanchez was in court yesterday for a dangerous hearing. He was arrested after his girlfriends son was brought to the hospital on new years day. That boy was seriously hurt and needed surgery to repair a perforated bowel. Sanchez was facing charges from november for threats he made against the little boys mother. Heather a man see accused of being too drunk to watch a susan conwaylally was arrested monday after she was supposed to be babysitting. Police tell fox 25, the mother of 4yearold arrived home to find the dead bolt locked and conwaylally too drunk to open it. Firefighters had to break that door with an ax. The babysitter had a nearly empty bottle of vodka in her purse and wouldve been more than 3 times the legal limit had she gotten behind the wheel. Conwaylally was hired off the waltham based website care. Com which connects caregivers and parents. This makes the third case involving that website. In 2013, a woman got arrested for stealing more than a quarter Million Dollars from a beacon hill family. And last fall, for wracking up thousands on a familys credit card. Care. Com do encourage people to hiring a sitter. But they also caution that those checks are not completely accurate or complete. We reached out to the company about susan conwaylally. Care. Com tells us the company is deeply troubled by the incident and helping police with the investigation. Conwaylally is ordered to stay away from the family and due back in court next month. Blair a weymouth woman accused of shoplifting with two Young Children by her side. Sandra savage was stuffing items from the walmart on Middle Street into a baby carriage. Her friends oneyearold was in the stroller and savages own 9yearold grandson was with her. Police say when savage was confronted about i an employee she and the kids ran off crossing busy washington street and taking cover in a Dominos Pizza. At some point, savage left the kids alone in the restaurant to hide out in the walk in refrigerator. She stood up quickly and said, somebody is chasing me. And walked right around the store, appeared to become somewhat confused, went into the cooler. Blair police had to pry open that door to get to savage. Now facing multiple charges including recklessly endanering a child. A 15yearold came home from school on thursday in attleboro only to interrupt a robbery in her home. Thomas mccullough was arrested after spotting him run out the back door. He admitted into breaking into a pair of homes to support his heroin addiction. Hes now being held on 20,000 bail. Heather happening this morning, the community will be coming together to pick up the pieces after vandalism happened at a local graveyard. Starting at 8 30 this morning, an hour and 20 minutes from now, a local mason group and volunteers will head to Pleasant Hill cemetery to restore headstones that were damaged last week. This is the fifth time since 2012 that that cemetery has been hit by vandals. The caretaker tells fox 25 damages are estimated to be about 30,000. Reporter we started looking into it after shots were fired outside of the forest hill station in october. Two people arrested in what police say was a gang fight. Our investigation found overall Violent Crime up at t stops from 2013 to 2014. But therise in the number of assault, burglaries and larcenies. And we discovered forest hill has repeatedly seen most crime of all of the t stations. In the top five for Violent Crimes. Two years, south station, Downtown Crossing and forest hills. Here on the red line at the ail weight station, so far this year, its leading the way for the number of crimes reported. Thats largely due to the number of bikes being stolen. We have to be open. Which inherently makes us a soft target. Superintendent, Richard Sullivan says the amount of crime for the volume of people isnt that bad. The frequent station of crime is the direct result of where most approximate people pass through. But theyve recently put more officers at the station, including more undercover officers. Also using more cameras like these. They aid us greatly in our investigations without i could give you examples of some investigations where if we did not have the benefit of our Public Safety camera system i dont believe the likelihood that we would have been able to solve those crimes. Heather the suspect had just been released from prison this past spring. He was tackled by other officers as he tried to get away. And i have checked in with Boston Police to get an update on that officers condition. Of course, as soon as we get any new information, i will let you know. As for the suspect, he remains in jail this morning. As you mentioned, this did all start with a traffic stop in dorchester yesterday. Officers pulled over that suspect, identified as 27yearold grant headley, because he didnt have a valid license. That is when police say headley got out of his car and started shooting, hitting one of those officers in his leg. Headley then ran. Police tackling him moments later. We did look into headleys past. And we learned that hes been released from jail just about nine months ago. Hes actually been arrested six other times. Most of those arrests for illegal weapons and drug charges and the most recent being in 2009. When Police Charged him with four counts of carrying a firearm without a license. Fox 25 also was the first station to speak with headleys father about his sons arrest. Take a listen. Reporter any message for the yes. My sympathy goes out to the officer. A new york Police Officer has been hospitalized after that officer was shot in the ankle while responding to a call. This happened in the bronx early this morning. We know that multiple officers were responding to calls about some sort of massive fight. We can tell you that that officer is now in stable condition. That officer did return fire. Seriously hurting the suspected shooter. Of course were going to stay on top of this story for you. More information about the suspects history with police, including when he was last arrested. Blair a series of robberies in worcester cracked wide open. A bank on lincoln street, a man walked in and demanded cash and ran off. When police got there, they realized the description matched five other armed robberies in the last five weeks. They believe hes richard vicinity ton, jr. They linked him to all six robberies. He will be arraigned on monday. Heather two more area colleges banned hoverboards, Umass Amherst and Boston College have reported the devices too dangerous. As weve been reporting, they can overheat causing the hoverboard to catch on fire and Emerson College also banned the boards earlier this week citing similar safety concerns. Blair a type of underground cable that caused an explosion on local beach could also be causing other explosions at other beaches it could be bury add 48 other practice us in 12 states including rhode island and new york. They were converted to solar power. Last summer a woman was hurt after a corroded cable caused an explosion at salty brine beach in narragansett. Heather a congressman plan to house undocumented immigrant teenager at a air force base. It is the countrys obligation to help these young people. Heather a Massive Police response in boston after a Police Officer is shot during a traffic stop in dorchester. That officer a 9 year veteran of the force. This morning, in intensive care. Blair fox 25 brought you the updates on this story all day long as they unfolded from the scene. That officer was hit in the leg and taken to Boston Medical Center. Heather fox 25 also learned that the 27yearold suspect had only just been released from prison this past spring. As he tried to get away. Blair Stephanie Coueignoux is live at Police Headquarters on updates on the story. This all started at a traffic stop. Reporter and blair, it was during that traffic stop that the suspect got out of the car and started shooting at officers. It is quiet today at Police Headquarters but certainly a different situation yesterday. And we do want to let you know when we last checked, that officer was still in the hospital, in intensive care. Now police havent released thatter thatter officers name. He was a 9 year veteran. Part of the drug unit. He was rushed to boston medical leg. This all happened during a traffic stop in dorchester. They pulled that driver open, knowing he didnt have a valid license. Police say inside that scar was 27yearold grant headley. They told us after officers pulled headley over, he got out unprovoked started shooting at officers, hitting one of the officers in the leg. Immediately, a Police Commissioner William Evans says the Officers Training kicked in and that officer took out a tourniquet like this one to wrap around his leg to stop the bleeding and helped save his life. He tried to do his initially because all of our officers have it but then a fellow uniformed officer who was nearby, heard the call, and he tied it off. Reporter and youre taking a look at headleys mug shot right there on your screen. Now, police were able to tackle him down the street and take him into custody. We have learned that he was released from jail just a number of months ago. And weve been digging into his criminal background. Coming up in 30 minutes, were going to have those details as well as what the headleys father told us about all of this. Outside of Boston Police headquarters, Stephanie Coueignoux, fox 25 news. Blair now to breaking news in our newsroom this morning. In the hospital after being shot in the ankle while responding to a call. We told you in the last 30 minutes that the shooting happened early this morning in the bronx. Police were responding to multiple calls about a massive fight at the time. That officer, we know returned fire, seriously hurting the suspected shooter. New york citys Police Commissioner said the suspect had just been released from custody on another charge. Preliminary investigation indicates this suspect has a criminal history of five prior arrests over the last several years, including an arrest just yesterday, 9 a. M. Yesterday morning, on the charge of fair beating, in which he was released from court at 11 p. M. Last night, three hours before the shooting involving our Police Officer. Blair were told the officer is in stable condition and will make a full recovery. Today is that officers fourth anniversary with the department. Heather wow. Both of those incidents also coming on the heels of an officer shooting in philadelphia. Which was allegedly committed in the name of isis. Departments around the country on high alert. Urging officers to be vigilant. The shooting in philadelphia happening late thursday night. And it all playing out on surveillance camera. Watch right here as the gunman with the gun drawn approaches the police cruiser. Police say he fired 13 times. Three of the bullets hitting officer jesse hartnett, hitting him in the arm. Shots fired. Im shot im bleeding heavily heather the video continues you can see officer hartnett getting out of his cruiser, shooting at the fleeing suspect. That suspect was hit once. Custody. The weapon he used was a stolen police gun. It was stolen back in 2013, it was reported. And that is one of the things that you absolutely regret the most, when an officers gun is stolen, that it is used against one of your own. Joined on the investigation of the shooting. Officer hartnett does have serious injuries that require multiple surgeries but expected to recover. Blair and the Police Shootings drawing strong reaction from the Boston Police association. Was there as the group called for the end of violence against police. In philadelphia, a Police Officer was almost assassinated. Somebody came up to him in a cruiser, ambushed him, fired i believe 13 times into the cruiser. This has become a daily occurrence in this country. It cannot stand. An investigation is underway in hudson, New Hampshire, after a woman there was struck by a car. It happened when the woman was trying to cross webster street. Just before 8 00 last night. Police say she has serious but nonlife threatening injuries. The driver of the jeep that hit no word yet on the cause but police say they do not believe factors. Blair new this smorng morning, the person once in charge of a state office under fire for a disappearance of a child. Marcia roddy was in charge of the case of jeremiah oliver, he disappeared in 2013. After social workers did not check on him for months. He was later found dead. This morning, the herald is reporting that rowdy is reported director for the Western Region. A worcester man in jail accused of beating a little boy to the point that the child needed surgery. 123yearold Johnny Sanchez was in court yesterday for a hearing. He was arrested after his 3 in old son was brought to the hospital and needed surgery for perforated bowel. Mother and arrested last november. Heather a localnan see accused of being too drunk to watch a baby in her care. She was arrested on saturday after a salem apartment where she was supposed to be babysitting. Police telling fox 25, the mother of a 4monthold arrived home to find the dead bolt locked and conwaylally too drunk to open it. Firefighters had break that door with an ax. The babysitter had a nearly empty bottle of vodka in her purse. Wouldve been three times more the limit had she gotten behind the wheel of a car. She was hired off of care. Com which connects caregivers and parents. And this is the third case involving that website care. Com where a babysitter has been in trouble with the law. In 2013, Boston Police arrested a woman for stealing more than a quarter of a Million Dollars and this past fall, a georgia babysitter was arrested for wracking up thousands of dollars on a familys credit card. Care. Com urges people to order background checks before hiring a sitter but the website also cautions those checks arent always accurate or complete. Now we did reach out to the company about conwaylally. Care. Com told us the company is deeply troubled by the incident and working with police helping with the investigation. Conwaylally has been ordered to stay away from that family and due back in court next month. Blair a woman in weymouth accused of shoplifting with two Young Children by her side. 40yearold sandra savage accused of stuffing items into a baby carriage. Her friends son and her own 9 year old grandson was with her. When confronted, she ran off and ran across washington street and at some point, she left the kids alone in the restaurant to hide out in the walk in refrigerator. She stood up quickly and said, somebody is chasing me be and walked right around the counter, into the back of the store. Appeared to become somewhat confused, went into the cooler. Blair police said they had to pry open the door to get to savage. Shes now being held on bail. And facing multiple charges. A scary afternoon for a teen in North Attleboro. The 15yearold came home from School Thursday only to interrupt a robbery in her home. Thomas mccullough was arrested after the girl spotted him running out the back door. The sun chronicle reporting that mccullough is admitted to breaking into a number of homes to support his heroin addiction. Hes now being held on bail. Heather mexican king pin el chapo back in custody this morning after spending six months on the run. Navy leading el chapo into an suv shortly after. It comes moments after a shootout that left five of the drug lords men dead. It comes after this video surfaced as well. This shows el chapo escaping from a maximum security prison. And fox 25 investigates the first to bring you a Police Report this week detailing the allegations surrounding former principal who resigned in december. At the time, inappropriate behavior on School Computers was the reason given by the district for the resignation. Even though the principal is not being charged, we now know what that behavior allegedly entailed. A series of internet chats with someone who he thought was a 13yearold girl. Reporter hes not facing any criminal charges but the allegations are disturbing. This Police Report obtained by fox 25 investigates says former swampscott high principal Edward Rozmiarek chatted with someone he thought was a 13yearold girl. Foundation. The foundation tipped off investigators and provided chat logs, screen shots of chats and Text Messages and emails. He admitted to the decoy, he was said, quote, was just a regular guy in a chat room. Appeared used the chat room name, a great guy. They were sexual in nature and that he initiated the sexual chat. Fox 25 first reported in december. State police had been to rozmiareks home for an investigation. We can now tell you that an investigation of his desk stop computer found browser activity from the two browsers in question. And police also say a school issued dell laptop also contained evidence consistent with chat activity on those websites. Plus dozens of graphic files depicting adult pornography. When investigators questioned rozmiarek, he acknowledged his behavior was inappropriate and said he did it, quote, because its exciting. For the third time since this story broke. We tried to reach rozmiarek at his home. He did not come to the door. Told him he learned. I think its horrific in general, horrific certainly as a principal of a school with children. The best thing is that hes not here any more. Most importantly is obviously our kids safety and i think they did a great job by telling him that hes no longer with the school. Heather and in a letter sent home to parents this week, the district explained when they learned of the allegations they immediately suspended rozmiarek and to filed a no trespass order in all of the schools against him. We did reach out to rozmiareks attorney who emphasized there are no criminal charges against rozmiarek at this time. You might be oneerring at home why that is. The District Attorney tells us state law does require the defendant must entice an alleged victim to a specific location and theres no evidence that rozmiarek did that. While that is the case, the District Attorney tells fox 25 in a statement, quote, in not charging mr. Rozmiarek, the District Attorneys Office does any way appropriate. As repugnant as his conduct was, it simply does not cross the criminal line. Jason meteorologist jason brewer. Tracking a little bit of light rain, light snow this morning. Blair we are staying on top of a developing story this morning, in new york city where a Police Officer was shot early this morning. Three hours after the suspect had been released on custody of another charge. Heather this was in the bronx. The officer was hit in the ankle. He is expected to make a full recovery. But this shooting marks the third of its kind of an officer shot in just as many days. Well have more on that with a live report from Stephanie Coueignoux ahead. Blair first it is january 9th, 8 30. The officer a 9 year veteran at the Boston Police department is in intensive care this morning. Blair we brought you the news yesterday as they unfolded from the scene. The officer was shot in the leg and rushed to surgery at Boston Medical Center. Heather the 27yearold suspect had only been released this past spring. He was tackled about i officers as he tried to get away. Blair Stephanie Coueignoux is live at the Police Headquarters to get more on thor to. This all started as a traffic stop, stephanie. Reporter it did. And i do want to let you know ive been checking in with Boston Police to get an update on that officers condition. We will know as soon as we know. As for the suspect, he is still in jail this morning. Started with a traffic stop yesterday in dorchester. Officers told 27yearold grant headley over because he didnt have a valid license. But thats when police say headley got out of his car and then started shooting and hitting that officer in the leg. Police were able to tackle him moments later and we also looked into headleys past. We learned he was released from jail just about nine months ago and also found out hes been arrested six other times. Most of those arrests for illegal weapons and drug charges. Now the most recent being in 2009 when Police Charged him with four counts of carrying a firearm without a license. Fox 25 was the very first station to speak with headleys father after his sons arrest. Take a listen. Reporter any message for the Boston Police Department Today . Yes. My sympathy goes out to the officer. Behavior. If he did it, hes wrong. Reporter do you this i if he did do this, hes lucky to be alive . Yeah, i think so. Yeah, he is. He is lucky. Blair new this morning, a series of robberies in worcester cracked wide open. The final robbery happened at the Commerce Bank in lincoln. The man walked in and demanded cash and ran off. When police got this they realize his the description matched five other robberies in the last six weeks. They realize now, hes richard vinton, jr. They linked him to all five robberies at his apartment. Heather also new this morning, cocaine, marijuana, and thousands of dollars in cash are now off the streets of portsmouth, New Hampshire. This was the result of a multijurisdictional drug investigation that led to the arrest of a new york man accused of dealing drugs. That man in is in jail. Hell be arraigned on monday. Blair youll be able to fare hikes of the mbta. It starts january 19th. The board is set to vote on the fare hike on 7 to 10 in march. A group of california teachers will argue mandatory fees violate First Amendment rights of workers who disagree with the political positions. A Massive Police response in boston after a boston Police Officer shot at a traffic stop in dorchester. We can tell you that that officer is a 99 9 year veteran of the Boston Police department. This morning, hes remains in intensive care. Blair that officer hit in the leg and rushed to surgery at Boston Medical Center. Heather the 27yearold suspect just released from prison this past spring. He was still out on probation, but he was tackled by officers as he tried to get away. Blair Stephanie Coueignoux live outside of Police Headquarters. This all started as a traffic stop, stephanie . Reporter it was during that traffic stop, blair, that police say the suspect got out of his car and then began shooting at officers. Still in jail this morning. But, again, we can let you know, when we last checked, that officer was still . Intensive care. The police hasnt released his name but we can tell you he a it was a 9 year veteran. He was rushed to Boston Medical Center after he was shot in the egg will. This all started during that traffic stop in dorchester. Pulled that driver over knowing he did not have a valid license. They say inside that car was 27yearold grant headley. They told us after officers pulled headley over, he got out of his vehicle and then they say unprovoked he started shooting at officers, hitting one of them in the leg. Immediately boston Police Commissioner William Evans said his training kicked in and that officer took out a tourniquet like this one to wrap around his leg to stop that bleeding and help save his life. He tried to do hisish inially, about all of our but then a fellow uniformed officer who was nearby and he tied it off. Reporter thats headleys mug shot. Police were able to tackle him down the street and then take him into custody. We have learned that he was released from jail just a number of months ago. Weve been digging into his criminal history. Blair this morning, were updating breaking news out of new york city where a Police Officer is in the hospital shot in the ankle while responding to a call there. That shooting happened early this morning we understand in the bronx. Police responded to multiple calls about a massive fight at the time. The officer returned fire, seriously hurting the suspected shooter. New york citys Police Commissioner said the suspect had just been released from custody on another charge. Our preliminary stress indicates this suspect has a years. Yesterday. 9 a. M. Yesterday morning. On the charge of fare beating. In which he was released from court 11 p. M. Last night 3 hours our Police Officer. Blair good news to pass along that officer is in stable recovery. Today is that fourth anniversary with the department. Heather a shooting at on 2 hands of another officer. This one in philadelphia. That crime allegedly committed in the name of isis. The attack has departments around the country on high alert, urging officers to be vigilant. The shooting in philadelphia happening late thursday night. The whole thing playing out on surveillance camera, as you can see here, the gunman has the gun drawn. He approaches the Police Officer. And had that gun in there. He say the suspect shot 13 times. And that three of the bullets hit the officer. Im shot shots fired im bleeding heavily heather that suspect, was hit once and taken into custody. The weapon he used was a stolen police gun. It was stolen back in october of 2013. It was reported. And that is one of the things that you absolutely regret the most when an officers gun is stolen, that it be used against one of your own. Heather the fbi is has joined in the investigation of the shooting. Officer hartnett has serious injuries that will require multiple surgeries but he is expected to recover. By the way, with all of these Police Involved shootings, it is worth mentioning that today just happens to be National Law Enforcement appreciation day. Blair and those shootings drawing strong reaction from the Boston Police patrolmans association. Fox 25 was there yesterday as the president of the group called for an end of the violence against police. Officer was almost assassinated. Somebody came up to him in the cruiser, ambushed him, fired i believe 13 times into the cruiser. This has become a daily occurrence in this country. It cannot stand. Heather new this morning, an investigation is underway in hudson New Hampshire after a woman was struck by a car. It happened as the woman was trying to cross the street on webster street before 8 last night. Police say she has serious but nonlife threatening injuries. A driver of the scombreep that hit her did say on the scene. No word on the cause of the crash. But police say they do not believe drugs alcohol or speed were fact the tors. Blair also a person once in charge of a state office under disappearance of a child is now leading another office. Cia roddy was the director of oliver. He was later found dead. This morning, the herald is reporting that roddy is the director for the Western Region. Heather a local man faces a judge accused of too drunk to watch a baby in her care. Susan conwaylally was arrested on monday after a dramatic scene at a salem apartment where she was supposed to be babysitting. Police tell fox 25 the mother of a fourmonthold baby arrived home to find the dead bolt locked and conwaylally too drunk to even open it. Firefighters ended up having to break that door with an ax. Police say the babysitter had a nearly empty bottle of vodka in her purse and wouldve been more than three times the legal limit had she gotten behind the wheel of a car. She was hired off of the waltham based website care. Com which connects caregivers and parents. That website where a babysitter has gotten into trouble with the law. In 2013, Boston Police arrested a woman for stealing more than a quarter of a Million Dollars from a beacon hill family. Her friend oneyearold in the stroller and savages 9yearold police say when savage was confronted by employees she and the kids ran off. Crossed washington street and took cover inside a Dominos Pizza. At some point, savage left the kids alone in the restaurant to hide out in the walk in refrigerator. She stood up quickly and said, somebody is chasing me and walked right around the counter, into the back of the store. Appeared to become somewhat confused, went into the cooler. Blair police say they had to pry open the door to get to savage. Shes now being held on bail and facing multiple charges including recklessly endangering a child. Weve been looking through years of information to see which stops see the most crime. I dug into this information and took it to officials to see what theyre doing about it. Reporter hundreds of thousands of people use the t to get where theyre going. I have to come through here regardless. Reporter including seeley who tries to watch for any trouble. But i am mindful that anything can happen. Reporter fox 25 investigates spent weeks looking into years of data with the mbta that breaks down the crimes happening at t stations. Its definitely startling. Reporter we started looking into it after shots were fired outside the forest hill station in october. Two people arrested in what police say was a gang fight. Our investigation found overall Violent Crime up at t stops in 2014 to 2013. Larcenies. And we discovered forest hill has repeatedly seen some of the most crime of all t stations. In 2014, these in the top five for Violent Crime. Three of them in the top five for two years running, south station, Downtown Crossing, and forest hills. Here on the red line, at the ale wife station, so far this year, leading the way to the number of thats largely due to the spike in bikes being stolen. We have to be open which inherently makes us a soft target. Reporter Richard Sullivan says the amount of crime for the volume of people isnt that bad. The frequent station climb is a direct result of where most people pass through. But they recently put more officers at the stations, including more undercover officers. Theyre also using morely caras like these. Investigations. Without, i could give you some investigations where if we did not have the benefit of our Public Safety camera system, i dont believe the likelihood that we wouldve been able to solve those crimes. So just a heads up, over the next hour, were still monday slick roads, elevated surfaces, bridges overpasses in particular. Right into the radar, light rain east, the snow showers west, just got a picture in from bury, where flurries are tapering off. Shoes bury, right along 190, along 495, a little of the snow mix in towards marlboro there. Framingham over to newton down to medway, boston, lynn, all the way to beverly, just light rain. A little snow earlier around haverhill. That appears to have rapped up at this hour. We had light rain this morning, through midday. That continues to dissipate. Overcast sky. No sun today. A Police Officer shot early this morning in new york city. It happened about three hours after the suspect had been repoliced from custody on heather this was in the bronx. That officer hit in the ankle. Expected to make a full recovery this morning. But the shooting does mark the third instance of an officer shot in as many days. That forecast straight ahead. Heather a Massive Police response in boston as weve been telling you after a boston Police Officer is shot during a traffic stop in dorchester. An officer. A 9 year veteran of bp d. This morning, remaining in intensive care. Blair fox 25 brought you the story all day long yesterday as it unfolded. The officer hit in the leg and rushed to Boston Medical Center for surgery. Heather the suspect had only been released from prison this past spring. He was out on probation. He was tackled by other officers when he tried to run. Blair fox 25 Stephanie Coueignoux is live at Police Headquarters. And stephanie as you pointed out this all started as a traffic reporter and blair, i want let you know in last 15 minutes, i did receive an update before Boston Police about that officers condition. A spokesman told me the officer is doing well and continues to recover from his injuries. However, he declined to say whether that officer is now out of the intensive care unit. But some good news this morning. As for the suspect, he remains in jail this morning. It all started with a traffic stop yesterday in dorchester. Officers pulled 27yearold grant headley over because he didnt have a valid license. Thats when police say headley got out of his car and started shooting, hitting one of those officers in the leg. And then he ran away. But police were able to tackle him moments later. We also looked into headleys past and we learned that he was released from jail, just about nine months ago. We also found out that hes been arrested six other times. Illegal epwith and drug charges. That most recent arrest was back in 2009. Thats when Police Charged him with four counts of carrying a firearm without a license. Fox 25 also the very first station to speak with headleys father after his sons arrest. Take a listen. Reporter any message for the Boston Police Department Today . Yes, my sympathy goes out to the officer. I dont condone that kind of behavior. If he did it, you know, hes wrong. The Police Commissioner telling us that that officer used a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and that action, very quick action, by him and his colleagues likely saved his life. At Boston Police headquarters, Stephanie Coueignoux, fox 25 news. Blair new this morning, a cracked wide open. The final robbery happened thursday at the Commerce Bank on lincoln street. A man walked in and demanded cash and ran off. They realized the description matched five other robberies in the past two weeks. They now believe hes richard vinton, jr. They found evidence linking him at his apartment to all six robberies and then turned himself into police later that afternoon. He will be arraigned on monday. You be able to sound off on fare hikes a series of meetings set to start. At these meetings possible changes to Late Night Service will also be discussed. Heather two area colleges have now banned hoverboards a popular christmas gift. They belong to attorney Michael Haney at the time representing mortgage lenders during closings. Just this week, the ag filed a civil suit against him. Adult supervision as defined by the bill, a responsible 21yearold. Under the bill, the 18 to 20yearold would not have legal access to alcohol. For one thing they could only consume beer and wine. Plus it makes no apparent purchase or possess alcohol. People cant even handle their own alcohol. So i dont see being 18 years of age being around alcohol, i dont think thats safe. Reporter the drinking age in New Hampshire was lowered to 18 in the 1970s, but bumped back up to 2130 years ago along with every other state. A representative for mothers against drunk driving or madd tells fox 25 thats where it should stay. It is a well studied health poll that has saved lives and now more than ever its needed because teen alcohol use has declined. But teen alcohol use still continues to kill 4700 people a year. Reporter and the madd spokesperson says beer and wine is just as harmful to teens as hard liquor. Heather sisters at Supreme Court heard on monday and the decision could have a Significant Impact right here in massachusetts. Justices will decide whether states can keep requiring employees who are not in a union to pay union fees, though, for negotiating. The decision will impact teacher teachers, nurses, and firefighters. A group of california teachers will argue that mandatory fees violate First Amendment rights of workers, though, who disagree with the unions position. Particularly a unions political position. Union advocates say the fees cover the cost of negotiating employee contracts. This is really an agenda that says, lets weaken unions.
