Weve got a weak boundary across the region thats going to be the culprit of some cooler air for the second half of the weekend. Today i want to point out, wakely up to mostly the 40s and 50s, although we have a few cooler spots like keene into the 30s. Areas of fog in some spots, but not that dense fog that we had yesterday morning. Thats because the winds have calmed across southwestern New Hampshire. That wind is active along the coast so we will continue to see fine visibility through the morning, but just be prepared for some limited visibility where we do see some later winds. Temperatures today on the rise. Again climbing well into the 50s if not 60. Ill show you what to expect in your town coming up in just a little bit. This morning the Investigation Continues into thursdays runaway mbta train. Here is what we know so far. Govenor Charlie Baker admitting the operating made several mistakes on that red lion train. One of those mistakes is a detail fox25 first reported. Trains accelerator. The mbta said the operator did not set the brakes before stepping off the train. If you can imagine the entire situation putting riders in quite a dangerous situation. Now the agency is sending extra reminders out to its employees writing. Fox25 stephanie is live where stephanie. Eric, that train actually left braintree station which is right here behind me. It traveled nine minutes through four different stops without a conductor on board. And because there is only one conductor on board every train, there was no one else left to sound the alarm, so we went inside the mbta command center because we wanted to learn more about how dispatchers were able to eventually stop that train. They told us when dispatchers on the platform realized the conductor wasnt on board thats when they alerted the command center and that train had left the station. Dispatchers alerted other trains on the tracks to keep moving so they wouldnt get hit and the closest one just 10 minutes away from that runaway rain. Rain train. However the fact that this train wasnt making any station stops. Obviously that window would have diminished. And because there wasnt a conductor on board to activate the emergency stop on that system, dispatchers had to cut power to the third rail which is what powers every train on the tracks. The system also doesnt have anyway for the command center to alert passengers on board trains about what was going on, so a lot them had absolutely no idea until they got off the strain and learned this information, and we wanted to learn how other cities handle these types of situations and alert passengers on their Public Transportation systems and well have that for you coming up in 30 minutes. They told us the train was built around 1970 and rebuilt in 1985. But despite its age, the mbta says some of the older cars are some of the most reliable of all the red lion cars.
