attacked in mansfield, the suspect allegedly coming at them with a knife. both the mom and the baby are ok. this is 27-year-old david brock, he's now charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. the mother called 911 from the balcony of their apartment and stayed there until police arrived. police took brock into custody at gunpoint. according to mansfield police department, the suspect lives in the same apartment as the victim. >> mark: tonight, an 18-year-old is accused of raping a classmate after she was spotted stumbling shoes. right now, the teen is behind bars. fox 25 news's christine mccarthy is live in framingham where the teen's friends and family are >> >> the reporter: well, mark the details we heard in court are simply horrific, but this teenaged suspect claims that he did not commit a crime and his family was in court to back him up. >> >> the reporter: 18-year-old patrick courier is arraigned, accused of raping a fellow student in the woods behind framingham high school. >> witness indicated the defendant looked like she was getting raped. >> the reporter: counselors had realized the 17-year-old's girl was missing from class before police found her partially naked and disoriented in a swamp >> appeared to be incoherent, intoxicated, they were able to get out from her that she indicated she did have sex, but that it was some consensual. >> the reporter: cower disputes the statements of the alleged victim and the two witnesses and claims it was consensual and says the alleged victim was on drugs and alcohol. >> she stated that she doesn't remember the incident at all. >> the reporter: cower was held on $50,000 bail, based on his juvenile record, including warrants and probation violations. cower's attorney said he had signed himself into a group home for help getting his life back on track. >> family members of the suspect asked not to be identified but spoke to fox 25 outside court. >> he's getting charged with some stuff, that he shouldn't be getting charged with. >> they say it must be a misunderstanding, because cower horrific crime. everybody. and he just -- he doesn't deserve this. he deserves better. now the judge ordered cower to stay away from the alleged victim, as well as both of those witnesses and away from altogether. he will appear again in court in december 7. we're live in framingham tonight, christine mccarthy, fox 25 news. >> mark: new developments tonight in the deadly crash of a hampshire. that plane went down in new york city last night. the ntsb is still working to recover all of the plane. it is registered to james mcgee of rye, new hampshire. but the victim has not been identified. it crashed in breezy point new york around 8:00 p.m. last night, just south of queens. investigators specifically looking for the engine, but don't know if it is with the wreckage. the first official report on the crash won't be ready for about two weeks. >> the reporter: these airplanes don't technically have flight data recorders. they might have some memory devices on them, some g.p.s.'s, unfortunately, i don't know that just yet. >> mark: the ntsb says it appears no one else was on board. pay cord to go flight records, hampshire from philadelphia. >> elizabeth: the search is still on for an elderly woman who went missing nearly two weeks ago in lowell. sky fox overhead captured k-9 units and an air wing combing the area around 67-year-old elga crespo's apartment area. now, elga's family said she would often walk back-and-forth in back of her home for exercise and was doing that when she disappeared. >> mark: a luxury car up in flames. dover police say surveillance video shot earlier this week, shows someone walk up to the audi a3 and set it on fire around 11:30 p.m. monday night at the lilac garden apartments. if you know anything about this, call police. >> elizabeth: a former pepperell police officer is accused of strangling an intoxicated woman at the police station. 53-year-old armando her ra was arraigned on several charges for the incident that high-speed in september. that woman was placed into custody and brought to the police station because of her alleged intoxication. she was placed in a cell and apparently started yelling. that's when herra allegedly went into the cell and started to strangle her. herra this never happens in november. you have a short memory. last year on this date it was 66 degrees still well above average average, we were probably sailing the same thing at this time last year. boy it's warm outside. the last of the showers pushing off of chatham right in there, but also off of troy too and these are the places the showers are likely to reoccur later on tonight. so the clouds, they'll be around, to the south, there's also shower threat alone the keys and the island. the meteor shower continues overnight but really with all the clouds we have, less of a chance we'll see some. not impossible, just not the best viewing for us tonight. there are more breaks in the clouds through the morning to the north. so the south, cloudiest and a couple of showers along the south coast, likely into the morning drive. up and through lunchtime tomorrow. they are light, not a big deal, but there are more showers heading our way later on in the day, just as we're getting our sharman? >> the reporter: it is quiet out here in front of the state house now, but we can tell you a couple of hours ago, bernie sanders, basically, energized a huge crowd out here. he told me he ought to win the nomination, because he says, he's the best person to go up against donald trump and the republican. outside the new hampshire state house in concord, a cheering crowd greets vermont senator bernie sanders. moments before inside, he filed to officially get on the new hampshire ballot. it's when i asked him why he thinks he has a shot at the democratic nomination. >> you've been known to draw a lot of big crowds, but there is some question about electability. why do you think you can beat hillary clinton? >> well, let me start off, it's a fair question, and talk about electability. >> in short, sanders tells me, he believes he's better positioned than hillary clinton to beat the republicans. >> when you look at bernie sanders against somebody like donald trump, or against other republican candidates, more often than not, not always, but more often than not, i do better than secretary clinton does. >> sanders is the lodgest serving independent in congress. he senator marco rubio, whose poll numbers are seeing a surge in the state. just yesterday, donald trump criticized rubio's finances, but today, rubio pushed back on that. >> i find it ironic that the only person running for president that's ever declared a bankruptcy four times in the last 25 years is attacking anyone on finances. >> and next week, hillary clinton is expected to come here to the but both are getting secret service details. republicans donald trump and ben carson are the first presidential candidates this year to get help from the agency. in order to get secret service details, the candidates poll numbers have to be good and they have to be getting a lot donations. they also have to have been getting some threats. senator elizabeth warren is hoping to secure big boost for everyone receiving social security. warren wants a one time emergency payment of 3.9%, 70 million americans who get social security benefits. it's a long shot proposal. that payment is meant to make up for the next year's lack of cost of living adjustment. >> mark: company hoping to build a casino in brockton is meeting with the state gaming commission. leaders of mass gaming and entertainment and the mayor of brockton were expected to address the commission today on plans for a new casino. the company is applying for the state's final casino license. it want to build a $700 million resort at the brockton fairgrounds. tonight, a lot of patriots fans are already looking ahead to the november 29th matchup against peyton manning and the that's one of the last thing on the pats minds especially the head coach, bill belichick. >> you can't put the horse before the cart. the next game is always the biggest game and bill belichick's greatness is his ability to get his players to buy in and believe that specifically, that teams like sunday's opponent, the 3-4 redskins are a threat, which they aren't. but washington is doing the same, killing the patriots with denise robert was gunned down. >> mark: fox 25's bob ward is here to show us the high tech tools they used in their search. >> it's been more than two months since denise robert was killed. the 62-year-old was found shot to death on august 30th, and now, this first week of november, her murder still remains unsolved. today, sky fox was above manchester, new hampshire, agents arrived at about 7:00 a.m. this morning, and at around 8:00 a.m., they began searching the grounds of homes within a block of where robert was found. several streets were shut down, so they could do this work. f.b.i. agents using metal detectors, trying to find clues, they searched the grounds, they searched trees, they even ran a metal detector over a stone wall, looking for something, anything that could help solve this brutal crime. denise robert was a longtime advertising rep, she was one of 11 siblings, and she thought her old neighborhood was safe and it was, until that august night when she was mysteriously gunned down on her weekly evening walk. well, today, neighbors gathered to watch the agents at work, this man saying, the scene looked like the set of a movie or of a tv crime show. >> i'm surprised that it's sort of resurfacing with the intensity that it is and the level that it is. again, you just wonder, what's driving this case. >> well, right now, there's a $42,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. i'm bob ward, fox 25 news. >> elizabeth: for the first time, since a lengthy mental evaluation, jury selection resumed in the trial of an accused teen killer. on wednesday, fox 25 reported that phillip chisholm was deemed competent to stand trial. today, prosecutors and the defense again tried to select the people who will decide his fate. in 2013, chisholm allegedly raped and murdered colleen ritzer, at danvers high school. opening statements could begin in the coming weeks. >> mark: watertown police have arrested a man for allegedly texting obscene pictures to a teenage boy, joseph doucette of waltham, faces charges for sending obscene matter to a minor and enticement of a child. police say doucette sent obscene pictures of a 15-year-old boy from watertown. >> kevin: tracking a couple of showers. coming through southern new england, but just about all offshore. looks like they are all offshore. look closely hat that's. they moved out of chatham, now nothing happening on the islands. there may be sprinkles, even more organized showers later on tonight, but it will be confined to the south coast of new england and out there in those islands as well and they're all circling around from the south, just like we were talking about last night and cushing towards southern new england, but not making it farther north. at least not yet. there will be showers tomorrow that will make it into the boston area, but not these. this is first thing in the morning, really literally first thing, just after midnight. showers coming across the south coastal areas, it will push us into the morning drive time vineyard getting any showers that come across. morning, couple sprinkles may pop up farther north and few and far between. hardly any chance of any rain making it into boston. to the west, we look for breaks in the clouds to start to appear in the afternoon. when we get our max heating. now remember the sun is going down, close to 4:30 p.m. and we need to get the sun out early any to get the heating up there to get the records tomorrow. good shot at hitting the records for boston and worcester tomorrow afternoon. always warmest ahead of the cold front, as long as you get the sun to pop out, it was very warm today. the cold front brings the showers into boston and worcester, between 6 and 7 and to the south shore, out of boston by 8:00 p.m. and sinking southward. the front wants to stall right here and that plays a mart in our weekend forecast, because as long as it stays there, we'll keep the clouds in the forecast and potential for a shower for you on cape cod and the south coast so the shower threat is mostly along the south coast, cape cod and the islands overnight. temperatures staying very close to 60 degrees in hyannis, upper 50's to about 60 degrees most places on cape cod and the in boston, close to 60 degrees as well. very low risk of the shower popping up. i might even take that out of there. i want to demonstrate there is a risk as small as it is for the boston area and worcester, no chance for rain, staying cloudy with temperatures dropping into the upper 50's overnight. as far as high temperatures tomorrow, it is going to be a mild day to be sure. upper 60's to low 70's on the south shore, with the winds coming in from the southwest, into our area, into the low and mid 70's north shore, back here through southern massachusetts, and into northern portions of massachusetts, northern middlesex county. out to worcester county, elevation will keep you cooler, but still upper 60's to low 70's for you. we'll n chasing the records for sure at the worcester airport and at logan, which are the official reporting stations for such things. a lot of clouds hanging around on saturday, because that front is stalled just to our south, that's the part it's playing in the forecast for your weekend. more sun the farther north and west you go and i nasal spray forward this in to sunday morning, you see the green that shows up here, winds are blowing from the northwest and i think futurecast is trying to tell us the potential for ocean effect showers hitting cape cod. of course, temperatures getting chilly by then. it will stay just mild enough they wouldn't be snowflakes, but we'll watch that. this is your seven-day forecast, your weekend always in vie. 76 is what i'm forecast for tomorrow. the record for boston stands at 73, set in 1959, i think we get it and worcester is 70, set in 1978. real good shot at both of those and much cooler this weekend. >> the very seriously considering the possibility that a bomb brought it down. >> elizabeth: u.s. and u.k. investigators suggest it is very possible that isis is behind this crash. it killed all 224 people on board. but as mary maloney reveals, russian and egyptian officials say there's zero evidence of that. >> the reporter: british prime minister david cameron says it is more likely than not that a bomb brought down that metro jet flight, killing all 224 people on board. but russian and egyptian officials warn against rushing to judgment. that's not surprising, according to u.s. intelligence officials. >> clearly, the russians don't want to give into the fact yet that there may have been a bomb planted on an airplane, and that they're going to hold on to that as long as they possibly can until they get a level of certainty and same with egypt. they don't want people to stop flying into places like sharm el-sheik. >> the reporter: u.s. officials say the crash could be the work of isis, wanting to so call chatter detected from isis members in the sinai peninsula after the crash. and an intelligence report that the terror group may have had an insider work are at the sharm el-sheik airport, able to help them get explosive device on board the plane. an official tells cnn the sharm el-sheik airport is known for having lax security, something the white house is examining. >> the obama administration is reviewing a number of different steps that we can take to enhance security for commercial flights bound for the united states. >> the reporter: but president secretary josh earnest stopped short of saying what those steps might be. several european nations have stopped flights in and out of the popular vacation spot, britain is sending empty commercial jets to bring station unique is the price tag itself. the department of defense built the compressed natural gas station to residents in the area but it costs more than $800 per vehicle to convert cars to natural everyone who reached out to support him after he was stabbed on halloween night. everett high school quarterback marvens fedna was at a halloween party and heard someone scream for help while walking home and he immediately responded and that's when he said someone attacked him. the attack happened hours after his team won a big playoff team. fedna was in the hospital in critical condition, but tells fox 25 news the victim is a woman and right now figure out how her body got there and whether she died before or after that fire started. stephanie quinu is in worcester tonight and reports that people who live in that area say they've seen trouble like this before. >> because it area is just so remote, it's become a very popular place for illegal dumping, so much so, police have now posted warning signs throughout the neighborhood, right here next to me, this is where worcester police found a car burning last night. under video surveillance, signs like this one, posted by worcester police, warn people, they're being watched. residents told us, because this area is so remote, people have been coming here for years. >> people take their cars there to burn them. >> police have not responded to our questions, whether last night's incident was caught on camera. police and fire first arrived to this area off swan drive around 10:30 p.m. last night. this car on fire, a body found inside. crime scene investigators spent hours combing the area for evidence. >> it's out of the norm, but the way society is getting now hey days, you know, -- nowadays, you know, you expect anything. >> mark did he lieu car engulfed lives down the street. he told us he didn't hear or see anything suspicious last night, but said this area is just that isolated. >> heard nothing, and you know, i wouldn't expect it. >> police questioned neighbors, asking whether they saw a car or people in this area last night. residents told us what's happened is upsetting, but doesn't make them feel any less safe. >> it's so secluded. i think places like this, you know, stuff like this can happen. i don't, you know, but as far as crime within the neighborhood, i don't think there's any stuff here. coming back, you can see the charred debris, what's left of the car after it was towed away. police towed that car away just about two and a half hours ago and they told me they will test it for further evidence. in worcester, stephanie quinu, fox 25 news. >> elizabeth: the mystery surrounding the discovery of a burned body in bridgewater remains just that. the woman still has not been identified. her body was found tuesday night burned on the railroad tracks near oak and cripo streets. the victim's hands and feet were tied. the search is on for a man who tried to light a house on fire while the homeowners were inside on round pond drive in falmouth. new at 6:00 p.m., fox 25 news's robert goulston is there and shows us what the suspect did to avoid being caught on camera by the homeowners surveillance camera. the homeowner telling us and he his wife heard someone outside and that's when he went outside to investigate and he saw a man lighting his siding on fire and went outside to stop him. the shots echoed out throughout the quiet neighborhood. >> just a couple of gunshots and i saw people walking around with flashlights. >> the people with flashlights were police officers responding minutes after the shots were fired. the homeowner heard someone breaking into his east falmouth home before 3:00 a.m. this morning when he came out, he saw the man running off and a small fire burning on the siding of his house. the homeowner telling us off cameras, he fired two shots and missed. after the victim's wife put the fire out with a garden hose, he started looking around and noticed the brake lines to one of their cars was cut. the homeowner also telling us the front door was wedged shut, so he and his wife would not have been able to get out that way. apparently he's been having a problem with someone he knows, but told police he wasn't able to definitively id him and police say the suspect ran off on foot and jumped into a car. neighbors say this is a first for anything like this. >> it's pretty scary, but i'm sure they'll figure out what happened. >> nothing goes on in this neighborhood. >> the reporter: the homeowner telling us today he also found all of his surveillance cameras pushed up, so apparently, the person knew where these cameras were positioned. in falmouth, robert goulston, fox 25 news. >> elizabeth: a funeral today for the medway teen killed in a car crash. 17-year-old mattie lofton died last week. and an impressive athlete. nearly a thousand people attended a vigil for her over the weekend. >> mark: tonight, police sent mark cruisers and undercover back at the scene where a woman was hit and killed. that woman was trying to cross a busy street in boston's south end and now residents are demanding more be done to keep them safe. blair miller who is there tonight. >> those questions mainly from police tonight, as they had officers in plainclothes here at the scene, 24 hours later, to see the conditions on tremont street. the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. yesterday, two women crossing the street in the crosswalk. one woman in her 70's hit and killed. the other still in the hospital. it happened right in front of where steve garrity has lift for 20 years. -- lived for 20 years. >> not really surprised. >> not surprised he says because of how fast the cars go on this busy street in the south end. >> that's the biggest problem. it's not the crosswalk it's the speeding issue, between the light at daria mouth and the light here -- dartmouth and the light here, people are going about 45 miles per hour easy. >> the speed limit here is 30. we watched as several people carefully made their way across tremont today, a popular road for pedestrians. officers also spent the morning here, writing tickets to drivers block the crosswalks and not stopping for people trying to cross. residents here glad to see it, but say, more permanent fixes need to be made. >> my concern is they used to have a sign that would say $200 fine. they don't have that anymore. so solid defense people just speed, you -- so some people just speed. >> some question if the sunshine at the time of the crash yesterday possibly blocked the drive's view. >> i think conceivably, but then, one should be going not so fast, if the sun is directly in your eye. >> the reporter: we've also been here. it's not clear if she lived here in the south end area or not. police told me late today, it's likely that information won't come out today, and it's not clear what will happen to the driver who hit those two women. we are in south end tonight, blair miller, fox 25 news. >> mark: police trying to figure out what caused a man to gun down his girlfriend, her sister and another man before killing himself in the rural town of oakland maine. the shooting happened at the apartment the four were sharing. police identified the shooter as herman derico. the only certificate viewer was a three-year-old little girl now in the care of her grandmother. >> elizabeth: the department of children and families is trying too hard to keep families together and it's putting children in danger. that's according to a new report from the pioneer talked about this last night, that circulation offshore is clockwise, curling the showers toward southern new england. we've seen some around the area today on the south coast, cape cod and the islands. more showers to our west, that's a cold front pushing our way, so we need to talk about that as part of our forecast. ist going to be here by tomorrow evening. let talk about futurecast for tomorrow first of all. temperatures overnight are going to be dropping only into the 50's for lows, and there will be clouds, mostly to the south, and some more showers circling on in. we're seeing them on the coast of connecticut right now, on the coast of massachusetts, 11:00 p.m. tonight with i'm talking to you, we'll be tracking these showers. coming across. they don't make their way much to the north. there will be a couple sprinkles on the south shore tomorrow but really the shower threat is on the south coast, cape cod and the islands through the morning drive and friday by 10:00 a.m., showers down in here. we'll take this through lunchtime, a couple of sprinkles, futurecast is showing up on the south shore. not many, if any will make it that far north and during the evening, breaks of sun before the sun goes down, 4:30 p.m.-ish and this cold front through southern vermont, western massachusetts, makes its way toward worcester and boston and the showers really start to shrivel up. two facets to the front. it settles on the south coast and the showers continue to pop up, right into saturday and that's where the most clouds will be as well. more sun, the farther north and west you go on saturday. temperatures are going to be cool, overnight tonight, but they'll be on par with average high temperatures, but this is amazing stuff, so temperatures right now 68 lawrence, but look what happens in boston with the 68-degree temperature, a lot of clouds around, drop down to 61 degrees and at night without the sun, that feels cool but that's really mild for a november night. the highest risk for any showers on cape cod, in hyannis, and there are the risks of showers, there are showers icons with temperatures hanging on to the low 60's overnight tonight. so, here's what we're dealing with. 55 degrees on average tonight with a lot of clouds around, the highest risk of showers to the south, but tomorrow afternoon, 76 is my forecast for boston. assuming we get breaks of sun. the record for the date is 73 degrees, so we would break a record set in 1959. on average, temperatures around 70 degrees, a few towns getting a little warmer, like i do believe boston will get with a strong southwesterly push. on futurecast, breaks in the clouds too. that continues in to saturday with sunshine coming up on saturday, mixing in with clouds once again and on sunday, a lot of sunshine and cooler, only 53 degrees for a high temperature on sunday. kickoff at gillette stadium is 1:00 p.m. sunshine, 48 degrees, just a little bit of a breeze. >> that's what i'm talking
