were seized this morning, but they're now getting the care they truly need. they are the faces of cats, young and old, seized from this home on ever guard street in worcester. 28 of them found dirty, soaked in urine and feces, but now here. at the worcester animal rescue league, some with pink eye, others, just in visible shock. >> the cats look like they're in fair condition. there were some that were urine soaked. i heard reports of the apartment being deplorable with feces and trash and who knows. >> officials say the cats were seized because the woman in her 70's was being evicted. neighbors reported a strong smell outside the home, over the last few days. >> overwhelming number. >> paul lives next door, and says there were simply too many this neighborhood. >> why don't people take care of them. if you're going to have a pet, treat it like a member of the family. >> the reporter: ears here knew there were some cats but were surprised how many. >> i had no idea what was going on. i had no idea that there were that many cats. the cats are currently being checked to make sure they're healthy and if not, they're getting the vet care they need immediately. >> they need tried to rob the leader bank in central square. if you can identify him, give police a call and police in worcester are searching for four robbery suspects after a clerk was threatened with a knife. deported here in massachusetts. as bob ward learned, some have returned and are now being charged with committing violent crimes. >> the reporter: it was a shocking death. riviera, a 41-year-old grandmother, shot dead in her lawrence apartment while she slept. the fatal bullet was fired from the upstairs apartment. it went down through the ceiling and struck this woman in her >> i can't believe that my mom is gone. i'm going to miss my mom. she was the only one i had left as a parent. >> the reporter: two of the three men in that upstairs apartment were undocumented immigrants who had previously been deported. >> clearly, something is wrong if our immigration enforcement system to allow this to happen. >> the reporter: jessica of the center for immigration studies tells us this revolving door of deportees charged with crimes, is happening at an alarming rate. >> 60% of the people who committed aggravated felonies, that i have been supporting, were deported once before. before. before. ice should be focused on people who keep coming back. >> the reporter: the director of the massachusetts immigrant and advocacy coalition program says the number of crimes committed by undocumented immigrants here in massachusetts has decreased. >> in our opinion, that's not an massachusetts. the numbers of crimes being committed have decreased and i don't think that, you know, immigrants are the issue. >> the reporter: i'm bob ward, fox 25 news. >> mark: so how many returned deportees have come back and are charged with crimes in massachusetts. fox 25 investigates, digs into those numbers and looks at what's being done to enforce federal immigration laws in our cities and towns. that's tonight on the fox 25 news at 10:00 p.m. >> the reporter: as a forecast, you're going to like for early november. don't expect this to last though. there are some clouds out there, the thin variety in boston, thicker the farther south you go and they've been attached to a storm system going by to our south, talking about us missing it just south. some of the computer models had it coming our way, but we forecast it to stay south and it's behaving. honestly, this one is not going to be a factor for us. we're going to have clearing skies from this point on. any clouds overhead going away, temperatures dropping to the 50's in boston, that becomes clear and winds become very light, if they're not already in your town. in and around the area, boston is at 57 degrees. winds are light, only 5 miles per hour, going down to 48 degrees and clear by 6:00 a.m. in the morning. then checking out worcester, it is 55 degrees right now and your temperature dropping down to 43 by 5:00 p.m. dropping from the 50's into the 40's into worcester. hyannis, temperatures dropping through the 50's and into the 40's by the early morning hours and 47 first thing in the morning, so temperatures are going to drop, of course, as they always do, but mostly off to the north and west, that's where you have upper and mid 30's, keene to brattleboro. nashua an southern new hampshire, right at the shoreline, temperatures staying in the 40's, even a 51 degrees out at nantucket. not out of the question to stay close to 50 degrees in the islands. that's what water temperatures are after all, even on a clear night like this. futurecast shows we're staying clear, 6:30 russian lords. >> flight 9268 was headed to st. petersburg from an egyptian resort in the sinai peninsula, which shattered in the air about 20 minutes after takeoff. no distress calls were received case before the u.s. supreme court today. at issue, how prosecutors picked an all white jury. timothy foster confessed to murdering a 79-year-old woman in rome, georgia, and was sentenced to death, but with selecting an all white jury for the trial, prosecutors allegedly singled out african-american jurors for removal, by highlighting them in green and marking them with the letter b. >> so it's clear that the blacks were singled out, they were treated apart from the white jurors and they were prioritized more striking. >> the reporter: the supreme court has ruled using race in jury selection is unconstitutional. foster's attorneys are now seeking a new trial. it could be several months before the justices rule. a new report out claims that disabled workers were overpaid $11 billion in the past nine years. the government accountability office reports that money went to people who earned too much to qualify for disability or those who had already returned to work. social security was able to recover some of that money but more than a billion dollars was lost and it was found to be the agency's fault. >> complete mismanagement. i mean, nobody is watch how the money is going out. no one is really, quote unquote, responsible for the errors. no one gets fired, there are no consequences. >> joy: in an email, social security officials say the overpayments represent a very small percentage of the total payments made each other. auditors recommended automated reporting to reduce overpayment. and better oversight of work reports and waivers. people on commercial flight within the u.s. are no longer allowed to put e-cigarettes inside checked bags. now you can still have the devices inside a carry-on, but passengers will not be allowed to charge the devices in flight. there like that is just, you know, it kills you. >> we tried to speak with fedna's family, but we're told at this time. we also left several messages for the school's superintendent, principal and everett's gloucester, police say the mother of a man who died of a heroin overdose turned in two of drugs that killed him. >> mark: bob ward spoke to gloucester's police chief and he said this is part of the effort of getting the hard drugs off the north shore. >> the reporter: the town of gloucester is known for fish, but it is also struggling with the wave of opioid addiction, flooding other communities. gloucester is fighting the tide by offering treatment, not incarceration to addicts, it's called the angel program, which yielded the arrest of two 302-year-old drug dealers from lynn, william piazza and eugenio eugenio. the mother said these two men sold her son the heroin that killed him. >> we were able to build a case, an undercover sting operation in which they drove to gloucester and delivered heroin to one of our police officers. police chief leonard campanello says he hopes this sends a strong message to other drug dealers. gloucester's angel program has embattled secretary been in effect for five months and already, 281 addicts have walked through the front doors of the police station,ing asking for help. they haven't been arrested. instead, they've been sent into treatment. gloucester's police chief tells me he hopes that's a sign that what he's doing here in this town is working. in gloucester bob ward, fox 25 news. >> we continue to follow breaking news in hopkinton. someone was giving out suspicious items to children on halloween and just in to our newsroom, this is a photo of that item. two separate parents said their children were given a toilet bowl product. the parents found discs of poison in white wrapping while inspecting the candy. both children did not eat it. they were trick-or-treating in downtown hopkinton. ted daniel is on this story and he'll have any new developments as we get them. >> mark: push tonight to make a local intersection safer after a deadly crash that killed a mother and baby. the telegram and "gazette" is reporting that state and local leaders met to discuss the ways to reduce dangers to drivers. christina russen and her son died in a head-on crash. one proposal is to speed up marie construction project that wasn't scheduled for ten more years. a danvers family losing their home in a fire. flames broke out early sunday morning at a complex on williams street. everyone was able to get out safely, but firefighters later found the two dogs dead inside the gutted home. fire officials are working to figure out how the fire started. >> joy: quincy police say a weymouth woman was under the influence of drugs when she slammed into an unmarked cruiser at the intersection of quincy shore drive and squato road on saturday morning. the damage to the rear of the cruiser was significant and the detective inside had to be taken 30 now-year-old maria rolldon was arrested on drug possession and driving under the influence. police are searching for a gray toyota, it's wanted for a hit-and-run, involving a 1962 mercedes-benz. the corolla will have damage to the passenger side rear bumper. that crash happened last night on mass avenue around 7:20 p.m. call foxborough police in you've seen the car. firefighters rushing to save elderly residents in south boston, thanks to an improperly disposed of cigarette. fire started just before 5:00 p.m. last night at the building on l street. flames were contained to a fourth floor apartment. two people were taken to the hospital and a firefighter was treated for a cut to the hand. >> mark: there's holiday music on the radio and it clear up this confusion minutes right he >> mark: more health concerns tonight for high school athletes. a new report says the number of head injuries is rising at an alarming rate. according to the boston herald, 14,000 sports related head injuries were reported in the 2014 school year. that's up 25% since 2013 across all sports. and the amount of teams playing high school sports is also reportedly fallen because of injury fears. in boston, public schools, football enrollment has seen a drop in the 2009 to 2010 school year, 493 students were involved in the program and in the 2014- 2014-2015 year that number dropped to 234. risk for children in rear facing car seats. infant dummy ies showed head injuries with rear facing seats. the study's author says the results only conclude to technology at very young ages. according to a study in the journal of pediatrics, 97% of children start using such devices before their first birthdays. 20% of 1-year-olds own a tablet and 28
