Jacqui heinrich standing by live for us tonight. Jaqui, investigators say the accident may have been caught on camera. Woburn Police Pulling camera footage from several buildings in the the area. They say they may have captured that crash. The video footage could help determine whether the driver should face charges. Right now police saying this just looks like a tragic accident. The man involved, he was 71 years old, was crossing the street with a 67yearold female trying to catch the bus right in front of city hall. They were in the crosswalk when the truck hit them around 7 00 p. M. Police say theyre both from boston and in the area visiting them. Right now theyre both in Critical Condition with lifethreatening injuries. We asked if the street was a problem area or known to be risky. The police chief said generally its not. Ive been here 36 years and not that im aware of. Its a very busy street. Heavily traveled. The driver of that truck did stay on scene and cooperate with the investigation. Fox 25 investigates exclusive, a Framingham Police detective claims he became the target of the town at his own department after he looked at cases of corruption involving fellow officers. Ted daniel has been pouring through the lawsuit we obtained all night and ted, the. Mark, there are four officers on paid leave right now. This lawsuit was filed by one of the suspended officers. In it he claims corruption and retaliation. Reporter more trouble for the Framingham Police department and it comes in the form of a new federal lawsuit filed by narcotics detective matthew gutwell. A 12year vet the 25page complaint obtained exclusively by fox 25 investigates named the town and police chief ken fergeson. Seth robbins is gutwells attorney. What he viewed as corrupt conduct he said something, and now hes paying the price. This complaint was filed in federal court to seek justice and nothing more. Reporter gutwell claims he first became a target when he accused a fellow devin of making false statements on the stand worse when he took a number of other blistering accusations to the fbi. Accord to the federal lawsuit, gutwell told federal agents that his fellow officers let confidential informants by drugs for their own use after making undercover buys, took momentos from crime scenes, which they hung in their offices as decorations, and he claimed multiple sergeants were double dipping, especially banking regular duty pay while working a detail at th gutwells attorney calls him a whistleblower and claims the department suspended him to silence him. Despite representations that retaliation against him would not be tolerated, shortly thereafter thats precisely what happened. And the framingham town manager tells fox 25 the gutwells lawsuit lacks fat, adding the town conducted an extensive independent investigation of three gutwell, and in each of the cases found that there was no validity to the allegations, and in fact in several instances, found that detective gutwell was untruthful. Gutwell previously worked as a Police Officer in ashland. He also sued that department. The case was settled and gutwell walked away with an undisclosed sum.
