Another pedestrian hit this evening, this time in quincy. Around 9 30, a car hit a black male on washington street right outside of wild willies burgers. He was sent to South Shore Hospital with serious head injuries. Police say they are not life threatening. No word yet on the driver but the car did stop at the scene. Well continue to follow updates for you right here on fox 25. Also developing tonight, the past 45 minutes we received new information about a deadly crash in west roxbury. State police tell us that a 44yearold dedham man was killed when near the entrance of the stonybrook reservation. The passenger was seriously hurt, and has been taken to brigham and womens hospital. Strong storms hitting the region this afternoon, knocking over this tree in holden and causing drivers to have to make their way carefully through flooded streets. The threat continues tonight. The storm threat continues into the earlymorning hours ill tell you when it gets on out of here, straight ahead. A bullet rips through the house of an 81yearold woman. Ted daniel went to lowell to see the damage for himself. Ted, the bullet ended up just feet from that womans bed. Vanessa and mark. The elderly woman and her little dog were sleeping when the bullet hit a call just four feet from them. This shooting, one of four to happen recently in this city. Reporter she has seen a lot in her 81 years but this is a first. The lowell homeowner agreed to speak with us as long as we didnt show her face or use her name. It was around 4 00 in the morning sleeping in the bedroom woke her and her dog. It was very loud, thats why i thought it was fireworks. I thought it was just going off at the window. Reporter what she thought was fireworks turned out to be a bullet take a look. It went through a window screen, grazed the sill and to through a wall just feet from the bed. I said, this is a bullet. And he says, yes, it was. I thank god she wasnt getting up to goo the bathroom or thirsty or anything because anything could happen at that moment. Police are investigating gunfire at this house and several others just two days prior in the early hours of saturday morning, three homes were struck with bullets including this one on fort hill avenue. I dont want it to happen again and im sure it wont if the crazy people stay home. And that woman you just heard, police check with her neighbors, police did canvas the neighborhood but nobody saw where the bullet came from. News. New at 11 00, a husband and wife come home to find a burglar in her house. The suspect in seaconk assaulted the husband and threatened the wife with a knife before taking off. He jumped into a getaway car and followed a traffic stop and police chase. Both men were arrested. Police tell us the husband was not seriously hurt. New tonight, the trial begins in the 2014 murder of a worcester roaming house Maintenance Worker. A video showed in court today shows a struggle between security guard, and 52yearold lloyd worcester, the Maintenance Worker at the albian rooming house back in january 2014. After the struggle you see pen grab a gun. Pen claimed he acted in selfdefense. His 911 call was also played in court today. He told a dispatcher, quote, i just shot somebody who attacked me. Family and friends said goodbye today to the woman killed while out for a run near her mothers house in princeton was held in the same church in leominster where she was baptized 27 years ago. The mayor was a close friend of the family and say they are finding comfort and focusing on the life vanessa lived, rather than how she died. Vanessa was buried in nearby westminster. Her body was burned, she may have been sexually assaulted. Investigators are working around the clock in this case, working many angles and my sources tell me investigators are now taking a hard look at registered sex offenders living in the area. The massachusetts sex offender offenders living in princeton. But when i widen my church to cities and towns immediately surrounding princeton, i find 417 registered sex offenders. Its disturbing. Convicted killer Aaron Hernandez is set to go on trial in february for the 2012 murder of two men in boston. The former patriots star appeared for a Court Hearing today where the judge set the date. Massachusetts Health Officials are confirming a Middlesex County woman is the first person in the state to contract west nile virus this year. The department of Public Health says shes in her 70s and at the hospital while officials work to determine where she was exposed to the infected mosquitoes. This is the peak season in massachusetts for possible west nile virus in humans. 10 occasions were reported last Boston Police will tell 100 officers tomorrow theyve been chosen to take part in the citys body camera pilot program. The city and unions struck a deal earlier this summer, but no officers signed up. So officials decided to randomly assign them.
