who escaped a southern california jail. this morning, we're learning more about just how dangerous they really area. one of the three is accused of attacking a man, pourching bleach on him, and then tourting him with a blow torch. paul vercammen has the latest. the bounty on the heads of three extremely violent jail breakers.. jumped 50-thousand for each fugitive.. orange county supervisors raised the reward to 200-thousand dollars total.the prosecutor handling the terrifying torture case of escapee hossein nayeri wonders why this ex-con with a history of escape and his fellow fugitives with gang affiliations were not somehow isolated."i'm not in charge of the jail and i don't wanna second guess what they do. but it's disconcerting to learn that they were with all these other you know hardened criminals who could collaborate and conspire to escape."but the orange county district attorney chastised his deputy in a statement... saying her comments were, quote, "inappropriate, uninformed and rash" and "do not reflect the position of the o-c-d-a.""i will say that men's jail which is a maximum security jail. there's many other inmates with very similar charges to nayeri. so, there's a very sophisticated classification system that every inmate that comes into the jail goes through. he met the criteria to be housed in that particular location." little clues keep trickling out about how the trio escaped last week.authorities say clothing may be intertwined with linens in their makeshift ropes.the three apparently cut through steel bars, made their way through plumbing tunnels and rappelled off a roof.and perhaps a big clue as to why nayeri, jonathan tieu and bac tien duong escaped:they all faced long sentences, potentially the rest of their lives in jail."whenthey get out onto the street there's obviously some desperation that they will lean on. and as far as where they'll go or what means they will go to to evade law enforcement. and it was evident by their attempt and eventual success to escape."cnn has learned that duong was almost sent out of the country back to his native vietnam.immigration and customs officials say a judge ordered him removed for news. in bedford county - firefighters scrambled to an ice rescue on tuesday afternoon near moneta. the victim - a cow - wandered onto a frozen pond and fell through the ice *near* spring lake stock yard - around 4 o'clock. firefighters in special suits used ropes and a tractor to get the cow out of the frigid water - alive. despite their best efforts - rescuers tell us - the cow didn't make it. workers at the stockyard say - the cow wandered away from a neighboring farm - and made it onto the pond - which is on a property line. local officials are warning drivers to be aware of icy road conditions overnight some roads may become slick and covered with black ice. virginia state police say black ice-- has caused many accidents - since the people cannot see the ice on the road. troopers are warning drivers to take it slow- especially during the morning commute. roanoke county parks, recreation and tourism recently released a draft concept of what explore park may look like in the future. before the final plan is presented to the board of supervisors in march, roanoke county wants to hear your feedback. wfxr's taylor included in this first draft and how you can get involved. good morning. last year, the roanoke county parks, an overwhelming amount of the response focused on the need for more physically active options in the area. the most common requests included hiking and biking trails, zip lines, and better access to the roanoke river for various water activities. those were all included in this first draft along with a number of other options such as reserved spots for camping. the final draft of this master plan is expected to be completed at the end of february, but officials say there's still time for the public to have their voice heard. well with this particular type of fluid process, we have the ability to make changes to the plan. that's why it is important we get the citizen feedback. we still have plenty of opportunities for them to what we want to focus on at explore park. if you would like to see the progress made in person or if you have any questions or comments on the master plan, roanoke county parks and rec will hold two open houses over the next week. the first one is tomorrow from 6 to 8 pm at the vinton war memorial. the second open house is at the south county library on tuesday, february 2nd from 6 to 8 pm. if you have a comment or question and can't make either of these meetings, you are welcome to call 540-387- 6078 or email explorepark@roano kecountyva.gov. if the board of supervisors accepts this plan, crews will begin phase one of the implementation of the plan which will focus on circulation through the park with vehicles, trails and better connection to the greenway. parks and rec officials say there will be about 8 - 10 phases all together that could take anywhere from 25 to 40 years to complete. reporting in roanoke county, taylor kanost a cat's nine lives are put to the test next. a cat caught in a storm drain for almost a week has been rescued. but only above and beyond the call of duty to do it! who escaped a southern california jail. this morning, we're learning more about just how dangerous they really area. one of the three is accused of attacking a man, pourching bleach on him, and then tourting him with a blow torch. paul vercammen has the latest. the bounty on the heads of three extremely violent jail breakers.. jumped 50-thousand for each fugitive.. orange county supervisors raised the reward to 200-thousand dollars total.the prosecutor handling the terrifying torture case of escapee hossein nayeri wonders why this ex-con with a history of escape and his fellow fugitives with gang affiliations were not somehow isolated."i'm not in charge of the jail and i don't wanna second guess what they do. but it's disconcerting to learn that they were with all these other you know hardened criminals who could collaborate and conspire to escape."but the orange county district attorney chastised his deputy in a statement... saying her comments were, quote, "inappropriate, uninformed and rash" and "do not reflect the position of the o-c-d-a.""i will say that men's jail which is a maximum security jail. there's many other inmates with very similar charges to nayeri. so, there's a very sophisticated classification system that every inmate that comes into the jail goes through. he met the criteria to be housed in that particular location." little clues keep trickling out about how the trio escaped last week.authorities say clothing may be intertwined with linens in their makeshift ropes.the three apparently cut through steel bars, made their way through plumbing roanoke county parks, recreation and tourism recently released a draft concept of what explore park may look like in the future. before the final plan is presented to the board of supervisors in march, roanoke county wants to hear your feedback. wfxr's taylor included in this first draft and how you can get involved. good morning. last year, the roanoke county parks, an overwhelming amount of the response focused on the need for more physically active options in the area. the most common requests included hiking and biking trails, zip lines, and better access to the roanoke river for various water activities. those were all included in this first draft along with a number of other options such as reserved spots for camping. the final draft of this master plan is expected to be completed at the end of february, but officials say there's still time for the public to have their voice heard. well with this particular type of fluid process, we have the ability to make changes to the plan. that's why it is important we get the citizen feedback. we still have plenty of opportunities for them to what we want to focus on at explore park. if you would like to see the progress made in person or if you have any questions or comments on the master plan, roanoke county parks and rec will hold two open houses over the next week. the first one is tomorrow from 6 to 8 pm at the vinton war memorial. the second open house is at the south county library on tuesday, february 2nd from 6 to 8 pm. if you have a comment or question and can't make either of these meetings, you are welcome to call 540-387- 6078 or email explorepark@roano kecountyva.gov. if the board of supervisors accepts this plan, crews will begin phase one of the implementation of the plan which will focus on circulation through the park with vehicles, trails and better connection to the greenway. parks and rec officials say there will be about 8 - 10 phases all together that could take anywhere from 25 to 40 years to complete. reporting in roanoke county, taylor kanost a cat's nine lives are put to the test next. a cat caught in a storm drain for almost a week has been rescued. but only above and beyond the call of duty to do it!
