Covering brevard county, were hearing the 911 call that Palm Bay Police got minutes before an officer shot and killed a man. Officers went to the home on meraposa drive yesterday when a man threatened to shoot some construction workers. Melanie holt listened to that 911 call and spent the day learning more about the suspect. It appears he had a background in Law Enforcement. Reporter among the online profiles we found for the suspect in this case was one for a business that he founded. Before his time here at this residence in palm bay he said he worked as a u. S. Army antiterrorism officer and had a job with v. A. Police Palm Bay Police still havent confirmed the name of the 38yearold killed in a deadly confrontation but the mans girlfriend said he was dimitri corcino. Security specialist and an army veteran with extensive military and Law Enforcement training. For the first time were also hearing the 911 call that brought police to the vets residence. He threatened to shoot us. He says, hes been out here all morning. The caller told police the man next door to her home seemed to be aggravated at the construction at her property. Workers were trying to stucco her house. He said he was going to shoot all of us. Call the cops he said. Call the cops, i dont care, ill shoot them too. He said that . Yep. The caller also said the man making the threats may have been drinking and there was something not quite right with him. Corcinos girlfriend, who asked not to be identified by name, wasnt home at the time of the shooting but told Eyewitness News corcino had Mental Health issues including schizophrenia and ptsd. Chance to save his life. I was robbed of this chance. Police say her boyfriend was shot once by Corporal Jason mccoy after the suspect exited handgun. Reporter right now a clean up appears to be underway at the home that corcino shared with he checked his criminal history and found arrests for resisting, disorderly intoxication and dui. A West Melbourne man is being held on no bond after he shot his daughters boyfriend and struck her with the butt of the gun. Felix vera faced a judge on attempted first degree murder charges following the attack yesterday morning. He told police he was in the process of evicting them when the boyfriend called him a name he shot him in the neck. Someone had to use a firearm in a family scuffle if thats what it turned out to be. Neighbors told us police have been to the home often. He has no prior criminal record. Supporters say ucfs proposal for a downtown campus could have a big impact on minority students. Fired Orlando Police William Escobar is still fighting to for violating four opd policies including writing false reports. Today the Orlando Police citizens review board accepted opds finding that officer escobar violated officer when he punched, drug and kicked efis holloway. The jury found escobar not guilty of battery and perjury but hes going to arbitration now to get his job back after the chief denied his appeal. State attorney jeff ashton said he welcomes an opponent in his race for 9th judicial circuit state attorney. Former state attorney general aleaa planned to run against ashton. Ashton took over back in the 2012 race. Today the u. S. Supreme court heard oral arguments in one of the biggest abortion cases in decades. They are considering whether a texas law that regulates abortion clinics right to obtain an abortion. The death of justice antione scalia could play a major role in the outcome. Hundreds of people crowded near the steps of the u. S. Supreme court on a cold and windy day in the capitol. Supporters of abortion rights and antiabortion groups. Protecting Abortion Access is about protecting fundamental liberties for all of us. We in the end would like to see abortion stopped. This is a great middle ground. This is a challenge to a texas law but more than a dozen other states also have similar legislation. The law requires hospitallike facilities and doctors with hospital privileges for an abortion and force threequarters of the clinics to close. The republican president ial hopeful will speak at the university of Central Florida on saturday. He will be met with hundreds of people speaking out against him. Kimberly eaton asked what ucf is doing to keep people safe. With a controversial taking center stage theres no telling what kind of crowd may be here on saturday. The republican front runner has a history of drawing controversy wherever he goes. Its official, republican front runner donald trump is coming to ucf. Im going to go after one person and thats Hillary Clinton. Coming off a super tuesday take over trump is going after democratic rival Hillary Clinton by going after Central Florida voters. He will rally at the arena saturday afternoon and just 24 hours after the Campaign Stop was announced protests were already banding together. Organizer and student kyra clark said shes expecting nearly 500 protests to join her. They want to show that they dont want trump in office and they want to protest that. The new york billionaire has drawn plenty of opponents with racially charged remarks on hes really racist towards other people who are just different than him. It seems like he just doesnt have any filter when it comes to other people. I asked ucf leaders if theres a plan in the works to make sure no protests turn dangerous. A spokesperson told Eyewitness News they are meeting to discuss security measures today but wouldnt go into detail. Clark said she intends to keep it peaceful.
