starts now. we start with breaking news. it is a beautiful day and it looks beautiful. but two hours ago we were seeing some haze and some smoke. people asking us what is going on? you can see there the wind is means anywhere sw. is way you will see the smoke or at least to be smelling the smoke. we are talking about temple terrace, all the way to south tampa is where we have been hearing reports of the smoke. again, we are starting to notice a bit of clearing. hopefully you won't see quite as much of it going forward. back to you. we want to update you on breaking news. police spending a lot of time at the high school threat earlier today. also a developing story, guns and dragged out of the hands of the bad guys. it took months of investigation but this is the police work that really makes a difference in preventing future crime. for more on that we have clifton french joining us. this is a really big win for law enforcement today. what else did they find? >> reporter: they issued a total of 65 warrants, arrested 51 people but 13th of these folks are still on the streets. several of these people career criminals. one woman has been in jail 50 times in the past. let's get to the video of what they got off of the streets. crack, ecstasy and pills. the sheriff focused on the most heavily hit here area which is in district one. that is of at the north tampa area. they went undercover, they made dozens of arrests with 183 total charges. of the guns, only five of them were reported stolen. so the atf is asking gun owners to also help out. they say simply get a piece of paper and right on your serial number so they can know if a gun has been stolen. it can also help with the investigation. reporting live in hillsborough county, clifton french. right now a man in jail accused of trying to set a deputies home on fire. it happened early this morning. daniel thomas was on a mission he left his home after getting into a fight with his sister. he saw a patrol car in the driveway, walked to the front door and knocked. the deputy answered with his gun, and his personal dog, he called for backup and the man was arrested after that. >> i know hei know he has a lot of mental disabilities. i don't understand why he did what he did but i hope he gets help. >> he is now facing two felony charges. catching up on headlines. remember the mother from bradington sitting in jail accused of torturing her daughter to death? today, the state saying they are not going to seek the death penalty in that case. you make have seen the article about the new roller coaster at busch time you go to the hospital computers are protecting your information and if one machine gets hacked to the hospital network could be at risk. >> typically it encrypts all of the files on your machine then you have to pay the money for the password to reverse it. there truly is -- it is difficult to go backwards from that. >> reporter: so what can hospitals do? this computer science professor especially because corporations are slow to approve changes from the top down. >> the defense is to keep machines up to date. keep an off-line backup because they know how people typically back up things and will encrypt the backup. >> reporter: and there is no guarantee that ran some money will stop them from doing it again. >> when your machine is infected it can do anything to it. so, encryption is certainly one of those things and stealing all the information is another of those things. >> we have learned to the hospital pay the hacker $17,000 in bit coin. lawmakers pushing the
