them in any sort of storm. right now i want to turn it over to ivan cabrera. ivan, you know, we are talking about the effects we are feeling -- we may be feeling here, but where are you seeing the storm right now? >> yeah, ashley, north of eastern cuba. the center of which, the eye is over water and has been the last self hours. hurricane hunters were talking emerged over water. we know that is where the things get their energy. despite the fact that cuba had an impact on the storm as far as intensity, now down to 115, a major hurricane, we are expect being it to ramp up. you see the thunderstorms wrap up around the center of the eye. the wave heights upwards of 30 feet. this will continue to go to the north and west. along with that -- those are waves. the storm surge the islands will get hit hard here because of how flat some of them are here. but they are much better prepared, the bahamas are than, say, haiti and eastern cuba. we are hoping for the best. this will be a big deal with 130 miles per hour winds. then the forecast, i must say, at the end of the forecast period here, this thing is going to go east and perhaps loop back. let's not talk about that. we will focus on what will begin to feel the effects. i think thursday night would be the time. there it is as a cat 4 in the bahamas with 130 miles per hour winds. that would be for thursday afternoon and then on thursday night, it will continue moving to the north and west still as a cat 4, still with 130 miles per hour winds and the proximity to the beaches here is mild. you can take a boat and be in the eye of the storm in minutes. that's how close we are talking about. so, there is the potential for this to make landfall. the forecast doesn't do that. it has it going up the coast and weakening from a 4 to a 3 to a 2 by the time we get to saturday, friday night into early part of saturday. for us, the timeframe would be, as far as the strongest winds, thursday night and through the entire day on friday because it will parallel the coast. a lot of colors. hurricane watch to the north. hurricane warning to the south. for us, as far as our inland counties here, tropical storm 60 miles per hour. the further east you go, the closer to 60. the further west, 40. all of what i have just told you is essentially because of the current forecast track. if it shifts a few miles to the west, we change the numbers here. this is the potential wind gusts through friday morning. tropical storm force wind gusts across the interior counties. along the coast, tampa, st. pete, upper 30s as far as the gusts 100 for the beaches. here is the current wind field. this is important. the yellow depicting tropical storm force wind and the red the hurricane force winds. those get close. the western edge of those will be clipping i-95 thursday into friday. the rain, you don't have to worry about it. we will get downpours but nothing to do with matthew. that is the tropical air masson top of us. futurecast in motion, you can see something that we don't see very, long time, a cat 4 hurricane approaching florida. notice on the western side of it, we won't get the heaviest of the rain. that will be for the coast with the current track as i see it now, 6 to 8 inches plus, perhaps a foot on the coast. then we diminish the rain chances or totals, 4 to 6 inches, 2 to 4 and 1 to 2 inches. we have gotten that with a thunderstorm in st. pete. today 89 with conditions. and then drying, right, the opposite what you would thing, the drier side of matthew thursday and friday so diminishing rain chances. then behind matthew we clear out and quiet down saturday and sunday. by the way, lower humidity, fall temperatures especially at night early next week. shifting from the weather, we go to community support. good morning, i'm lisa campos with positively tampa bay. army domestic violence program of west pasco. they need more volunteers and could use your help in the if you couldn't stay up last night, you missed an exciting night on "dancing with the stars." this is the moment talking about. >> i wanted to do this for such a long time. i love you so, so much. will you marry me? >> and the crowd goes wild. getting engaged to her pro dancer. >> he knew emma was the one three or four months after they met. so sweet. >> was that on alongside the vp debate? wonder who got the better ratings. >> let's check that. forecast today, upper 0s to near 90. showers and thunderstorms between 4:00 and 6:00. nothing to do with matthew. this is just the sea breeze thunderstorms with a lot of humidity out there. we will talk about matthew coming up at the bottom of the havertys furniture helps your home look perfect even when life isn't nice pick. pops, your pick. art monk! retired. i'll the state. up the east coast prepare to evacuate. they are anticipating the worst. people in the caribbean are just starting to clean up from the damage that matthew left behind. good morning, thanks for joining us at 9:30, i'm dan shaffer. >> i'm deiah riley. we have a lot to get to. ivan is monitoring the storm's path heading to the bahamas. >> and eventually to us. we will continue to track it the next couple of days because it could intensify into a category 4. that is the official forecast right now. 115 miles per hour winds. that was all the weakening that we had in the storm. still a major hurricane despite the fact that it went through the mountains of haiti then across eastern cuba. you can see the eye redeveloping there. the thunderstorms will wrap around and that will allow for it to intensify into thursday and then friday. we don't have much time to dillydally, especially on the east coast. you have to get prepared now. and highlands county, power will be the issue for you, if this forecast verifies, if it parallels the coast we will talk about strong winds. thursday into friday. for us the event will be thursday through the entire day on friday because of the forecast having it go on the coast as opposed to inland which would mean it wouldn't weaken that much as it passes close to us. tropical storm watch in effect for us thursday into friday with 40 to 60 winds. my brother is a firefighter for orange county. they talked to them about holding them for 72 hours because east of polk county through osceola and portions of 95 we are expecting winds
