removal in coastal communities center in spring hill will also be open 9:00 to 5:00. governor rick scott is sending extra help to tallahassee to help get the power back on after hermine. more than 50,000 people are still without electricity in the state. the state is paying for extra contractors to start working this morning on downed power lines and hopes to get all customers restored by sometime today. the governor spent this weekend touring flooded areas of pasco county like properties along state richey. also met with flood victims in the worthington port apartment complex. people there were ordered to evacuate saturday. that water 5 feet deep in places. destroying cars and damaging homes. many there just want mother nature to give them a break. >> i'm really mad, more upset as well and 200 generators to power traffic signals in tallahassee. tragic news -- an 18-year- old from polk county sacrificed his own life to save his little sister. a dive team recovered austin welch's body yesterday. investigators say he dove into the peace river in bartow to rescue his 11-year-old sister. she's safe but authorities tell us the current swept her older brother away. they spotted his body using sonar. but an autopsy is still going to be done. manatee county deputies need your help to find the man you see behind me. that man, 36-year-old ian oswald left his house last night after apparently threatening to hurt himself. oswald is a military veteran suffering from ptsd. if you know where he is call the manatee county sheriff's office. police say a south florida man threatened to carry out a pulse nightclub style attack junkworth on an unrelated charge. they say he posted threatening messages on facebook targeting people in a specific broward county community. one post even preferences the june 12th mass shooting at the pulse nightclub in orlando. he's accused of writing this -- >> the bar owner in that community says jungworth has caused problems in the past and even vandalized his his. >> we were concerned he would show up again. >> acquaintances say jungworth is openly gay and even organizes an lgbt event. over the weekend hunlz of people gathered charges in pasco resigned. investigators say he hit a stop sign on balsam avenue overnight sunday and slammed in front of a home causing an estimated $75,000 worth of damage. a 71-year-old man inside help from a surprising source, a hunter. >> miami man in the everglades, spotted the deer in desperate need of rescue. he recorded it on his cell phe. sharing this video. you can see the huge python, if you keep looking it's wrapped completely around that deer. the deer is very still, hunter walk up, fires several shots and scares off the python. eventually he killed the snake. the man was then also tried to pass off that $100 in the store but the clerk wouldn't accept it. police haven't yesterday identified the man. mother teresa is now officially a saint. pope francis made that declaration yesterday during a canonization mass in vatican city. the big crowd parked st. peter's square in her honor. the catholic nun dedicated her life to the poor and sick. also a nobel peace prize winner. she died in 1997 at age 87. the pope also honored mother teresa by feeding pizza to the poor. a pizza maker from naples and 20 staff members brought three special ovens to the vatican. and fed lunch to 1,500 homeless people. mostly living in shelters run the governor of oklahoma declared a state of emergency after a major earthquake there and it may have been caused by the oil and gas industry. an increase in strong earthquakes in oklahoma is linked to underground disposal of wastewater from oil and natural gas production. on saturday a 5.6 magnitude quake rocked north central oklahoma, tied a record for the largest earthquake in state to rattle locals. >> here comes another one, like we've had here before. but this one just wouldn't stop. >> saturday's quake is the second one of its size usually showing you this during the winter months but we're showing you this because this will limit our rain chances today, understand it's coming in tomorrow and in fact it's on the back side of what is hermine still across the northeast. no some big waves and also issues for portions of the northeast. for us it's actually going to help out. tomorrow we'll tap into the dry air, that will limit rain chances so we'll lose one of the three ingredients and by tomorrow rain chances 20% or below and then inching slowly heading into the middle and latter part of the week. today really the wettest of the entire week as far as rain chances go. that would be 40% to 50% coverage. that is how things will move these will be thunderstorms. there will be lightning, you hear the thunder and get indoors, then things blossom further south. by 7:00, 8:00 we'll be in better shape and then we'll set thing for tomorrow as dry air begins to move in. by the way this is hermine post- tropical now. that means it gets its energy from a different source now instead of the warm ocean temperatures. it's getting its energy from the differences in air masses here that will continue to look at the movement. barely moving. posted for southern new england and portions of cape cod as well. when with you look at futurecast look at this, just a few rain showers there, the irony is that they need rain, they are under, in fact extreme drought right along eastern massachusetts and southeastern new hampshire there. they are not going to get much 30% chance of this feature developing. we're still in the tropics, western caribbean, conditions unfavorable now but that could change. we'll let you know if it happens. if it's just raining -- it's just raining now in the winward islands. water temperature 83 this afternoon. high tide 5:19 after the low tide of 11:04 this morning. and the extended forecast will take our rain chances from 50% to 20%. then slowly coming back up but real end of finally getting a look at what that money bought. robert morin lived a simple life allowing him to save $4 million in his 50 years as a librarian at the university of new hampshire. when he died he left that money with the big chunk earmarked for the library. his fellow librarians say it was a total surprise. with his name and the school is building a new multimedia room at the library with his name on it. >> he watched lots of videos and tried to inspire students to be interested in film. >> the school says the bulk of the money will help expand their career services center and part of it 50% but it's typical summer weather for us. it's just that over the next few days we're going to interrupt that and bring in drier weather. unfortunately not today, not quite yet. it won't be raining all day, we'll have a lot of sunshine through the early part of the day and then thunderstorms build. satellite and radar looks pretty good with plenty of moisture. thunderstorms will fire around 1:00. we'll have futurecast coming up in a few minutes and extended forecast coming up. flooding still forcing people from home in pasco refuse to leave, keeping law enforcement very busy. james tully has a look at the problem it is causing out there. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the fwc officials, all they can do is just help people because they say they can't control what people do. many of them here in this pasco county community simply not leaving because they say their homes are not affected by the floods. a couple of the mobile home behind me are affected. right over the no trespassing signs you can see the anclote river flowed into the backyard here, it's completely flooded and underwater. the water reaching the door step of some of the homes elevated off the ground several feet. ivan had a nice tweet that showed us this river is going to crest at 25 feet. it's major flood stage levels. even worse, we got a close look at this yesterday. fish and wildlife officers showing us also the water chest- deep in places, families, you see struggling to get around. no choice but to wade through the flooded streets. it's not clean water. despite mandatory evacuations one family tess us though they are not going anywhere. >> the only place for us that we're able to go is a shelter. as of now our house is the only house that is not flooded. so we're trying to wait it out as >> reporter: the ancltoe prone to flooding and used to it but officials are saying staying out of the water and be safe. that water starting to recede and go back but officials tell us it could be up to a week before everybody gets back to their homes here safely. live in pasco county, james waves and storm surge at pinellas county beaches could be the worst beach erosion this decade. the coastal zone management office expects the erosion to be greater than the damage caused by tropical storm debbie in 2012. a team from the university of south florida will survey exactly how much sand the beaches lost but say that the tides are still higher than usual now an are waiting for them to go down. and figure out exactly how much sand was lost. a fight ends with a person stabbed. clearwater police say a group started fighting at a mcdonald's morning. the dispute spilled over and escalated at a 7-eleven on south missouri avenue where the stabbing happened. the vint is hospitalized now -- the victim is .ized now, the person not yet identified is expected to survive. officers showed up and quickly arrested a suspect but they have not released any names yet. a crime alert. 30 handguns and 10 semiautomatic rifles are now on the streets after a burglary at a gun shop. we have pictures from that truck there, officials say those suspects smashed the windows of titan arms on south florida avenue in lakeland. witnesses say they ran off after stealing the guns. if you know anything more call crime stoppers. we're learning black lives matter demonstrators in tampa may be preparing for more protests like what you see here from friday night. a group is holding what they are calling a stealth meeting today according to a post on facebook. many are outraged after hillsborough county sheriffs' deputies shot and killed an unarmed man in democracy 2016 -- both donald trump and hillary clinton are using labor day to campaign for votes in ohio. clinton will be in cleveland attending a labor day festival with union leaders and workers. tomorrow she'll be here in florida. democratic nominee scheduled to speak at usf at 1:45. clinton's campaign says she'll speak now and have clear sailing >> ocean city beach patrol will be on duty keeping people away. they say even after the storm passes and it's sunny the big concern is the rip currents afterwards. they say that is actually when it's most dangerous to go into the water. we're checking in on hermine now. it's a post-tropical system here. it's going to be nasty as far as the winds and waves but they actually want this rainfall in eastern mass. under extreme drought there. if you are getting a storm you might as they will only get a quarter to half-inch the next few days. so it's mainly a wind we'll lower the rain chances to about 20% to 30%. i think we'll be mostly rain- free tomorrow in fact and getting the backup to 30% to 40%. so the middle and end of the week highs near 90. the breaking news just in -- we're just learning a pinellas county deputy is now recovering after a car crash, apparently ran a red light last night. investigators say deputy tyler green failed to stop at the red light at main street and belcher road and collided with a pt cruiser, rescuers took life-threatening injuries. the driver and passenger in the other car weren't injured. president obama will make history today becoming the first sitting president to visit laos in southeast asia. during the vietnam war u.s. bombers dropped 2 million tons of sploaftion on the country. the president is expected to announce that the u.s. will help laos clear unexploded bombs. russian president and presiden they didn't agree on a ceasefire for syria but agreed to continue negotiations. there was tough back open. a judge ruled deputies must return the park to normal operating hours and take down a fence. there was violence after a police officer shot and killed a man following a traffic stop. the milwaukee police chief announced there were 24 murders this august, the highest one month decades. a missouri man killed by police have been laid to rest. mourners gathered to say goodbye to filando castile over the weekend. his story made national news. a minnesota police officer shot and killed him during a routine traffic stop in july. his family is now working with lawmakers to pass new laws preventing these types of shootings. while many of you have the labor day off that's not the case for local first responders. olive garden restaurants will be helping. meals to bay area police officers, firefighters and paramedics today. it's the 15th year in a row olive garden restaurants helped feed first responders on labor day. since 2002 they lived more than 10,000 meals nationwide.
