weather. >> how are you doing, everybody? there's a look outside. a beautiful day actually. and the drier air that we were talking about is making it at least into part of our viewing area. especially north of i-4. we're still going to see scattered storms this weekend. the coverage won't benearly as widespread past couple of days. rain chances will be increasing the early part of next week. that all boils down to what is going on with matthew. now a powerful category 4 hurricane. there's actually a chance that towathe end of next week, matthew could bring us drier air into the area. eea look at titan doppler radar. there are storms in pasco county and hillsborough county in the northern sections. rain from dade city and extends to the east of 275 through wesley chapel and the temple terrace area. we will keep our eyes on this. anything developing out there is moving from west to east. that will continue right on through the evening. temperatures right now anywhere from the mid to upper 80s. so a little more comfortable. right? 78 palm harbor. 86 in apollo beach. there has been rain out there. that is keeping temperatures down in some spots. it is raining at right now. 83 degrees. 87 in clearwater. st. pete, 84 with partly sunny skies. satellite picture looks pretty good. isolated showers. a couple of thunderstorms. but that cold front that we have been advertising for the past couple of days is indeed moving into the area. now, it is fizzling out. ahead of it, that's where the storms move in with a southwest wind. up to the north, there is drier air. and there it is. check it out. from citrus, hernando, even county, sumter county, pasco county, there is some drier air. i don't think it makes it any farther to the south. that front stalls out. so that means if you live south of i-4, the rain chances for you are quite a bit higher than if you live north of i-4 ts weekend. it won'te any sort o be better rain chances across the southern counties starting tomorrow. still this evening, out ahead o where it will be, there will be isolated showers and whticeen you ll notice it. drier and pleasant conditions. pasco, hernando, maybe even pin class nortrnillsborough. throughout the afternoon, a few storms pop up. and then i think we actually get more of an easterly wind heading into the weekend. that means more of the late-day early evening storms coming back towards the beach. we will only get a day or day and a half of the drier conditions befe the rain chans return. matthew from a category 1 hurricane yesterday to a category 4 hurricane today. this thing exploded. we have been talking about this for well over a week. it gets into these incredibly warm waters in the caribbean. anything is possible. and that's what we're seeing. i mean, it would not shock me in the least if this goes category 5. but what will happen in the next 24 to 48 hours, it will continue the westward movement. then it will turn north. we are very confident about that. now, could it turn north little bit later? it's possible. but either way, this general track -- this is where it's important to look at the entire cone. okay. jamaica -- jamaica will get hit hard by the hurricane. probably a category 3 hurricane. on the other side, haiti will get hit hard. it will weaken a little bit because of the mountains on the western side. the big question is right here. south florida is on the fringe. eastern sea board and into new engrand. the european model stalls it out in the bahamas for four days. starting next week into the early part of the following week. so that is one, t e. i'm more inclined to believe the gfs that it will go up the north. you n't write off the european model. it is extremely accurate with this kind of hurricane. stay with us 24/7 on facebook and online. we will be on this because florida, bottom line, is not out of the woods yet. here is a look at florida's most accurate 7-day forecast. rain be chances over the next couple of days. nice weather. then it bumps up as matthew approaches. if it goes up the eastern sea board, it will bring drier air into our area by the end of next week. i said, about the missing dog, the store tracked down the owner, the man that you just saw, who admitted that he failed to update the chip information. that's when they found thsuica removed likely in an jobs that you responding. hurricane matthew turning into a category 4 storm. >> this is a beast. winds of 140 miles per hour getting stronger. it would not shock me if it gets even stronger throughout the evening hours. there's the eye as clear as you will ever see. a textbook hurricane at this point. it is tapping all of this warm water down in the central caribbean. we believe it will turn north sometime on sunday. this is my take-away from the newest advisory. first avenue you will, it slowing down. the forecast takes it into maybe call latitude from miami by wednesday afternoon. significantly slower and more in line with what the european is predicting. after that, you see this margin of error. it's huge. some of the models take it up the eastern sea board. others stall it out in the bahamas for three or four days.
