relief efforts in the caribbean. looking outside, obviously a lot of clouds locally acros area. nothing to do with matthew. it's more of just storms that developed in the gulf of mexico and they have moved inland. if you look at titan doppler radar, you see the radar covering seminole and east central hillsboro county, manatee, hardy, desoto, this is going to be winding down around 9, 10:00. i think tomorrow not a bad day with nothing more than a few isolated afternoon and evening storms. of october. temperatures right now upper 70s to mid-80s. not nearly as warm today because of the cloud cover that came in. we hit 87 in tampa and that's actually where we should be. the normal high is 87. rain at the airport in tampa, the dewpoint 75. we hit 87 and that's where we should be. normal is 87 and 72. today temperature wise was actually about what we typically see in early october, not so much the rain, though. it's still raini at 81. partly sunny in sarasota. they've had plenty of rain over the last few hours, giving a little break in. still looking at moisture from the south that's going to be around tonight. tomorrow come wake up time, i think we've got a pretty decent start to your tuesday after these rains and storms wind down by about 10 or 11:00 tonight. this is what you'll be waking up to, partly sunny skies, temperatures back in the 3 or 4:00 and then the storms push west. again, this pattern that we normally see in july and august lingering, not nearly as hot because some of the cloud cover is still going to linger. by wednesday, i think more of the same, still an easterly flow, still sunny start to the day and then rain chances blow perfect east to west later on. thursday and friday, that all depends on this. now, let's talk about what we know right storm moving north, it might be even moving northeast. look at your longitude line. it's moving northeast. jamaica is going to get this, but not as bad as it could have seen because the hurricane force winds only extend 35 miles out from the center. now, tropical storm force winds 5 to 10 miles out there. so when you look at the track, unfortunately in western haiti, they're going to get the wind and the rain, as will eastern cuba. this is what's changed in the last 12 hours. we've been talking about this for the past couple of days. models have been trending west. at 5:00 today, the hurricane center pulled the trigger and moved everything west. let me stress one thing. i just looked at numbers at the hurricane center sit hurricane force winds in the bay area are zero. current track, zero. if it changes, we'll have it for you. but let's not hype things, not hype what-ifs, because that's simply not the forecast right now. what is is a lot of heavy rain from haiti, cuba, eventually into the bahamas. this is the latest track. this is one of our models, but i think it's on the money. western haiti, eastern cuba, and and starts to curve. and at that point it could be an issue for north carolina sometime on saturday. that's what we're looking at right now. here's a look at florida's most accurate seven-day forecast, rain chances closer to home, 50% the next few days. thursday we start to get breezy and there is definitely the chance of tropical storm form winds in our eastern counties later thursday into friday. matthew pulls away this weekend and sunny and drier weather returns by both saturday and sunday as rai zero by sunday. coming up, controversy surrounding party city. the reason why one woman says the store would not fill her . party city is investigating an tonight experts say this is a real possibility. a dog euthanized hours after showing up to a shelter. the two things you can do to stop it from happening to your family. i saw one of my personal students's grades submitted as a c, which was bumped up to a b. >> this teacher witnessed school district. coming up, an eyewitness . tonight euthanasia outrage. a woman mad at polk county animal services for putting down her dog. but the shelter says it did nothing wrong. new at 6 the one mistake a lot of owners make and how to keep this from happening to pets. plus, passing the blame. calling a toxic sinkhole a natural occurrence. all new at 6, we're finding out if the company could have done more. first, state of emergency tonight. the governor just putting all of florida on notice ahead of hurricane matthew. our chief meteorologist dennis phillips has the newest model. >> couple of things. first of all, looking at the latest advisory from the clearly this is moving northeast. look where the eye is going, northeast. it's very bad news for haiti, but good news for jamaica. jamaica looks as though it will get tropical storm force winds, but if it continues in this direction, and i believe it will, it will be well farther than 50 miles away from the center. that's how far hurricane force winds extend right now. so where do we go from that point? the latest a we saw it coming, the models are trending west. but let me stress. the overwhelming majority of these models keep this storm well to the east of florida's east coast. maybe they get a little bit closer, but the impact on the west side of florida minimal at best. if you live east of polk county, high lands county, maybe gustier winds thursday and friday based on the current track. might that change? we'll talk at that in just a couple minutes.
