Raul castro reportedly facilitated todays meeting between the pope and the leader of the Russian Orthodox church. The vatican said cuba was neutral ground for the meeting between the pope and Patriarch Kirill. Years since the church split into the eastern and Roman Catholic churches and the leaders of the respective churches have never met before today. Russian Orthodox Church is closely tied to the russian government and this is seen as a political message as well as a religious one. The pope and patriarch Patriarch Kirill are expected to release a joint declaration before the pope leaves for mexico. What are cubans and foreigners saying about this .
