We were waiting for invest 99l and tropical characteristics finally did this afternoon. The Hurricane Hunters left earlier this afternoon to investigate that area of low pressure, closed center of circulation with some increased thunderstorm activity closer to that center. With that they upgraded it to now tropical depression 9 with maximum sustained winds of around 35 miles per hour, that center of circulation just north of havana, cuba drifting westward into the southern gulf of mexico where it will find conditions more favorable for development over the next 48 hours or so. You notice it is forecast. This is the latest track from the National Hurricane have to early as tomorrow afternoon. Then it turns north, eventually northeast. That would be during the second part of the workweek. In this latest track from the National Hurricane center a little bit stronger than the 5 00 update with it developing into a higher end Tropical Storm that would impact the nature coast perhaps, the second part of next week. Still a good deal of uncertainty with the intensity and track of that storm and a whole lot of other activity in the tropics. Tonight two Home Invasion suspects are recovering after being shot and deputies are looking for the person who shot them at a home on dewdrop lane in northwest Hillsborough County. News channel 8s chip osowski pretty bizarre. Reporter one neighbor told us she believes there was some sort of a grow house in that home and that could be a reason why the victim was so quick to leave. This is a case where its difficult to determine who is the suspect and who is the victim. Paramedics loaded the two Home Invaders into ambulances at the scene and rushed them to the hospital for treatment. They are identified as 27year old leanys Rodriguez Charon and 28yearold Carlos Anthony deputies tell us the pair drove from miami to tampa, parked in front of the home on dewdrop lane, kicked in a backdoor and confronted the resident with taser guns. The resident one upped the Home Invaders with a real gun shooting them both. Residents like Mark Deangelo are still in shock. We dont have any activity like that in this area. Its quiet. Everybody that lives around here has lived here for years. Routinely takes walks here with her family, hearing about gunfire so close is scary. Its just insane to me to think about. I had no idea. This neighborhood is such a quiet and nice neighborhood. Everybody waves at you when you go down the street. Its just i would never have imagined that. Reporter rodriguez and Rodriguez Charon were both rushed to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Amos is pleased the two armed men wont posing a threat to anyone else any time soon. Reporter the victim in this case left before the first deputies arrived. Theyre still looking for him. In Hillsborough County im chip osowski, news channel 8. Right now a Tarpon Springs man is in custody after an on tarpon avenue. News channel 8s mary mcguire has more on how investigators were able to arrest the suspected killer. Reporter several different agencies including clearwater police, Tarpon Springs police and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement all worked together to take this bad guy down. Heres a look at the suspect, 39yearold frederick bentley. Police tell us both bentley and 27yearold torenzo smith lived at this motel when an argument morning. Bentley then reportedly pulled out a gun and shot smith at a close range. News channel 8 caught up with the victims first cousin who tells us his family is absolutely devastated after this loss. We can only stand together as a family, you know, at this point in time. Theyre going to be taking it pretty tough because it being somebody really close to us and it being my aunts baby boy, you know, so its going to be tough, definitely going to be investigating the scene and obtaining an arrest warrant authorities found bentley walking down a road in clearwater. He was taken into custody without incident and is now charged with one count of first degree murder. Reporting in Pinellas County im mary mcguire, news channel 8. We have an update to another story. After a week of searching a man deputies say carjacked a woman outside of a Bonefish Grill restaurant is now off the street. This is the man were about. 41yearold Sean Mclaughlin stole the car by threatening the driver with a chain. The car was found crashed and burned a short distance from where it was stolen. Tonight mclaw of lynn is charged with armed mclaughlin is charged with Armed Robbery and grand theft of a motor vehicle. The Bay Area Community is mourning the loss of a tampa police officer. Master Patrol Officer fred arnold, iii passed away during an offduty incident diving accident at Lake Mead National Recreation Area near vegas in nevada. Officer arnold served tampa for 27 years, mentored young people across the city. A few years into his career in 1992 he became a hero after jumping through the window of a Burning House to save a woman and her two children. Parishioners of st. Lawrence church are preparing to say goodbye to one of tampas most well known spiritual leaders. Passed away this week. He founded the church on north himes avenue. So many people are expected to attend the funeral a public visitation will be held tomorrow. Today we spoke with a close friend of the pastor who is also coordinating those services. He instantly developed a contact, a connection with people, and thats one of the reasons why were anticipating its not just our parishioners, its going to be lots of people around the tampa bay area. About 2,000 people are mass. Former bucs coach tony dungy will be one of the eulogists. Tonight we have new body cam video of an elderly woman pepper sprayed by police in oklahoma. Police say they released the video because they have nothing to hide. Lets take a look. Turn around and face that way now or ill spray you. Muscogee police say they were chasing the 84yearold womans son after he ran a stop sign and took off and ran into a home. When he refused, they tased him and thats when they say his mother came out and officers told her to turn around. When she did not, the officers pepper sprayed her.
